How Fructose Is Given the Bad Name | Eat Your Whole Fruits | Dr. David Katz | Mastering Diabetes

Are all fructose bad for you? How about fructose from fruits? If you've been paying attention to the internet, you may have heard these famous claims: sugar is “poison” and fructose is “toxic.” But if this is true. . . Then the fruits and vegetables in your pantry are toxin-releasing food sources? Undoubtedly, the claims are wrong. Look at the many aliases of sugar in food labels and packages and the manipulation behind our sugar addiction.
Fructose is a naturally occurring sugar in all fruits and many vegetables packed with water, antioxidants, vitamins, fiber, and minerals. And to widen your understanding of why fructose in whole fruits is good for you here's Dr. Davit Katz. Find out why the problem goes beyond the sugars themselves.
Here's the conversation:
00:00 - Fruits are healthy and good for diabetes
01:16 - Why table sugar and high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) are bad for you
04:30 - How food giants trick us with sugar and exploit our addictions

I’m glad you addressed this. Dr. Lustig says at least eat “Whole” foods. He won’t take sides other than that IMO. You need to eat carbs with soluble and in-soluble fiber to protect the liver from the damaging affects of pure fructose. Also I saw another Dr. say if you want to eat fruit, you have to have a lot of it which I know Robbie for example eats a ton of it with every meal but I wonder how practical that is for most people?

@@brendabrown1691 Thanks Brown for the concern much appreciated. I get my all blood checks once a year still so far so nothing to raise eye brows. Is there any special test for it you want to share. I have done fasting and glucose tolerance test million times and still within the recommended range. Two things people don't know about getting diabetes: 1. Diabetes is not caused by sugar but saturated fats. 2. Consumption of Animal products including dairy and Oil leads to accumulation of saturated fats that smear on cells making them insulin resistant and hence on set of diabetes. So, it's really vital to remove them from you diet. I would stay away from refined sugar as well which is pretty much ubiquitous. Fruit juice will definitely raise sugar levels for sure but not the whole fruit. I can certainly vouch for whole fruit anytime infact has capability to reverse diabetes. But big pharma won't tell you and why......

@@julianbrionesiii1340 Hmmm have you understood the meaning of the word refined? In a purer form. How does the body work harder to process something which is easier to digest? It is precisely because it is in purer form & can be consumed in larger amounts that it causes damage faster not because it is magically different. Fructose from whole fruit just takes longer to cause damage because we usually ingest less of it in one go but it is still toxic. Except for some berries & a few citrus most fruit has been selectively bred to have a higher sugar content. There is nothing natural about this. It just took thousands of years to achieve similar results to what we can do today by refining the products. Former diabetic & Keto vegan here so no need to argue with me about the benefits of whole plant foods. Just don't be under the misapprehension that because something is a wholefood that man has not interfered with it to a ridiculous level.
