How I Built my DIY Hightop Campervan - Start to Finish - Part 1/2

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hello! Hope you have enjoyed the more detailed videos of how I built the high top. This video is more about the entire van in general starting with stripping and gutting it all the way to curtains and backslash. Some of the parts on building the roof may be a bit redundant if you have already seen the high top build videos so I apologize for that. Please feel free to ask me any questions about this build and how I did it.

Really enjoy your videos. You are one HARD worker. I get tired just watching you build. Take care, lots of love from Montreal.

I have this same van only mine is a 2001 and already has a fiberglass high top. I have been looking for a video to show how it would look with some windows covered on the kitchen side. I love what you did here. I love the table/bed insert! I especially love the plexi ceiling! You did a great job. I'm so excited get a visual of the same van I have. It really encourages me to get going on my build! Thanks for sharing.

I raised the roof on my Chevy Express van recently. I documented it on my KZread channel and gave you a mention in my latest video. I really liked the way you framed your roof and wish I would have did it the same way. Thanks for the inspiration!

FYI you can save a decent amount of money if ou buy Ustleum paint in Gallons and Spray it with a HVLP Turbine Paint Sprayer most of those Spray Rigs work similiar i myself have a older CampbellHausfeild they do not any longer sell a a Complete setup although i can purchase the parts from them and make my own kit ,mine is 25 years old and i like it because my Spray Gun and SiphonCup are all Metal(Aluminum ) Construction and i like that to scrub it clean with SteelWool and Brass Brushes between uses i like it Spotless and dShiny ! I’ve also Polishedit to make it easier to Clean on your End Grains i prefer to use a Petrating Marine Epoxy generally West System or TotalBoat brand

Im just about to raise the roof on my 1996 club wagon It was helpful to see various other builds I have some building experience so watching you and others boosts my confidence to do my own. Would any one know if I could use fiberglass window screen as a base for the resin instead of fiberglass sheets Im committed to repurposing materials as much as I can

This may seem silly Now because it's been 3 years but if you still have the van you can cover it all with flex roof sealer paint seen some one use it on a big RV Roof

Good job though. If you happen to buying a second one, I'd give you all the advice on the metal fabrication/welding. 👌 It would definitely take a lot of welding, but then you would know it's 100% sealed. There shouldn't be any issues with the welds breaking with steel, might also be lighter than the wood if you choose the right material dimensions and thicknesses.

@@Stevef2234 What advice specifically? I would use steel sheet metal probably 14 guage and get a harbor freight titanium 125amp Flux welder. There is a lot to that project though really. You would need to make a template, and then probably use cardboard or some other easy to cut material to make the mockup. Then get the desired material and weld it, then reinforce everything.

Awesome build Eli, hey man I would strongly recommend buying a Chinese diesel heater as they are amazingly efficient. If you make an install video of one it's fairly easy and will probably get alot of views due to people's interest in them. Just my two cents, looking forward to future videos.
