You'd said this was coming last week. And it helped!! The belly button to the target is what I'd slipped. Zach made me take a practice swings with him standing in front of me with his hands out and having me make sure I finished like I was putting my clubhead in his hand. That was the key! Love your videos and how it brought back all the goodness I'd learned in the past.

Great video! Also the dead hand wedge video is awesome. Pretty sure I saw that before but a great one to see again. Have been working on my short game so this is very timely. Thanks!

Awesome Rob, thanks for watching!
Agree! Short game sooo important and i use a sand wedge for all my short game shots.
Definitely agree, I bought a ShortGameChef subscription this year and it totally changed my short game. Obviously you're always trying to improve the driver and irons but short game can save your rounds when you're not striping the longer clubs. I use 2 shots for the majority of short game, 1 for short sided/less runout and 1 when I have more room to work with. Getting through entire rounds without duffs/blades and getting the majority within 5-7 feet is a game changer.

Has bunch of different sections going over multiple short game shots. What seems to be helping lots of people is a "curing the yips" section. He's slowly adding more content but for people that are struggling I'd definitely say it's worth a month subscription. @@ErndogGolf

Hi Erndog.. Haha remember me? I'm the guy with the twice broken neck.. I told you this months ago, I'm glad you listened lol You can score with short game you can not without it. Doesn't matter how good you can hit it, No short game,no score. I literally suck at hitting the ball. B-grade 4 sure.. Good short game lets me play off 2 handicap. Not hard like the full shot to master..

Ross! Hahah of course I remember you. Your advice was spot on. My short game and putting have saved my scoring and handicap this summer. I’m starting to see my ball striking improve a bit too, so I’m excited to see where my game goes when everything starts to fire!

@@ErndogGolf Yeah mate Keep it up.. I shot a -5 par two weeks ago and today was club champs, I shot 84 AAAGHHH. Its hard to get everything working and you still need a long game that is at least in play lol

Agree with all of this. I would add that I think too many people don’t play enough rounds on the course as practice or even just have mental flexibility to hit a practice shot which they don’t count. Where I think this applies in short game is key: You can spend hours around a chipping green and never practice one off shots which occur on the course; if you flub or stress about those shots, then I think it’s highly beneficial to drop another ball and try it to both get the feel and get the confidence. I like you never practice the same shot twice when I’m “practicing” in the traditional sense, but I have hit countless duplicate shots (punching out under trees from a threadbare lie or flop shot over a bunker from a downslope, for example) which happen on the course to improve my short game. How’s your putting overall these days? Are you spending us much or more time on putting as chipping/pitching (short game) practice?

That’s a super good point man! I play a lot of 9 hole rounds by myself in the evenings and if I get backed up and no one is behind me, I usually will drop a few balls on the greens and try to get up and down from crazy spots! Putting has been really good! Greens have been really firm and fast in Texas which I think helps! I spend the same amount of time chipping and putting!
I've been working on chipping so much recently. It didnt really click what it was doing for my game until my last round. I hit a ball into a greenside trap on a par 3, then thinned the bunker shot 10 yards over the green down a hill. I was pretty much resigned to a double or triple at this point, but ended up lipping out a tough uphill chip and tapped in for a bogey. I feel like short game unlocks saving blow up holes more than anything else and that is pretty huge

Also, to your 4th point: Lots of really good youtube golfers talk about how many different clubs they use for different chip shots. This had me kind of chasing the rabbit practicing with 4 different clubs. All I ended up doing was making my practice 1/4th as effective. I couldnt get used to 4 different feelings for release and distance. Now I mostly just practice with my 56 and use my 56 for the vast majority of shots and I feel like the consistency is really getting there

Dude 100% agree! I feel like as long as I’m keeping the ball in play, I’m going to put up a 85 or better. It helps minimize mistakes but time. Like even if you put yourself in a. Bad spot off the tee and have to punch out to a 50 yard shot. I feel like I can almost always give myself a look at par and that’s huge!
Great info @erndog! Important since most shots are done with wedges and putter!!

Awesome!! First, make sure you’re ready for the heat. There’s a ton of great public courses. If you’re a sports fan, the Texas Rangers GC and Cowboys GC are really neat. A bit on the expensive side, but both great. The course I’m at range member at, Texas Star, is one of the best munis in Texas. It’s in great shape and not super expensive, but a bit on the higher end. It’s a tough course but the back nine has some really cool holes. Pecan Hollow and Heritage Ranch are fantastic and they’re on the northern burbs.

I’m doomed then. My short game is garbage no matter how much I practice it. Lol.
