Thank you so much - you make the difference 🖤
Well done !!!
I remember her appearing in her ads for her signature black jeans.
❤ lovely, thank you 🙏! I do remember watching a documentary featuring Gloria Vanderbilt quite a few years back. She was herself in this documentary, age about (my guess) around 70-75, and being interviewed about her former business endeavors. Jeans, perfumes, and a million other endeavors. As I remember it, she did quite well, but in a somewhat inconsistent way; she came across as someone who struggled quite a bit to stay independent & keep providing for herself and her younger kids. Wish I could remember more & about the context where I saw this. Edit: ✍️ that documentary was not exactly recently made. Let’s put it that way. It was part of some sort of double feature which also focused on Anderson Cooper & his success. Still wish I could find it & rewatch it, though.

6:30 "from the 1930's till her death, Gloria's mother would live with her sister Thelma Furness"....if I remember correctly Thelma Furness was in a relationship with David, Prince of Wales before he became Edward the 8th, abdicated, became Duke of Windsor and then married Wallis Simpson.
@maggieswithenbank6709

In fact Thelma Furness left England and David (Prince of Wales) to go help her sister fight her court battle in NYC. When she left her lover (David), she asked her good friend Wallis to keep him company. The rest is history…
Anderson cooper!? Wow that was a surprise! Great video!
Her designs specifically her jeans were very famous and expensive ( but were made for women) may she rest in peace thanks for your work 🙋
So beautiful I hope she found peace and serenity in the end..
Love your history shows! Ladies really need to evaluate the judgement of prospective husband. Poor judgement will wreck a marriage and family, as these stories show. Thanks, sir! History often repeats itself!
It doesn't matter whether or not Anderson Cooper needs the money! The issue is whether or not he's entitled! Geez man!

Not sure about the inheritance except that it was only $1.5 million. The oldest son, Leopold, owned landscaping companies and probably inherited a lot from his father. He had a good relationship with Gloria. The other son, Christopher, was estranged and is known to be a recluse. Again, he probably has plenty of money from his father. My guess is that they didn't need her inheritance and there wasn't much left. The Vanderbilt fortunes had been squandered away throughout the generations.

@@Joy-TheLazyCatLady1.5 million is hardly “only” 1.5 million. I understand that you say that by comparison to what they used to have; but that is still a boatload of money to inherit, and an amount that the overwhelming majority of the people of this world will never own.
@Joy-TheLazyCatLady

@@WhoWho569 by today's standards for the rich, that isn't a lot especially compared to what the family once had. My brother has about a million and he lives frugally. I, personally, could live a long time on $1.5 million. It's all relative.
@claudiacervantes5379

@@WhoWho569with the cost of living today 1.5 million would not last you your lifetime. Especially if it’s inherited when you’re young. If you’re older then yes. It’s a good amount. 1.5 million sounds like a lot but after inheritance tax and who knows what else the government feels they’re owed, you’re left with very little. Not to mention where you live and cost of living there. And of course inflation over the years.
What about her first 2 sons???? What happened to them? Why didn't she include them in her estate?? Why were they not well known about?? I never even knew she had 2 older children.

I would love to know more about her sisters story- I’ve only heard of Gloria but not her sister.
Anderson Cooper's a Vanderbilt?
I remember seeing Gloria Vanderbilt jeans and other clothes at Costco, JCPenney, and macys
She had a lifetime of loss after loss. Money doesn't buy happiness or love no matter how hard they try.

Well, that's daddy issues for you, can't really cast the stone on her since she had a pretty crap childhood, in a want for a father who was nothing but a no-good drunkard and gambler.
It doesn't matter if that thing that makes a person thrive is gone.
She was a strong & talented woman😮
One little correction Gloria's estate was inherited by her sons Stan Stokowski and Anderson Cooper. Her son Christopher Stokowski had been estranged from his family since about the 1970s.
She was beautiful. I bough a pair of Gloria Vanderbilt jeans just a few years ago and loved them.
Her 2 oldest son were estranged from her their choice and prefer to stay out of public eye
She allegedly testified against her mother after big Gloria decided to fire little Gloria's nurse, who was like a mother to her. Big Gloria brought it on herself. Little Gloria sounded like the most love-starved child in the world.
Andrew Carnegie was wise to not leave all his money to his wife and daughter. He left them the houses, an endowment, but that was it. His descendants all have regular jobs.
I had no idea that Anderson cooper was Gloria’s son!!!
That was cold to cut her mother off.
First a victim, then a confused young woman and alas a responsible adult. Chance was against her but she rose above. A happy ending
My mom met Gloria in 1978, she wanted my mom to model for her since she was tall and very skinny. But my mom didn’t have her green card yet. I wish she modeled for her, her life would’ve been better IMO
Very fine.
❤❤❤
Gloria is not in.the Vanderbilt mausoleum but out in the grass with her husband Cooper and son..
Anderson Cooper is a Vanderbilt iconic!
❤❤❤❤
❤
I often bought her jeans, but none fit the same, being made in different countries. Will never buy her jeans or anything else with her name again.
That would be Anderson Cooper cnn newsreader. What about the other 2 children?
Aunt Gertrude looks a bit off to me.
why is Gladys Vanderbilt offspring so overlooked, didn't they also inherit a huge amount of money from her mother ( Gladys Vanderbilt was the aunt of Gloria, sister of Gloria's father) Gladys was the one who inherited the Breakers estate, arguably the second most luxurious Vanderbilt mansion
Gloria was a chip off the old block.
You're wrong about her being buried. She is in that cemetery only the Vanderbilt men is buried in the vault
We have to thank her for giving us Anderson Cooper

Too bad the little girl had to be used as a pawn, and be treated in such a manner. Evidently her neglectful mother married only for money - a common situation among the rich.

Reggie did NOT leave it all to his daughters. He had squandered his wealth. but, he had a trust that was set up to give him the earnings. He could not touch the principal. That trust went to his 2 daughters as he had no sons. shortly before the big court case, Reggies mother, Alice died and left an inheritance for Reggies 2 orphaned daughters. The family did not want Gloria Sr to squander that money. And Gertrude had been caring for little Gloria while mama Gloria was off in Europe. The argument was - why should she continue to collect the increase from little Glorias trust while Aunt Gerturde was the one providing for her? Also, the nanny who was raising little Gloria told Aunt Gertrude all about the neglect and immoral activities of mama Gloria. If you want the real story read the book by Arthur Vanderbilt. Also, her eldest son did inherit from Gloria. This has so many errors.
