Nah the best outhouse I've been in had light switch located in the main house that lite the out-house and the trail , as well a switch that turned on a heater for those chilly late night dumps.

Ordered some beard oil, and I'm really enjoying it. My cats are loving the little burlap bag. He saw it setting to the side after I opened the box and he has been running around and chasing it for a couple days. Minions blend has two customer it seems.

Worm will work very well in there as well and all year round as well. 6 ft by six feet you got more than a decade. If you use te saw dust from your various projects by putting a scoop on top after your business it will never smell. The carbon in it react with poop and breaks I t down. I have had mine roughly the same size with a family of six for tw decades and still use it.

The really cool thing about soldier fly larva is they literally take the waste, consume and then disperse it when they die, they're not just digesting it, they take their weight in waste with them when they fly away.

So two things he mentioned in other videos is apparently solider flys dont like humans and will avoid them and there's also ventilation from the tank that sucks air down the toilet preventing stink and flys as well. I think he mentioned that the flys most likely would go out the ventilation shaft since airflow and avoiding people.

America being a homeland and not a fatherland we Americans like to try to stay in touch with our ancestors. Lots of people that live where he lives are of Irish and Scottish decent so hes prob got a scottsman for a great grandpa. Like my great great grandpa came to Florida from ireland during the potato famine and made a living farming oranges but we have our family crest and irish flags and stuff around the house

For those concerned about the plastic... A 5 gallon bucket from lowes, topped with the cheapest toilet seat from lowes, will easily support 360 pounds, with zero problems Just don't go shifting all over the place. LOL My only concern with it would be how would it hold up over time. Plastic gets brittle. The pit may hold up for two to twenty years, but I doubt the plastic toilet will last that long.

Should have a rainwater collector for flushing water and have a toilet with a trap door so no stinky when using.

That will last a lot more than 20 years. I know of an outhouse that 6+ people have been using for several years, and its the size of an old ~150gal fuel tank with a hole in the bottom. Ive found it helps to fill it with water periodically. Water plus larvae, i can see that lasting a lifetime

How do you manage the smell in an outhouse? I understand the room is probably well vented and there is probably a vent pipe/hole built into the pit but how do you stop it from escaping the from the toilet instead as the amount of poop increases?

This will last more this a decide up here in alaska I had one for my family of 7 and it was about 7 deep and 6 in diameter and it lasted us well over 6 years with about 2 feet on top to put soil and all we used was lye so it stands to reason you might have as much as 40 years also even after 6 years of biodegrading I was still able to hire someone to pump it out and we're still using the same one😂 ill never dig a hole again I just get it pumped every 2 years just put in the septic and we'll in last year so maybe it'll be the last time I do it depending on how good 2023 is to me😂
