    I fully intended on building my own cap for my Ranger. But I decided to save the time and make the investment on an ARE aluminum cap. I wanted it strong and wanted it to last. I move boats on top of my truck etc. I spent a lot of money on my cap and regret it 100 percent. The build quality is crap, and ARE has never bothered to respond to me. So kudos to you for doing your own thing. It works and is a lot cheaper. I have no doubt after a little use you will decide to make some changes and make a second one. We all do it lol. Good idea doing the tabs on the foam to interlock.

    Some people add the water to the glue so it doesn’t dry so fast and gives you more work time. You could also use a spray bottle with water to help keep a section wet while working. But it all depends on how well prep and get ready to work. Camper looks great! Good job.

    Good job👍 I think most folks thin the glue to get better penetration through the canvas. Will be interesting to see over time if you get delamination - I hope not. I purchased glue and canvas but now if I do a foamie for my Mav - it will be in regular fiberglass -- just for more strength. Cheers

    So far its been one year and the camper sat for 2 months on 100+ amd has done 2 winters thru freezing temps just sitting the past 2 months as well. Still no delam, i think it would have happened by now. I did pretty heavy top coat and a pretty decent undercoat to make it stick but not too much so that the outter coat could still seap into the fabric which water proofs it. Then paint over that.

    Love your imagination and follow through! Way to go man! Tell me why didn’t you go over the truck cab for a sleeping bunk? Second, you ever going to put in a window or skylight? And How much does it weigh now do you think? Cool n project. I just want to use foam board for a 3 section foldable flush truck bed cover. Thanks again! Let’s see some more camping pictures!

    Thank you! I wanted to keep it aerodynamic jist didnt need to go over the cab, i do have a fan for the roof that i still need to install an no windows so i can stay stealth, air flow comes in between door and tail gate just fine. That sounds like a fun build you have planned!

    I actually wonder if you couldn't dye the glue a certain color Or just use paint as the binder with no glue. Did you use latex paint or enamel?

  • @AdventureLiteCampers

    @AdventureLiteCampers

    The glue does come yellow so it might be hard to do, that sounds like a lot more work to try to mix the glue then just paint afterwards I would think. I dont think it would stick with just paint and to be honest I cant remember which type of paint I used. I might have just got what ever said "outdoor paint" on it

    I know you're gonna think this is nuts but i had a vision of your truck a few hours ago. I made a video about what id saw. I randomly get on KZread shorts, now and your truck comes pops up and I'm like Holy shi. Are you heading to Louisiana at all or something with finding your next direction? That's all i saw but i felt like i should tell you about it. The vision i had was a ford ranger pictured like i was standing on the passenger side and there were like these weird lines behind it after, which made me now realize they were the mountain paintings. Yes i am a medium channeler and idk 🤷‍♀️ something about finding your center of the compass where all the roads lead. I hope something about this will make sense to you. ❤
