No, Sir! Not minor! Dorian mode. Do, Te, LA, So. Minor would be Do Te Le So. That adds a great deal to its appeal at a time when other Dorian pieces were in the atmosphere, like "Scarborough Fair."

Dickey and Duane were listening to Miles and the Trane before Dickey wrote this. You can really hear the Coltrane influence in this piece.

It was Dicky when you asked. It was Duane in the later solo. For the entire Live At Fillmore Dicky is in your right ear and Duane is in your left ear, assuming you have your headphones on correctly. Awesome jazzy tune, one of the best! Also, in the drum interlude, it's Jaimoe in the left ear and Butch in the right ear.

I love when you said you went to deep dive for the degrees. No outside music. When I write an album, I’m AM/FM radio listening to sports. I want something on in my car but not music.

When you said the beginning of that song sounded jazzy, you're not too far from the truth! One of Duane's and Gregg's favorite albums was Kind of Blue by Miles Davis. It was on that album in which all the musicians were free to be spontaneous when they did their own solos. So, whenever the Allman Brothers Band jammed on their own instrumentals, most everyone (including the drummers!) took a turn doing a solo.

Saw Priest 3 times between 1980 and 1982, each time with Maiden warming up (DiAnno and Dickinson). Priest won the first 2 times, but the 3rd time when Dickinson entered the scene was a Maiden rout. Most impressive and dominating performance by a warm-up band I've ever seen.

The thing about Allman Brothers is that the original lineup didn’t exist very long so there aren’t a lot of different tunes to listen to but they never played a song the same way twice so each recording is it’s own entity. Some nights Duane would be on, other nights Dickey was the better player. Duane plays the second solo here and just explodes. This was his night. And if I’m not mistaken, they blended the solos from different nights so it’s the best of both guitarists. Berry was more of a third guitarist. He wasn’t just playing A’s and D’s. The tone shift duane employees at 15:53 just gives me goosebumps

Hi Doug. Thanks for the tribute to Dickey Betts. Just a small correction, the drummers name, affectionately called Jaimo, is pronounced "Jay Johnny Johnson", despite the spelling. Duane even pronounces his name at some point on the album. I think it's after "You Don't Love Me". He says "Dickey Betts, Butch Trucks, Jay Johnny johnson, Gregg Allman, and I'm Duane Allman. Thank you."

"Seven Turns" is a great D.B. song. If you have never stopped off in Macon, you're missing something special if you are an ABB fan. The Big House where they lived and is now a museum, is not far off I 75. The cemetery is across the interstate, but it has it's on intrigue with the brown river and train tracks just down the hill from some of the bands final resting place.

The intro guitar pattern is done using his pinky finger to move the volume up and down as he plays. That’s Dickey doing that, as well as the first solo.

Friend, as a long time FF fan who grew up on Nobuo Uematsu, I have just a few recommendations: First of all, FF7 has the most quantity of thematic pieces with powerful and defined melodies. It is worth revisiting a bunch of songs from this one; but out of all the other pieces, the FF7 Main Theme is a dynamic piece that I would love to see your reaction to. In Final Fantasy 8, the obvious choice is Liberi Fatali, but it would be worth comparing it to "THE SUCCESSION OF WITCHES" that uses the same theme. FF8 has a lot of songs that are really good themes for the parts they're meant to play. FF9's "Place I'll Return to Someday" is a super pretty piece, but super short. Also Vivi's theme is fun and different, but again very short. One of the longer pieces is the main battle music. Anyone who's played this one has heard it a million times. FF10 the obvious choice is To Zanarkand. There are a lot of good songs in 10, but To Zanarkand is The One. Beginning with FF10 Nobuo Uematsu was involved less as entries went on. And sad to say, but the music became less thematic and memorable. Honorable Mention to: Kingdom Hearts' "Dearly Beloved" by Yoko Shimomura. (Kingdom hearts is a collaboration between the makers of final fantasy, and Disney. It's literally Final Fantasy and Disney mixed together.)

Blue Sky off the Eat A Peach album features one of Duane Allman’s final recordings before his tragic death. This is a Dickie Betts song featuring alternating solos and a duet of Duane and Dickie.
