Ойын-сауық

By the way, if any of these topics feel uncomfortable, that’s the point. Throughout the year, we try to release content that uplifts and celebrates Filipino narratives, but during FAHM, we like to focus on topics that don’t often get the spotlight - but topics that matter to our Filipino community nonetheless. So we do welcome your discussion, and we acknowledge that this video alone won’t cover everything nor have all the answers. Thank you so much for watching, and we hope to hear your constructive feedback!

Think of it this way: While we're not the most accepting and the most tolerant of nations when it comes to the LGBTQ+, and while we shouldn't be satisfied with the current state of sociopolitics in regards with the LGBTQ+ and we should strive to make it better until we have reached equity, you can live here regardless of skin color or sexuality or gender preferences without having to look over your shoulders. First world countries can't even get to the point where we are today. Case in point, they have literal organizations recognized by their left leaning governments that advocate for the removal of rights of the LGBTQ+.

Another thing, specific to the Filipino take on gay men, is the lack of understanding about being a homosexual man vs the local image of "kabaklaan". Not all gay men are effeminate, and gay men do not equate to trans men or gender queer men, and all of these are ok and should be respected and accepted. There's such a huge difference between these, and hence a big disconnect among mainstream Filipino society and what the world is starting to understand. More masculine gay men don't really seem to prosper in Filipino society. They're branded as straight men who are mentally sick, pinakulam, or sexually "perverted" due to their natural sexual preference. They are the ones who are mostly beaten up by family members, forced to conversion therapy or into forced marriages (especially in the provinces). So it always pays for a Pinoy gay man to act overly effeminate in PH society, and many have to play up with an effeminate mask just to gain a level of acceptance and immunity from wider society that they would never get by being their less "glamorous" selves. It's the opposite of what happens in the West. Straight Filipinos, research what a "gay bear" or "muscle bear" is (without seeing the porn lol). Being a "bear" is the standard of gay male beauty and desire for gay men in the Western world and Middle East, and most of East Asia (particularly Japan, China and South Korea). There are Asian bears, Black bears, Hispanic bears etc.. It will shock you how different your hitherto limited image is of what being gay means from the reality of what kinds of men actually are gay. I don't think Filipino society (especially our 6-10% Muslim brothers and sisters who are diametrically opposed to any acceptance of gay men due to their religion) is ready to accept that the most masculine men can be just as gay as the most effeminate men, and that sexuality doesn't equal one's behaviour, body type, speech patterns or clothing preferences. An accurate and sobering portrayal of an old Filipino gay man is the independent film "Bwakaw". Highly recommended.

I get that you want 'masculine gays' to he recognized as "gay too" BUT your argument is so petty and full straight BS. Effeminate gays are more prone in experiencing harrassment (whether outside or within their household) than those "masculine gays". They encounter harassment and bullying because they act "too gay". Filipinos have this 'macho mentality' so if you're gay and effeminate there's a possibility that you'll get beaten up or even disowned by your family particularly your conservative father. We often hear a phrase such as "wag kang lalambot-lambot" or "ok lang maging bakla basta wag masyado" that often imposed to effeminate gay kids. Another example of that BB Gandang Hari and Vice Ganda who are both forced to hide being effem gays because of their homophobic father. They also forced to be in a relationship (or even married) with cis-woman and forced to act masculine just to stop being effem gays. So I don't get how and why you think "masculine gay men" are the one who are often experiencing harrassment than effeminate gays when in reality it's the latter that often experiencing those things. Also, let's be real here masculine gay men are branded as "straight/heterosexual men" because MOST OF THEM don't want to labeled as "gay/bakla/bading". They rather labelled themselves as "bisexual" than being labelled as "gay". These masculine gay men hate being compared by effeminate gays. MOST OF THEM hate dating effem gays whether irl or on dating apps. Your argument is an example of how "masculine/gym gays" exclude themselves from other type of gays. Most of them are the reason why there's still inner homophobia within the LGBTQ+ community. Effeminate gays are more known and recognize by filipino society because they're more loud and proud. They fought for it. They're the main reason why gays or LGBTQ+ are more tolerated by our society.

@@jhayem636 all I read is you projecting your bullshit biases, subjective beliefs, and assumptions onto gay men who aren't like you. Try to accept other points of view that don't seem to tally up to your lens of the world. It's people like you who make the LGBT community here immensely toxic and unaccepting. Take a lesson or 10 from how the LGBT community is in Western countries and how people accept diversity. If you don't like it, you're nothing but a pro-fem fascist using "we're more oppressed than you" as your excuse to shit on others. Your statements are absolutely not true. The abuse happens whether you're masculine or feminine gay as Philippine homophobia is not based on macho culture but on Abrahamic (Christian and Islamic) beliefs in the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah, (or "people of Lut" in Islam) being an abomination before God. Get your head out of the sand and look around you.

Fully agree with this!! 💯 Our society is still not open-minded enough to accept that so called 'normal looking' non feminine men who happen to be gay by birth are NOT dangerous, possessed, perverts, evil, or whatever..... Philippine society trusts the feminine bakla, ala Vice Ganda, way more if ever because society cannot think that a person's sexuality is a separate concept from their personality, mannerism and gender! 🤦🏾‍♂️ If a man is into basketball, soccer, powerlifting, cars or whatever and was into guy stuff growing up, but happens to be sexually or romantically attracted to other men, he's not "pretending"... He's just living his truth. Just accept him!! The same for a woman who is lesbian and is genuinely feminine while being sexually or romantically attracted to other women. She is not hiding her tomboy-ness... She's just being herself. Just accept her!! Same case for bisexual people.

Filipinos have very different ideas about what it means to "accept" LGBT people. To some, it only refers to refraining from violence and the most overt forms of discrimination...but will allow for social pressure to remain celibate, dress according to traditional gender norms, etc. Things like marriage equality are considered by some to "special privileges" that LGBT's want at the expense of the majority. They may trot out the old saying about loving the sin and hating the sinner. Basically, such people would defend an LGBT person from a basher and respect their right to legal redress, but would disagree with the SOGIE Bill and worry about "indecent" gay people being a bad influence on their children. This attitude is fairly common in the Philippines, and I believe it should be addressed in campaigns to pass the SOGIE Bill. Do you think it would help the discussion to have more precise words to distinguish between different understandings of the word "acceptance?" Or would you say the set of beliefs described above should not be called acceptance at all?

That's because the SOGIE Bill affects not only gay people but everyone. One example is the lgbtq being allowed using the opposite gender's bathroom. If you're a gay man, you can use the women's bathroom and a gay woman is allowed to use the men's bathroom. Question. How can you prove if someone is gay/lgbtq? Is it how they dress? Do they have an ID saying they're lgbtq? No, it's by their "preference." So, if I am a straight perverted man, I can walk into the women's bathroom and undress there or use their restroom. You going to say, "you can't use this bathroom because you're not gay." I'll just simply say, "How can you prove that I am not gay/lgbtq?" Since it's my preference, then according to SOGIE Bill, I can go in and out of women's bathroom. The reason we're against the SOGIE Bill is not because we don't accept gay but we don't trust everyone to be honest about their "preference" and this can be used to bend a lot of laws. In the same situation, since no one can prove that I am not part of lgbtq, then I can even sue ANYONE who says that I am not a member of lgbtq via SOGIE Bill. And according to the law, I am "Innocent until proven guilty" so I don't need to prove that I am gay but rather, the accuser needs to prove that I am not gay. Does this makes sense? Again, it's not that we don't accept the lgbtq, it's more so to protect others from abusing the said law by people who aren't part of LGBTQ.

Have you read SOGIE? Opinion ko lang to ha, I don't think it will benefit everybody, especially the majority... It encroaches on the established definitions that our society stands upon like "man" or "woman" by introducing lazily put together concepts like "gender identity", which ironically bases it's judgement on stereotypes, making it seem as though being a man/woman is a performance rather than a person's intrinsic trait. It is also self destructive, with the first half (LGB) being dependent on the societal structures that the second half (TQIA+) is trying to dismantle, "a snake eating its own tail" as others might say... depending on how much power the concept of "gender" will have over society's definitions, it can ripple over to sports, medicine, pageants, single-sex exclusive spaces, etc. making the whole point of men/women futile = your sexuality futile... we're walking on slippery slopes with this one, so don't be surprised by how long it's taking the country to approve it, the choice is not as simple as 1+1=2 after all.

This video deserves more recognition in the Philippines and everywhere in the world. People everywhere should know that the LGBTQIA+ community in the Philippines are met with gaslighting, tolerance, discrimination, passive aggression, and most of all, HATE in forms of persecution, sexual harassment, murder and rape. And the main perpetrators of these damages are the Christian/Catholic churches, and the Philippine government itself. It’s 2022 and the LGBTQIA+ community in the Philippines is yet to see any form of protection, from discrimination and religion-based hate, from the government.

(1:15) Okay heads UP before reading this: this is base from what IK and like my understanding and experience of the culture so please respect, you dont have to agree and if im wrong you can correct me respectfullly > > > > > > > > > > okay as a bisaya let me tell you one thing (well not really one thing)...we dont actually use the term "Bakla" in fact its people from the north that used that a lot, the modern equivalent of the tagalog Bakla word is Bayot (depending on location it would be another word but this word is used in areas that use the cebuano bisaya like cebu, bohol, areas of negros and also my opinion but I got a feeling its from the old term which is Bayok ), the ancient term about trans shaman women (well more accurately feminine guys, since these shamans or priests are guys who act, speak, and just more on the feminine side and depending on who they like they can either be with a girl or guy) is Babaylan (description Bayok), babaylan were shamans of Pre-col Visayan society (while for tagalogs that would be the Katalonan, description Asog, terms really depends on the area idk the others ver) they help the society in like rituals and practices stuff, babaylan is not only a trans thing, Both Girl and specifically feminine Guys were the ones in charge, those that see themselves as men usually (mostly) like do the fighting or idk guy stuff they aren't allowed to do that. in modern day Visayas (cebuano speaking bisaya) there is a word to describe boyish girls/feminine guys its, (Bi)Pinabay (pinababay), Pangbabay /Pinalaki/pinalalaki ,Panglalaki - the translation would be like Girl-like, Guy-like/ Guy-ish example A tomboy , a girl that acts like a guy but not necessarily a transman or lesbian, like we would say Panglalaki imong sanina - your clothes are guy-like, (but heads up the word tomboy, since in english speaking places it means ,Definition of tomboy : a girl who behaves in a manner usually considered boyish, in PH that could be either be just that or most of the time we associate it with *lesbians* who are guyish) Not all PH culture is the same throughout the islands just like any part of the country and, like, lets say you are speaking to a tagalog person and you talking to him/her bout a friend of yours and you said "Bayot siya" (He/She is gay Note: Bayot is a very broad description for anyone gay or like acting/looking like one but not neccesarily is one, i can call a bayot , bayot, girl bayot, a guy bayot, ) the Tagalog unless he/she understand cebuano bisaya the person would know what you are saying, otherwise the would not understand the word "Bayot", so yeh being consistent would be nice instead of mixing stuff cause PH culture do be different from each other, also hopefully people would read more about pre-colonial Philippine islands history or heck historical time period and stories from other areas of the country cause they are seriously interesting (I find a lot of PH media don't really talk about the cultures, traditions and lifestyle of other areas of the country even Norther Luzon (like batanes group of islands) which is honestly disappointing, it would be nice if instead we get the same telenovela stories, it would be like documentaries or idk fun fact stuff, like a kuya kim segment but about PH Past and Present history ,languages , cultures and trads, etc. but anyway that's just my wishful thinking at the works)

Preach equality by segregating them and giving them separate rights? We have human rights. All are equal under the law because we are all human. Our society already has countless problems, if we decide to veer away from reality and favor self-perception and mere feelings, then it means anyone can do whatever they want based on how they feel. You can see yourself whatever you feel like, but your delusion cannot be forced onto others. A man is male, a woman is female, and these people do not have the right to force anyone to believe they are otherwise and what is factually untrue.

PROFESSING TO BE WISE, THEY BECAME FOOLS, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man-and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to DISHONOR THEIR BODIES among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for THE LIE, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to VILE PASSIONS. For even their WOMEN EXHANGED the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, MEN WITH MEN committing what is SHAMEFUL, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, GOD GAVE THEM OVER TO A DEBASED MIND, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, SEXUAL IMMORALITY , WICKEDNESS, covetousness, MALICIOUSNESS; full of envy, murder, strife, DECEIT, EVIL-MINDEDNESS ; they are WHISPERERS, BACKBITERS, HATERS OF GOD, VIOLENT, PROUD BOASTERS, INVENTORS OF EVIL THINGS, DISOBEDIENT TO PARENTS, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful;.."

And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Notice how the first is the Lord. And if the Lord hates it, coz I love Him first, I love what He loves & I hate what He hates. I can quote you the whole scripture and if you refuse to see & hear what God is saying, (not what I'm saying but what He is saying through His Word)..it won't matter. At least you're informed at this point! And when it's time for you to face Him on judgment day- you will have no excuse that no one told you! Truth doesn't become less of a Truth just because you refuse to believe it.

Im sure my comment isn’t going to be a popular one but you know what I don’t give a damn and if we are going to express freedom of speech then I consider I’m not doing anything wrong by expressing my feelings here The worst problem in Philippines isn’t poverty. The economy here and tourists are growning so this means eventually the Philippines will profit big time. It has the most amazing beaches I’ve even seen and landscapes that you will never forget. Great place to hang out absolutely beautiful and I hope this country will see a lot more tourism because it definitely deserves it. There’s a but here. There are so many transgenders, homosexuals and lesbians, it’s to much too count. Way more then I’ve even seen anywhere in the world. I wonder how this country that is deeply religious, become world leader and safe heaven for gay paradise. It’s that much, that it’s really annoying, I’m getting flirted with more by transgenders then real woman. It’s crazy. So I talk to people, the amount of queers is so much, they are putting heterosexual people into the spotlight for expressing their concerns. If this goes on for 50 to 75 years, the amount of gay people will be greater then hetero people. This will be a very big problem for the country since LGBTQ MAY EXPRESS that they’re free to do what they want but still form a very small percentage of the complete population. Im talking 1/1000, but here the number is 1/2. This makes me truely believe a person isn’t born like this, because of the simple fact that the amount of gay in this country, is crazy high. And I refuse to believe a Filipino has more chance to be born gay, then a western or non Filipino. Also social media, television shows all are being hosted by either a homo or a trans. It’s ridiculous and the people should rise up to this scaring development in this country and raise healthy capable men and woman that aren’t being influenced or talked into becoming gay.

I think, what is worse than LGBT is men raping left and right, raping their children for years and having multiple wives and children they cannot feed. There's child marriage too. There's just so many men like this. I just walk in the streets and they flirt, at work they're abusive. It's sad. There are so many men in jails but it the crime never ends every day. One person is raped per hour by men. Imagine how vile that is.

Our Security and Freedom of Faith to God and in His Word will be in great danger if they continue the SOGIE bill. It is because Churches, Pastors/Priests, Christians can be imprisoned and/or penalized if the LGBTQ+ get offended of the following, see few listed below; 1) Sharing the Gospel and consequences of Sins to them through verbal or written. 2) Do not allow them to be in Church music ministry (Leviticus 10:1-3, Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them. So fire went out from the Lord and devoured them, and they died before the Lord. And Moses said to Aaron, "This is what the Lord spoke, saying: 'By those who come near Me I must be regarded as holy; And before all the people I must be glorified.' " So Aaron held his peace.). 3) Disapproved same sex marriage in Churches. 4) Inform them that same sex relationship is Sin. 5) When Christian private school do not allow the LGBTQ+ to wear uniform in accordance with their gender orientation. 6) When Christian owners of apartment do not allow two individuals in same sex relationship to rent in their apartment, due to sin of compromising (2 Corinthians 6:14 - Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?) 7) Do not allow Gay to use the female Comfort Room due to security threat to real female youths. Leviticus 18:22 (NKJV) “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.” Leviticus 20:13 (NKJV) “If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.” Matthew 19:4-6 (NKJV) “And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”” Romans 1:24-27 (NKJV) “Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.” 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NKJV) “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.”

9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10 NKJV) 7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. (Jude 1:7) 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23) 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) 19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord (Acts 3:19)

I have no problems with gays, lesbians, and bisexuals and I actually support granting them rights to legally marry, adopt, etc. But what I cannot stand is these trans people forcing me and everyone else to call them a man/woman when they clearly are not. I mean you have all the right in the world to self-identify as such, but forcing me to insult my own intelligence and common sense by calling you as something that you're obviously not is just not happening. I sometimes daydream and play-pretend about being an NBA superstar or a president, but I will never force anyone to recognize me as such because I know that those are just delusions that exist inside my own head. In reality, I'm just your regular Filipino pedestrian. Same logic goes for trans people.

transwomen are women tho and transmen are men, what are you talking about 💀 it’s been scientifically proven that transwomen are commonly born with a female brain even tho they’re assigned make at birth, same with transmen being born with a male brain.
