How Does He Sing Like That?! (& other questions) | A Conversation with Tim Waurick | The Daily Doug
Музыка
#TimWaurick #interview
In this episode of #thedailydoug, I'm speaking with vocalist extraordinaire Tim Waurick. Tim is a hall-of-fame vocalist in the Barbershop Harmony Society, and he has started to publish his art and work on KZread and other sites (wowing everyone who has seen and heard). He was nice enough to sit down with me and discuss his story, ongoing work, vocal technique, and love of this special type of ensemble singing. We listen to two of his recent videos along the way! I hope you enjoy. (Episode 461)

Tim is the MAN! Not sure that I know a more humble, and genuine dude than him. And his talent is truly hard to comprehend… Fantastic interview!!
Yes !! When worlds collide, what a gift can't wait
For those of us who are Barbershop arrangers, there is nothing better than having Tim record one of your arrangements. He is absolutely the BEST. Thanks for this fantastic interview, Doug.

@@coyleks4 I couldn't agree more.
I had tears in my eyes and chills throughout my entire body after hearing this. God creates beautiful voices in his children. Thank you Tim.🙏🙏🙏
Love, Love Love Tim, amazing I smiled and cried at the same time for bridge over troubled waters
GOAT!
Shout out to St. Charles, my hometown! (And UMSL)
My discovery of Barbershop has been largely through Tim, learning songs through Timtracks. My own vocal performance has improved, undoubtedly, but I keep going back to the tracks to hear what perfection sounds like. Thanks, Tim, and keep up the great work - new tracks and KZread videos. I can’t get enough of listening to your voice. You and Vocal Spectrum.
Proud to know Tim as a GREAT friend and I am always amazed at his singing. Love ya Tim! Great to see you on here!
Would love to hear you do a reaction video to Tim performing O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
Great story he sounds great 👍
Wow what a surprising show! This was really fun! And what a great singer Tim is! Definitely Bohemian Rhapsody dude!!
It is always jawdropping when two worlds collide. Tim and Doug? In one video?
Worlds are colliding! I've been watching The Daily Doug for many months for all the content and reactions of Prog music, my favourite kind of music to listen to. Then of course Doug's choral background relates to my own. But now to see Tim Waurick on it - Barbershop is the style of singing I've been doing the most of over the past 30 years, and as such have been listening to Tim's singing for many of those years!
❤ Tim you are the greatest! Doug thanks for the show. Your doing everything I like to listen to.
Wow! I can tell he doesn't inhale! 😆 Tim you are so gifted! Thanks for sharing!!!
This was such an awesome interview, i really like Tim’s work and im glad that both of you had the chance to have this conversation
Tim, you are my hero!
I would never have believed that both of my musical passions-Rush songs and Barbershop Harmony would so delightfully collide right here at “The Daily Doug”!! I’ve seen Tim and Vocal Spectrum numerous times live (Harmony College NW) and was fortunate enough to see Rush live in concert 22 times. This is a wonder episode!! Kudos to Doug and Tim!!
Tim is the greatest!! Very interesting interview!! Loved it! ❤️
The "Bridge" arrangement was heavy on the Doo-Wop, heard that from the outset, but SUPER cool to hear him cut it with 10 (!!!!) multi-tracks. Lot of video editing work there. Might only take him a couple hours to record it, but I bet it takes a lot longer to get everything perfectly lined back up for the releases. Holy hell.
Thank you Doug and Tim for this wonderful interview. Aside from the great talent, I love Tim's energy and enthusiasm; it's infectious. I'm hooked, I'm subscribed, and I look forward to hearing more!
I always thought of David Phelps when I would hear Tim sing on his channel. I can definitely see some of DP's influence with Tim.
What an outstanding interview! Love all this geekspeak! So informative!
Queen's catalog is so ripe for good covers--Bohemian Rhapsody, Prophet Song and so many more! But my suggestion for Tim's "holy grail" would be his choice of ANYTHING from Todd Rundgren's 1985 album 'A Capella'. Thanks for bringing this guy to my attention, Doug--I really dig barbershop!
Love Tim's face watching his video back like "yeah I made that" lol Really enjoyed the interview Doug would love to see other big name faces in barbershop it really is a fun group to discuss with
This is just insane. Insane. Who is this guy and where has he been all my life.
I would classify Tim as a full lyric tenor. It’s the middle of the tenor categories. Sizeable, fluid, doesn’t live super high, but can definitely vacation there often.
I adore the Westminster Chorus recording of this arrangement of Bridge Over Troubled Water. Hearing Tim perform it is just spectacular!
Thank you Doug, love this interview. It's really cool how you are covering genres other than what we mostly hear on your channel. This enables us all to expand our musical horizons. Also really looking forward to your interview with Rachel Flowers. Keep up the good work!
Fantastic interview! ❤🎶💈x
Energizing!
Like that he mentions doing semi occluded vocal track exercises and bubbles singing exercises.
Very interesting interview I’m a big Tim fan
Dude this is so cool
He did it again...
Tim is a national treasure who can really go the distance! (Parody of “I Can Go The Distance” from Disney’s “Hercules”) Think it’s time to say Tim can go the distance Always finds a way To hold a note so long And with his bright smile In his flawless style Hope there’s no resistance To be right there and sing along No matter what the octave, he’ll sing ev’ry part For a singer’s strength is reflected in his heart His heart! In his heart! His heart! His heart! Though it may seem odd Tim can go the distance Best voice in the world Peerless, loud and strong We exclaim, “My God!” “Tim can go the distance!” In our hearts he’s always welcome Right where he belongs © 2022
And by the way, I’m hearing a lot of David Phelps influence in your tenor parts - and that’s quite a compliment (as you well know)

I'm actually good friends with David! I have a couple of videos covering his versions of songs on my channel!!
I like Tim Tams and Ten Tims! 😃
To further comments that Tim made about the parts…. Baritone is the hardest part to learn and the easiest part to sing. Lead is the easiest part to learn, but it’s the hardest part to sing. Once you learn the funky baritone part, you just need to fit in. Even though the melody is easy to learn, you have to drive and tell the story and support the other three parts in creating music and performance.
Instead of starting the stopwatch on “-long”, it should have started on the “where” of the “where I belong”.
One of my "Holy Grail" songs I would like to hear barbershop is "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" by The Platters
I think my favorite track done by Tim is Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea as sung by the Ringmasters.
Awesome video! Also, Tim if you need tag arrangements for stuff you want to sing, I’m down to arrange! Haha 😍😍
hey doug! please do me a solid and react to Jethro tull - Passion play album. I just saw how much you enjoy thick as a brick, and passion play is the other great progressive album of Jethro. you gonna love it.
You may want to react to Steve Vai: Freak show excess.
Doug, Could you please react to some Warren Zevon ? I am listening to ''Finishing Touches'' from his Mr Bad Example album as I type this. He was incredibly talented and classically trained by Igor Stravinsky well worth listening to his work. There is ''French Inhaler'' ''Desperados under the eaves'' ''Transverse city'' to name a few
Doug, I would love to see you react and analyse In the Name of God, or any other song by Dream Theater. Greetings from Brazil!
hello please do opeth- the baying of the hounds, incredible transitions, extremely cerebral, yet melodical...you're gonna dig it !!
lmao “just shut up!”
