Finally someone does Maude Allen! Lol! One thing you left out was how she lived in the bombed out apartment for years like a modern Miss Havisham. Thank you for covering this odd and interesting character.

She shouldn't have to blame herself for her brothers crime.

Perhaps she knew he was a monster and had kept him under control. Many terrible ppl behave around good ppl they love. Just a thought, humans are fascinating animals.

The blame is probably coming from strangers who don’t even know her.

Her brother shouldn't have to blame her for not accepting her blatant guilt of not accepting responsibility for her Brother's crime. Ungrateful Wretch. 🎉

For some reason I thought it was the cook and later was convicted of it. And her brother was innocent could be another case I'm thinking of
I am a bellydancer/Oriental dancer and I perform with veils myself although somewhat more clothed (!) This episode made me realise I have been using the Expressionist movements the dancer is doing in the black and white clip, as well as using the veils similar to Maud’s, in my own dance, but without realising it! Thank you! 🦋 P.S. Seems Maud’s music was great too. Will watch the Brief Case episode about her brother. A cautionary tale 🦋
In a way she seems to have had an underlying sadness ,that wasn't shaken off easily but on the other hand led very full life, and lived to a good age. Thanks again for another well read story
Sad that she was treated so badly in the courts. Not fair at all! Thank you for the video!

Thanks for watching 😁
It’s sad how things ended. Being part of the theater so long, could she not have become a theater director or something similar?

Symptom of the times Sadly She did well to manage for so long in a discriminative and mysogonistic system Then the war I don’t know about you but I know of the dance of the seven veils and glad to hear of it’s origin
A fascinating unconventional life though it saddened me that she gave up music. I will now follow your link to the briefcase video on her brother - thank you!

Thanks for listening !!
When you started talking about the Dance of the Seven Veils I thought: I could have sworn there was another dancer famous for this dance and a gold Art Nouveau statue came to mind... I did some Googling and I think I was thinking of Loie Fuller, who did veil dances and who inspired multiple gold statues in Art Nouveau. She was referred to as "Electric Salome" which is why maybe I confused her with Maude Allen?

I love how some of these you tube creators work with and support each other.
Wow. Never knew he had a sister. I 've read a few bios about him over the years, and not a single one mentioned him having any siblings whatsoever, much less a sister. Fantastic work as always, sir.
She sounds amazing. She traveled the world and was able to create for a living and find independence. “Ruined” is the last word I’d use to describe this woman.
Thank-you for making my Sunday more interesting.

Thanks for this story of this beautiful eccentric lady who took dancing to the next level. FL always produces such great stories. Could you do a homege to Bethoven to the 200 anniversary of the 1st performance of the 9th symphony. Thanks
Always wonderful..

I havent watched your videos for a year or so and it seems like your diction has actually slipped a bit, take your time and enunciate, you have wonderful diction when you are on form!
Seems like she ruined her own life by spending all of her money

It’s over a hundred years ago, but the controversy seems like it could happen today. Interesting that lesbianism wasn’t criminalized, but I believe male homosexuality was.
Her brother had almost no bearing on her life, she brought a lot of negative elements into her life, like exploiting lovers and being reckless
I prefer Mauled Allan, the Geophysicyst that lost at life, and every ****ing thing else they put a feeby 'and at. Tworps. 🎉
i dont see how her murderous brother ruined her life. quite misleading
Those pictures are disgusting.

Which ones?
I don't see evidence of her brother ruining her life, it seems her general sexual attitude was the bigger issue at that time in history. One incident about her brother didn't ruin her, it was cumulative as it was for many artists from every genre.
I'd love to see you do a collab with @BriefCaseOfficial @TheCrimeReel or @DixieAfterDark
