You'll watch an entire Netflix show even when the first episodes are slow and boring just because someone told you "it gets better." *But what if you looked at your goals like that and watched your life get better instead?*

I got one better for you Khan; You’ll watch a show for one hour, once a week and know everything about what’s happening over the course of 12 weeks. And we do that with multiples of shows and multiple swipes on social media. Imagine if we found the ability to put that same one hour per day into our goals. I did. I had more upward mobility over the past twelve years than I had the previous twelve. Some of us would become omnipotent.

Same, but to me it's video games. You get addicted to a video game because you want to know the story, when it's just dopamine. You're spending hours leveling up your non-existent character when you could be leveling up yourself!

"I never met a challenge I didn't fall in love with". This is a quote I heard on military SF podcast that really made an impact on the way I approach things now. Also, another understanding of stressors "a tree only grows strong by blowing in the wind, it's many growth rings tell its story of what it's been through". This paradigm of thinking and taking ACTION and not living in fear - taking incremental improvements each day, while not worrying about perfection - and being of service. These are things that have changed my life. Love your books!

Do yourself a favor and go to a mental health professional (or therapist) to figure out why you feel like sht so often that you have to use. Of course there's the feeling like sht because you're using, but I'm talking deeper than that. I'm talking about how you probably feel like sht more often than you don't on some fundamental level, and they can help with getting you to feel way less like sht than ya do. Also, Naltrexone is amazing, don't suffer if you don't have to. Source: I'm 13+years clean and sober, I walked my talk.

The Conflict is the Way. Every learning is a conflict: stay concentrated (feel the whole), remain relaxed (no inner conflict), stay focused (see what others do not, you will cross the chasm of your external conditioning). A conflict reminds us of a learning that needs to take place in both us and others but it is never about aggression (pain of growth) either in us or others. A conflict is a story in search of a path to a resolution. A conflict stimulates change, growth, innovation ie a blessing in disguise. The trick is to pause often, focus on learning and the unity of self. We move from feeling disconnected, to addressing biggest constraints, to progress, to dealing with inner traumas, to joy and to a profound knowledge/flow.

There was a 9 weight class (9 lbs/level-class) difference between us and it was considered an impossibility to even try (I was the light weight). After we bowed in for the match he backed up and said to the referee, "He's not afraid of me." The referee replied, "No, he is not." Fear is controllable from a number of perspectives and takes practice to have the ability to deal with your fear.
