    Great video. I really like the blocking phase of the 3d model. Its like making a sculpt in real life from an armature and clay by adding clay slabs and strips and sculting it in detail after. Great work!

    THANKS FOR THIS! I wish I saw this video 3 years ago................ 2:49 So, in real life sculpting working with clay - you would do the same. You quickly slap on chunks of clay that builds up the bulk of the anatomy. Then you go in after blending in the details.

    I know that I'm about a year late to this great video, but if you do see this I was wondering if you have any tips on getting started with remeshing, because that in itself has basically make my Blender journey come to a complete hault.

  • @CriticalGiants

    @CriticalGiants

    3 ай бұрын

    If you mean remeshing as in Retopology, like sculpting a mesh and then creating an animation friendly mesh around with clean topology etc. Then I honestly don't think there is a lot to it. There are a few principles to follow, the most important one being, what is the mesh for? Is it for a low poly game, that is one way to remesh, is it for a pixar style animation film, that is another way to remesh and so on. But most retopology aims to have more detail around bendable joints, like elbow, knees, shoulder etc. But then if you want to have great facial topology, that is all about looking into how the face deforms, there are lots of great reference on facial retopology out there. If you are thinking on a technical side, I would try out the technique I am using, aswell as the polybuild tool in blender, there are also some great addons but I would wait with that until you get the basics down. Hope this helps.

    Hi there, the course is in realtime, so no part of the process is skipped or "rushed" through, however the course is suggested for people who are already familiar with the basics of Blender and concepts like modelling, texturing and so on.

  • @CriticalGiants

    @CriticalGiants

    11 ай бұрын

    Hi there, no the course does not cover implementing the character in Unity, the course mostly covers how to export your model with animation and textures etc, and then uses Unreal Engine as an example for how to bring it in, but the export should be the same for Unity and Unreal. Hope this helps :)

    if you make mobile games or light weight games and plan to have your models on the lower side of quad count, you can get a lot of detail out with just 0.8k to 2k polygons per model if you know good 2D art to give off the impression of depth and in this case I suggest avoiding the sculpting phase and going straight to modelling so you save yourself a lot of retopology work and you may even skip completely the baking process. And even if you are bad at coloring or drawing you can easily learn some basic editing skills and turn real pictures into useable textures then you can use AI image generators to turn your edited images from real pictures into stylized textures, and if you don't know how to use AI to generate stylized verions of pictures then your last bet is learning how to draw. all considered this can cut down your work by 60 to 80%
