The Uncanny Mike I’m the same way. I eventually found some things I didn’t mind selling so I sell them to help me fund it.

I am a pure buyer at this point. Working on several SA runs. Haven’t sold anything in years, if not a decade or two. That being said, I like how Gem has done it. I’m not sure if there is anyone better on KZread or anywhere else right now who’s as honest and open about how he has got the things he’s acquired and what it took to get them. He gives you the blueprint on how to work yourself up to buying the more expensive books and other items that may seem daunting and nigh impossible to get. It isn’t too hard to do it if you have the desire and ability.

My dad told me he had all those keys when they were first released but my grandma gave them to some kid down the block after my dad moved out 😆

You are certainly not the only one to do this best way to get the stuff you want without burning huge holes in your pockets. Its all about the hustle.
I’m in the process of flipping my way to an AF 15. I’m still a longs way away but I’m loving the journey.
X-celsior!!! Spiderman has ALWAYS been, and ALWAYS will be my favorite

It's so hard to let go of some slabs even when you have a grail you're working towards. Videos like this definitely help prioritize why you're collecting in the first place. Loving the content and stay safe!
Your outtakes at the end were hilarious! Love your channel and much respect to all the work that you put into it, great job!
Gem, thanks. Always awesome in how you share! Looking fwd to see you get to 75k. Well deserved bro.
That’s an awesome way to go get started. Thanks for keeping your Channel going.
Love these videos about how you built your empire. Definitely my favorite! Also dig the bloopers at the end! 🤙
Thanks. Been going through my collection, and ready to start collecting again. Great videos!
Thank you GEM! Your collecting tips have greatly helped and guided the comic book and collecting community! Always stayin Minty Fresh! Cheers!
I'm trying this approach to getting so milestones and key issues. Glad to hear it's worked for someone
Really appreciated this video! Love the “hobby should fund itself” mentality
You do a great job of making diverse videos that don't feel random, and they're always top quality. You guys have a great day
Great advice. Love you vids. Keep up the good work during this quarantine time.
Appreciate the video bro. Lots of valuable info 4 anybody doing or trying 2 do the same thing. U have a collection that any comic book geek would b envious of. Hope u and ur fam is staying safe and healthy. 1 luv bro
This is one of those videos I've been waiting on for a looong time. Thanks for the info!
I really enjoy these video where you talking about getting started and how your collection has evolved though the years.
Love these types of videos. I don't know if I'd be able to do this myself since I'm not as knowledgeable in the comic game as I could be since I only got back into them the past year or so. You get a lot of respect from me tho for managing to grow your collection like this and it's dope to know it worked out for someone. Keep doing what you do Gem, love the channel and love seeing the community grow so fast!
Awesome video man. Just got back into collecting last year after being out about 15 years. I find your content extremely helpful understanding how to collect. Thank you.
ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO GEMINT! I like this video because I just recently got back into my favorite hobby, and to me, you had the right idea. Gives me alot to think about moving forward. i just wish the comic book industry wasn't in such bad shape right now. But still a great video, and that's why I like the videos you do cause you can learn a lot from your experiences as a collector. I hope you keep doing more videos like this! THUMBS UP!
huge s/o to Gem & Comic Tom, you guys have really helped me appreciate my collection so much more & how to get more bang for my buck! Love the channels!
Thank's for sharing your experience! That will help me since I started collecting recently! Great video Props!
I love comics! Thanks for all the tips Gem!
Gem you're an absolute G man!!! The way you collect makes comic collecting such a fun hobby!!! Literally the dopest channel out there!!!
I need to start collecting like you Gem! Thank you for the video!
Awesome dude, love this insight. Will definitely be flipping some of my collection that I’ve been able to sort through during this lockdown.
I admire your ability to just part ways with something you have worked for a lot, and then turn it into something even more amazing
The outtakes are so funny!! Major upgrade from the old Gem Empire
Great video as usual! I love the outtakes at the end haha
As a kid, I had a dope stack of silver/bronze age comics. I moved away from home, left my stash in a box. Then my parents moved. When I came back, my comics were nowhere to be found. I only had my Sub Mariner #1 and I carried that with me to this day (prob 8.0 raw). I am a writer, and an aspect of the current novel I am writing is about a 17 year old comic fiend. I figured that I should get back to comics if I ever am going to do it. It has been fun pulling all of my old books back. Bidding on keys and pulling CGC slabs. I don't think I will ever sell them. My method is to grind and save. If I pull a comic and hustle for it, it will be a lifer. Great vid, and keep that blooper reel coming!
I just had a similar conversation...fellow collector is gathering the keys, I mentioned that some subscribe to the belief that it is better to try and get the big book first. Love the content! Long time subscriber, first time commenter 😄
This video still hits the nail on the head. Great advice and congrats on reaching your goal back then!
Your blooper reel at the end of your videos is hilarious!!!!
What a great video ! Gem 💎 your so smart in this collectable game man!!!
I've posted so many comments about that Thanos statue XD and I won't stop until that livestream!!
Great content. I hang onto everything feeling I'm going to let something go that I still wish I had instead of looking what I could have. This is my first time watching one of your videos. I look forward to seeing more.
Great vid. Just getting back into it and your really putting out great comment that will help me get a plan going
My first slab was CGC SS TWD custom label #115. i still remember how excited i was when it arrived. Thank you for sharing your experience. Stay safe and minty fresh!

Did the smart thing and used the hobby to continue collecting towards your grail. New collectors should definitely watch this video.
Smart! I dig the knowledge dropped. Much appreciated
Great insight in how it all started. Keep the videos coming. Need more bloopers😂😂
Awesome video. Great idea on purchasing Amazing Fantasy 15. Will have to work on that.

Thanks for telling your story, it's interesting the way your interests evolved
Awesome video my man! I have also bought things sold them off to buy something a little more expensive gotta keep upgrading!
Thanks Gem for the story and I actually enjoyed it. It is what I do myself, put runs together and resell them for that 1 grail book! Glad I am not the only one who does this.
I've recently started following you and am really inspired by your style of collecting. I've been collecting all my life but never really did any trading. Now, I'm ready to start and have been learning a lot from you and Comictom101. Thanks!!
Very interesting, thanks for sharing Gem

Damn your my inspiration I’m 18 and been collecting for a bout a year now always the youngest in the comic shop and I love it and always learning more and more about collecting but your videos always catch me up fast
Thanks for the history lesson of how you started in this hobby. I give you a lot of credit on how u would chase down comics and eventually flip them to buy something else.
Cool to see your old set up!
Wow..that's a cool timeline of re-investing. You've had some classic milestones pass through your hands. 👍
Great insight into how you view the hobby and amassed an amazing collection
Great information, thank you sir, been 25 years since I collected and recently got back into the hobby.
Hahaha I love the outtakes at the end.
That old wall with the comics looked crazy
Appreciate the videos while the COVID lock down is in place! I haven't collected in awhile but these videos are tempting me to get back into the game

Love this story taught me alot about getting big key issues
Great tips on getting those big books. Can't wait to get my AF book.✌
Great video! I think I got the collection bug in me. So great to discover your channel!
I love your mindset . I try to do the same with selling some collectibles to get bigger pieces but sometimes I get too attached. Great vid Gem
Great advice. Thanks. It’s given me something to think about 🤙🏼
Killin it still. Always cool seeing you expand your.... empire. You have come a long way from Instagram. Yet here you are still keeping it real, even as your infamy grows! Waiting for you to do a House of Pain/Everlast Comic collecting type theme song to start your videos though, just to really make people to stop... and wonder... "wait is he... what?!" LmAO that still makes me crack up... Cheers Mate! Keep being you
Love ur bloopers Gem. Very funny.
Gem mint with the consistency, great content as always🔥🔥🌌
Wow that's cool, such drive is inspiring.
Dang Young Gem pics. Kinda like flashbacks to polaroids. Another solid video!
Pretty cool video. Thanks for sharing your strat
Loved this video, I’m building my collection right now, trying to get an AF15 too later on !
Thanks for the info Gem! I am also looking for AF 15 amongst other grails so thank you for a road map. I do have some expensive books that I will probably send to CGC to increase their value. Stay safe and be well!👍🏿👍🏿
I got into collecting a few years ago. Really helpful to hear you say you can flip a whole collection to get that next big thing. I have a hard time letting go but if the next goal is a grail then why not? Thanks Gem
I think I'm going to use this strategy for my grail books as well.
Thanks for the tips. Set goals and reach them logically.
I love those bloopers at the end lol.
U R THE MANNNNN I love these these types of videos
Cool video! Love seeing how a pro does it! That is a pretty amazing book to own but at the end of the day collectibles will always be around i hope. I collect alot of things such as comics, cards and sports cards. I have sold some pretty awesome books to get to where i am now. I am on Instagram but kinda just look at others posts and now that we are all quarantined i will have to start posting. I am working on a Spawn run as well but with some of these keys i might sell what i have and start going after those!
