These days it is so easy to take an old bike and update it both visually and mechanically to compete with the brand new ones. My 06' CRF450R keeps up with my buddies who have brand new bikes just fine except when their having fuel pump/regulator problems. Its times like those I'm grateful my bike is carbureted!

I have an '05 450X and love it. I named it the Red Mule. I've been taking it out at least once a week, sometimes twice, for the last 8 months. Very reliable Big power for me. No problems with ANYTHING on my bike. I'm 54 yrs old and and love the consistent nature of this machine. Honda got it right with this one.

I rode a CRF450RX last week and let me tell... AMAZING BIKE. Suspension is wonderfully plush, I looove the weight (feels more substantial and planted under me than a 250 but way less heavy than say, a DRZ) but the power is simply TOO MUCH for me. It does NOT like to go slow, which makes it a lot of work in Enduro situations, but out in the open it is an absolute MONSTER! I'd definitely go for this bike if I was riding mostly wide open trails like in the video.

Amazing build. I have one 08 all stock and I use it only for single and very tight trails. I know the 250s are better for that kind of terrain. but after you manage how sensible is the throttle and tame it, the bike became easier to ride. besides, it is indestructible and the engine is rock solid.

You'll be amazed how much it costs to rebuild an old bike fully modded. In all honesty including the cost of the bike (even if you get a cheap one for $2000 like I did) it ends up costing the same if not more than a new bike. Love the old girl but wouldn't do it again

My bike is dual sport. With those nobbies that have to be DOT compliant, it's just not as good on pavement as my XR650L. The 450x will do it, but I wouldn't want to ride any distances. It's mostly to get you from one trail to the next on pavement. IMHO.

Sad state that the motors on these EXPENSIVE dirt bikes have a dependability and reliability that’s worse than my $100.00 Wal mart weed eater ! Especially when I put multiple hours of abuse into my weed eater for literally years and these stupid expensive bikes require rebuilds within very little time. That’s if it does not grenade itself and become a thousands of dollars rebuild !!!
