Congrats. I haven’t been diagnosed but always felt I had ADHD. It took me years to finish college, just graduated this year. I’m a year older than you. I went to university, then community college, then university again and ended up with a final GPA of a 3.5

This explains a lot. I hated high school but I loved my business classes. When I got a job, I fell more into accounting. I’m still dead set on becoming an entrepreneur. If I have to talk about food and my health for a living, I’m gonna hate it and I knew it because I sat through medical billing and coding for 9 months and actually did it… and hated it 😢

Its super important for us ADHD folks to have the chance to pursue the things that we find interesting!! (i mean, its important for everyone, but especially so for us!)

Definitely agree with taking advantage of the resources schools offer because they are there to help you . For me personally I don’t like asking for help because I don’t want to look stupid but I am trying to work on that . Thank you for your video because I am transferring and needed these

I'm glad the video was helpful to you! It's always okay to ask for help when you need it - in fact asking for help shows that you have the maturity to realize when you need help and the confidence to ask for it!

Amazing ! I dropped out 3 times because i just couldn't pay attention in class! And when I study, i read a few sentences, and then i get distracted and go do something else . It's frustrating because i want to become a doctor , but i can't even focus long enough to get an associates let alone the long road to medical school! im going to try one more time . This time, I'll get medication, ask the college for accommodations , whatever i have to do .

I'm diagnosed with autism and am a community college student heavily considering Berkeley, so this was really helpful! I struggle a lot with executive functioning due to my autism, so I can relate to some of your struggles. I also struggled in high school, mostly due to mental health issues and the fact that I wasn't diagnosed until I was 19 so I didn't know why I struggled to socialize and process information. Now I have accommodations and hopefully will get support to help me live independently. I've been working my first paid job for over 8 months now, so that's good progress! I have a 3.79 currently which has been a lot of work, but I love school! I struggle with perfectionism and wanting to get a 4.0 GPA, but I'm working on preventing obsession with grades. Thanks for this video and I wish you the best of luck with your grad school experience!

This is really helpful, thank you so much. I struggled with undiagnosed adhd in high school, and I pretty much graduated on a technicality. I’m starting my second year at Santa Monica College with the goal of transferring to a UC. It’s really reassuring to see someone with such a similar experience to me thriving in college like this. I’m loving community college but I’m very scared that I’m gonna transfer and crash and burn

I'm so happy my story is helpful for you to hear!! I was also scared that I was going to crash and burn when I transferred - and even though it was hard, it wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. Especially when it comes to the UC's - they are FANTASTIC at providing help and guidance for transfer students (particularly at Cal and UCLA in my opinion)

I with my own ADHD am not here to invalidate anyone's acheivment or brag what I do in my STEM major and struggle with and manage to get by but I was kind of disintrested when the degree you mentioned was some major often described as an idom/term as "underwater basket weaving major" 😂😂😂. Nevertheless congrats for all ur acheivments

I did not fast forward through your disquisition, mirabile dictu. I realize now that I have always had severe ADHD, and a symptom of that is that I fast forward through almost all KZread expositions. But not yours. You are consistently credible, likeable, watchable, and reliable. By reliable I mean you tell us what you tell us you will tell us, no clickbait or discursive detours. I found you while checking out what the archaeology curriculum is like a UC Berkeley, and you told me. Well, you told me anthropology but that was enough.

Thank you! This is high praise! If you watch my vlogs I definitely talk more about archaeology at Cal - they don't offer an archaeology specific cirriculum as they only have an Anthropology degree course, but they have a lot of archaeology classes. I recommend watching the "classes I took" videos for more on that!

My current issue, is being able to understand concepts. Is there a way that has helped with understanding things. I have gone to tutoring and I feel bad because after it’s explained, I’m still confused. I’m a biology major. My issue is that I’ve never been a huge science person. But I want to work with animals. Like become a vet. You are an inspiration for me. I’ve been diagnosed since I was 16 with anxiety, depression, and now at 23, I have been diagnosed with ADHD (inattentive).

This might suck to hear, but sometimes it's better to find an avenue that your brain understands better rather than trying to force yourself into doing something super difficult. For example, learning animal sciences instead of biology - finding some other major that is adjacent to what you eventually want to do!

I went to my PCP to get a referral to a psychiatrist that specializes in ADHD diagnoses - had that evaluation at the end of spring semester 2021 and received my diagnosis in July of 2021!
