Hey man I have made a personal commitment to teach someone every day to beat the habit of procrastination as it will not only allow me to help others but engrain it further into myself and motivate me to live by my teachings. What beating procrastination did for me 1. feel alot better about myself which makes me more likeable and happy 2. trust myself more and feel more worthy 3. I take my work much more seriously then those who never had the problem of procrastination as I am aware that my work is an art compared to when I used to procrastinate. here is how to beat it. First we must understand what procrastination is to beat it Procrastination is ONLY the fear of stress. It has nothing to do with the work 2nd. Do NOT call your self a procrastinaor. You are a person who is procrastinating. Big difference as beliefs will shape your identity Now how to actually beat it couple things Do you have a dopamine addiction? Are you addicted to food, porn, tv, phone That must be addressed first Do a dopamine detox where you cut out all the things you are addicted to for 24-48 hours This is extremely powerful which no one does. Once you did that do these 2 things 1. Approach your work with the main goal of developing the habit of initiative. Taking constant action until the stress is getting moderately uncomfortable. Then do it again later that day The more you put into it, the faster you will develop the HABIT of the initiative. Its about the result. not time Try your best to not fall into old habits of procrastination. Also, the hardest part is starting the task you are procrastinating on. Once you start it will be very easy to continue! 2nd. Tell atleast one other person each day the power of developing this necessary habit of initiative and how spectacular they will be once they demolish the deadly habit of procrastination espceially if they desire to become leaders! Please comment any questons as it will not only help you, but it will help me feel better about myself for helping others and remind me of the power of developing initiative! take care my man

Speaking of routine: "If you wanna be a writer, write" - Epictetus. Now, what did this man mean by this quote? He meant that if you want to do something, anything, you should do it so often it becomes second nature to you. If you want to write, write so often that you don't even think about it when you sit down and get to it. When I have been at my best while writing, I have felt that. That I just sit my ass down into the chair and open up the word-document without even thinking about it.

I am currently receiving treatment for cancer and have been unable to work since January. Some days, I just react to what’s happening , snd others I actually plan what I’ll be doing. Obviously, the latter is preferable. With my initial cancer diagnosis, I was truly facing my own mortality. I truly will feel memento mori every day of my life now as this cancer may come back, or I could get hit by a bus! This video today was so helpful to help me be mindful to not waste my precious time here on this earth. Thank you, Ryan.

Do everything everyone else avoids and I just do it because it needs to be done. But if I get really tired and hear complaints, usually from asskissers and lazy colleagues, I just get so tired and take a day off without explaining why. By that, I'm not helping taking away bad energy. I just feel its no points arguing with morons but... Wish I could change my attitude and don't get bothered by the talk but when I'm tired and feel unappreciated I just go away. Would like to change that

Ryan pointing out how having so much too do that it is beyond your bandwidth is a form of procrastination really added a much needed view to my perspective on productivity and procrastination. I now feel that having too much on my plate is maybe my way of trying to procrastinate thinking deeply about what really matters to me. Great video.

I've learnt from my last year of stoicism, is that my perfectionism causes me to procrastinate. It is a slow process to let things go when you feel they are half baked, or to even accept work that in your view is not whole, or to your standard. This is not easy.

And when you do start, break it in chunks and see the parts that make up the whole. Habit is important; if you can make a habit of things, it gets easier to do. BTW -- part of the reason why he did this was to promote his books. Detracts from the message.

Great video, Ryan, thanks. I love what you said about writing 2 crappy pages a day. I'm a writer feeling overwhelmed with rapid fire ideas. I have the dual difficulty of procrastinating while i also feel that I can't express myself quickly enough to get it all out. So thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your trick of writing "2 crappy pages a day." ❣️✌️🥀

Best video about this issue I have watched here. I gave up on my phd thesis three weeks before the submitting deadline because of that. Just of few years of work and of my life lost because of procrastion/perfectionism/fear..

Somewhere along the line, somewhere, you MUST have some success as well. Nothing provides momentum like success. If you've never had success, you never will be successful. The guy in the vid is a tremendously successful author, so it's all easy for him to say. Someone, his mom, his dad, his uncle.....someone......even just an example..........helped and encouraged him to be a success. Without that, you are lost. Most people do not get the breaks this guy got.

Even if the task is easy but unpleasant, do it first and do it with focus while you're fresh. The rest of the tasks will fall with ease and you'll be more invigorated when you're work is done and you can have your personal time.

Thanks, Ryan! Your vids, podcasts, and books challenge the perspective that is common in our generation for a long time, but's not working anymore. And the people who are not afraid of change, but for the innovation and for the betterment of the world we live in greatly appreciates it. Just continue what you're doing. You're doing a great job. God bless!
