❤ lovely, thank you 🙏! I do remember watching a documentary featuring Gloria Vanderbilt quite a few years back. She was herself in this documentary, age about (my guess) around 70-75, and being interviewed about her former business endeavors. Jeans, perfumes, and a million other endeavors. As I remember it, she did quite well, but in a somewhat inconsistent way; she came across as someone who struggled quite a bit to stay independent & keep providing for herself and her younger kids. Wish I could remember more & about the context where I saw this. Edit: ✍️ that documentary was not exactly recently made. Let’s put it that way. It was part of some sort of double feature which also focused on Anderson Cooper & his success. Still wish I could find it & rewatch it, though.

Not sure about the inheritance except that it was only $1.5 million. The oldest son, Leopold, owned landscaping companies and probably inherited a lot from his father. He had a good relationship with Gloria. The other son, Christopher, was estranged and is known to be a recluse. Again, he probably has plenty of money from his father. My guess is that they didn't need her inheritance and there wasn't much left. The Vanderbilt fortunes had been squandered away throughout the generations.

Reggie did NOT leave it all to his daughters. He had squandered his wealth. but, he had a trust that was set up to give him the earnings. He could not touch the principal. That trust went to his 2 daughters as he had no sons. shortly before the big court case, Reggies mother, Alice died and left an inheritance for Reggies 2 orphaned daughters. The family did not want Gloria Sr to squander that money. And Gertrude had been caring for little Gloria while mama Gloria was off in Europe. The argument was - why should she continue to collect the increase from little Glorias trust while Aunt Gerturde was the one providing for her? Also, the nanny who was raising little Gloria told Aunt Gertrude all about the neglect and immoral activities of mama Gloria. If you want the real story read the book by Arthur Vanderbilt. Also, her eldest son did inherit from Gloria. This has so many errors.
