    I see God as God. My temptation is just that. A temptation. I didn't choose homosexuality. I do however choose daily not to engage in it. But I am saved and love God. Again being tempted by Homosexuality doesn't mean that I've rejected God as God.

    How does this discussion change shape when ministering to Christians (even ministers) who believe homosexuality isn't wrong? One of my best friends, and one of the most compassionate ministers I know, is an open homosexual, and I have struggled with how to maintain that relationship in light of this topic.

    The defining factor is God’s word. Whether we view it as good or wrong doesn’t matter. Hod said his ways aren’t our ways. What ever anyone sin is ofc we are to love them the same. We can love someone and still not condone what they do without judging them. But homosexuality denies the grand design of what he created us to be. His word says that he has great Male and Female. So to deny that or any other word from the lord is denying his authority.

    Pornography is a sin. Sex outside of marriage is a sin. Lusting after someone is a sin. I’ve struggled with them all. I was born that way. It’s still sin. We all sin, and we’ll all struggle until we’re finally taken from this world and cleansed of our unrighteousness once and for all…

    Where you born straight? Attracted to the opposite sex? Did you choose that? No you didn't and you are probably married with about 10 kids and have sex with your wife anytime you want. Don't pretend like it is the same thing. The church is not asking you to never have an orgasm.

    @@NC-vz6ui a couple of additional words in my post would certainly have helped.. lol. I was born with a strong sex drive. I have to keep it under control. Some are born with a tendency toward addiction, me included. I have to keep it under control. Some are born with a tendency towards hot tempers and violence. We have to keep it up under control. Some can’t afford to feed themselves, but they can’t steal. I could go on forever. We all face difficulty. We’re all born into sin. We all sin, and are all guilty and need a savior. I’m honestly not trying to be decisive. So so many have sexual/relationship related issues, and it’s a big big deal. There are many people who don’t have a sex life for all kinds of reasons, but they have to work it out. That fact doesn’t resolve the very real issue, but it is a fact that we need to take into consideration. I’m not going to take the time to detail my life, but I know it’s a very difficult thing. The one thing I never heard was God’s promise to provide a person with an orgasm. God made us male and female, so we need to realize that he’s the expert. At this point I don’t think anyone in this fallen world even knows what a normal sex drive is. We need to remember that we were created to glorify God and have fellowship with him forever. This life is only a blip on the timeline of eternity, and while I’m confident God understands our struggles, He knows what’s best for individuals and mankind as a whole. I imagine he wants us to focus on heavenly things more than orgasms. Imagine, Christ saying they Kingdom of God is at hand, and a bunch of people standing there with protest signs saying “WE WANT ORGASMS!”. Sorry, I don’t want to make light of the situation, but I couldn’t help myself… We do need to remember to keep things in the proper perspective. ❤️❤️❤️

    @@lawtonsegler1923 Your view is completely dishonest, and equates sexual attraction to sin. People having sexual dysfunction is not the same thing as sexual attraction. Is your attraction to women dysfunctional? The church is teaching toxic doctrine that is literally killing people, causing parents to put their kids out, causing people to commit suicide, psychological harm, fueling a bigotry, hatred, and all you can do is down play, down play, down play and come up with stupid sayings from a literal reading of Genesis. I agree God is the expert, but your interpretation is not. If Genesis is prescriptive for all time, then we better engage in incest, forbid people who can not have children from marrying, and all be vegan. You are not being targeted, you have a pathway to express your sex drive. LGBT people don't! All because you think and have no evidence that God did not create them that way. They can not crucify their sexual attraction, no more than you can. God gave us a sex drive and orgasms for a reason. If you were permitted from marrying you would have a completely different view.

If men and women were not supposed to be together, we wouldn’t exist now would we? Let’s leave religion out of this just for a second and discuss things from a NATURAL point of view. Natural, meaning for one example, the ability for procreating, like all species are meant to do. I've met gay men & women. I've known gay men & women. I work with gay men & women. Statistically - you'll have too. I've never met one that's said they're gay because they're rebelling against god in any way. That suggests that their sexuality, is a deliberate decision to ignore their true sexuality - to try and upset god. That's just not accurate. I'm straight, I can't imagine being so rebellious, annoyed - whatever - that I'd go out of my way to have sex with another man. Not even once, let alone a whole life time. I think this needs to be seen in context of biblical times, and what was trying to be achieved... Imagine trying to spread a religion, and/or to increase your number. Are gay people going to be helping to increase your number? No. So guess what - no gays allowed. Cos you won't be having babies.

    Hi Neil. Here's the way I understand the video. A person doesn't necessarily choose who they are attracted to - some people are attracted to the opposite sex, and some people are attracted to the same sex. The person in the video, from what I understand, isn't saying that a person experiencing feelings of same sex attraction are rebelling against God. Rather, the implication is that when you ACT on those feelings, that is when one rebels against God. This is no different, however, from a person acting on his or her heterosexual desires outside of what God says is acceptable. We're all broken by sin in some way, and that sin manifests in rebellion against God in many different ways. That's why we need Jesus - he's the only one who saves us from our sins and from the wrath of God.

    Homosexuality is NOT a sin! Homosexuality - like heterosexuality and bisexuality - is a state, condition or orientation. As such, they are morally neutral. The words homosexuality, heterosexuality and bisexuality never appear in the Bible because they were coined in 1892 by Charles Gilbert Chaddock in a translation of Richard von Krafft-Ebing's study on sexual practices. And this is the point: Even if one agrees that the Biblical descriptions of carnality do in fact correlate to our present-day understanding through the use of those terms, NOWHERE in the Bible is homosexuality itself condemned - ONLY ITS PRACTICE. NOWHERE in the Bible is heterosexuality itself condemned - ONLY ITS PRACTICE OUTSIDE OF BIBLICAL MARRIAGE. Failure to distinguish clearly between the STATE of homosexuality and its PRACTICE is sloppy thinking at best and homophobic at worst.

    Homosexuals are NOT sinners! Today's medical knowledge was not available to St. Paul. That shows that his opinion is his own, not God's. He was not writing for today, but a pastoral letter to a church in his time. And which St. Paul? Textual analysis has proved that there were two authors. One group (mentioning his time in Arabia) is considered to be the writings of the Apostle. But that is scientific evidence, to be discarded by religion, as the Catholic Church did to Galileo?

  • @micah3209

    @micah3209

    The problem here is with what is passing for medical knowledge, not what was available to Paul when writing under inspiration from the Holy Spirit. As for "which Paul" it's the same Paul throughout. Textual analysis only shows he used different scribes at different times to take down his thoughts, this is a well known practice throughout the ancient world.

    Being gay or lesbian is not a sin. Being a part of the LGBTQ community is not a sin. I think it is disingenuous to suggest that being LGBTQ is "an expression of" rebellion against God. In fact, there is mounting evidence that sexual orientation is determined by an admixture of both nature and nurture, and, thus, is not a choice. There are also plenty of LGBTQ people who are Christians and there are many Christian denominations that support the LGBTQ community.

    Hi John. I definitely understand the points that you are making. Before I share mine, I'd like to clarify some terminology to make sure that I'm responding to what you are saying. When you say that "being gay or lesbian is not a sin," I'm thinking that you are saying that a person can embrace the lifestyle associated with each of those terms and be alright with God. In other words, if a man wanted to marry a man or a woman wanted to marry a woman, you're saying that God would be okay with that. That's my understanding of what I think you're saying. If you are, then I'd have to disagree, because the Bible doesn't support anyone domesticating sin of any form. If a person, on the other hand, struggles with same sex attraction, but doesn't act on those desires because of his or her faith in Jesus, then that person is taking up his or her cross and following Jesus, which is something that pleases God. In other words, experiencing desires of any manner that are contrary to God isn't sin, but acting on those desires is when the person gives in and sins.
