How Elon Musk Took Tesla To Hell And Back With The Model 3 | CNBC Documentary

In 2003, a Silicon Valley startup called Tesla Motors came up with an ambitious plan that would transform the auto industry. Founders Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning set out to redefine the electric car. Cars that everyone would want- affordable, environmentally friendly and fast. Their master plan started with a low volume of expensive but alluring electric sports cars.
In 2004, well-known entrepreneur and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk invested millions of his own money and eventually became CEO. In less than 10 years, Tesla released the groundbreaking Roadster, Model S and Model X, all paving the way for its first affordable electric car, the Model 3. By 2016, Musk and Tesla looked unstoppable.
Over the next year, the company struggled to simply make cars. Tesla was plagued by manufacturing woes, financial losses, a controversial SolarCity acquisition and volatile decision making from its CEO. On top of that, some say Elon Musk was distracted by other projects like the Boring Company and Hyperloop One, was scrutinized for smoking pot on the Joe Rogan Experience, and tweeting that he was taking Tesla private for $420, which led to a SEC lawsuit.
Elon Musk says growing Tesla from the Roadster to Model 3 was a “hell of a ride,” and he took Wall Street along with him. Here’s the wild story of how Tesla started an EV revolution.

I like how this is so biased against the choices of Musk, but seeing it now a year and a half later and he's probably the most successful person that's ever existed. SolarCity is doing amazingly, SpaceX couldn't be better, and Tesla with it's batteries, alongside vehicles, is spewing out cars at incredible rates. New businesses coming into monopolized industries is hard, but if anyone things they could have done it better than Musk, you'd be wrong.

The biggest hole in this interview is: The Model 3 is a FANTASTIC car. Not just good, not just fast, not just interesting - it's a life changer. I've had a Model 3 since July of 2019. I drive 100 miles/day from the N side of Baltimore to the E side of DC - arguably one of the worst commutes in the US. The Model 3's autopilot - as early and incomplete as it is - is just completely amazing out on the highway. No, I don't 100% trust it - I keep my hand on the wheel ALL THE TIME - but 99.9% of the time it does great. But it's more than that - the calendar integration, the charging system even to setting the interior temperature so it's ready to go when I need to leave for work, the cellphone integration, the software updates...the list is huge. NO OTHER CAR COMPANY does hardly ANY of those things, much less ALL of them. The Model 3 is to electric vehicles what the Ford Model T was to gasoline cars - the brick that broke the mold. Prior to the Model T people had either really dicey gasoline cars or they still had horses. The Model 3 is the game changer. Is it perfect? No. Is it the best car Tesla will ever make? No. Is it the best vehicle on the market? Probably.

I enjoyed watching this. It brought back memories of what I was hearing vs what I decided to do and believe. It wasn't easy at times. I've been long TSLA many years. I've purchased many products, shares and know how great they are. There is so much noise that needs filtered. Almost all my colleagues doubted Tesla/EVs in the past. Now they all are driving Tesla's or going to order soon. Jim Cramer did a 180 on TSLA. I watched an old "Mad Money clip" -a lady called and bought TSLA like at $20, Cramer said "Sell, Sell, Sell!" Felt sorry for her.

Not only did she work long hours her commute was also ridiculous of 2 hrs each way/day ... that doesn’t leave a lot of hours in a day. Today she has her own business in Portland now as a cannabis farmer after selling her store which made the top 10 best businesses in Portland her first year. Elon Musk vision is something that was needed heavily in the car industry in terms of revolutionary innovation and envisioning the future of the industry. Developing cars which are well designed and harbor electric vehicle concept for the mass market, is a brilliant way to envision the future products for consumers who desire cars which don't need to run on gasoline and have access to the internet and new innovative technologies. The big reason I believe Tesla will be successful in the long run it is because of its vision to develop an amazing car for the masses. It is also great for the car industry itself as it will force other companies to become more competitive in the process and innovate their designs on their vehicles. Innovation and creativity in the industry is good for the consumers and the market which desire better vehicles. It is overall true that Tesla has gone through a lot with the company itself, Solarcity, Space X and Boring Company but when you see all these things evolve together they will in fact develop products which will develop the future for the world. The cars made by Tesla is a great car itself given its innovative features and pushing new technologies in the future. It is true that innovation and risks happen and some projects can fail along the way and even the most brilliant CEO's make mistake, but no one can deny Elon Musk genius here with his mass vision for his companies and products and what he desires to help push for humanity.

Where does electric power come from though? More countries do not rely on environmental sources to produce the maximum of their electricity. Thus electric cars are actually equally harmful as petrol fuelled cars.

31:50 "Elon obsessing about the media?"... This says everything about the media. Don't you all remember all the negative press he was receiving 2019 due to the people shortselling Tesla. Media blaming the problem on Elon Musk, for the amount of effort he has done to advance human civilization as well as inspiring others. I believe the media owes him an apology.

They talk about how dangerous autopilot is but they forget to say that tesla's are the safest cars on the road. Never did they mention that they were outselling mercedes and BMW. Never did they mention the model 3 after it was a success and was being produced properly. Never did they mention the lead in battery and powertrain. This video is bias and wrong.
