That's not what happened. I've seen that one before. I believe what really happened is that the boy got swept away by the current before his dad could catch him, so his dad was calling 911 and had left to try and find some other way to get to him. And this is why the father wasn't home when the former officer brought the boy back home.

@gamester512 so are you saying there are two different videos of a boy being swept away? Bc I, too, saw the entire video and saw & others made comments, about the dad being drunk, all while the officers interrogated dad. I was also angry dad never faced charges.

The parachute one is just a skydiving student who cant find their pilot chute handle. The person who pulls the handle to deploy the parachute is their instructor. Thats exactly why the instructor is there. Its no big deal (except for the student, who just failed their AFF 2 or 3 jump). Happens every weekend at every drop zone.

@@tileux Once had my HAHO turned into a HALO in the 3rd worst way possible when my jump oxygen equipment had a malfunction. Not the time or place you want to pass out. Thankfully I regained consciousness at an altitude certainly below advisable and broke my legs/feet up pretty bad and fucked my joints when I deployed my chute manually. I refuse to jump on a static line. Those abominations don't like me and every time I'm forced to use one something goes wrong. I've even done the drunken superman when I didn't detach from one of those fuckers once. Manual deploy all the way. I do not wish to burn in like a burrito or have "Gory Gory what a hell of a way to die" be my funeral song. Even if it's fun to sing with all the nervous firsties.

I met heroes today! I'm always such a wreck when in any medical facility (mental health related; it sucks) and I had to go to the ER. Literally EVERYONE I came across went out of their way to help me and the ultrasound tech talked me through the entire procedure. When I asked questions, she answered, no matter how silly the question was. Before that, she talked about literally any-and-everything in a calm and even playful at times manner. She apologized every time I cringed in pain and even made sure to get not just me a couple warm blankets, but got them for my sister, too, who came with me. That's someone I'll never forget. There was an older male patient, too, and when he saw my sister struggling to get me through a doorway (I was in a wheelchair), he jumped up and asked if he could hold the door for us. It didn't matter that he was sick and in pain, too. He just wanted to help. Sometimes, humanity is entirely worth life. Edited for a typo.

I’ve seen the video of the boy who was found in the river with the life jacket twice now and wish there was more footage of presumably the dad because I need context on that response of his. Currently it frustrates me. He says thank you then lightheartedly says they might be seeing each other again. First off, why? And secondly, why is he so nonchalant about this ordeal? It just feels like he doesn’t care. I would be pissed. It’d be like finding a kid on the side of the highway and taking him all the way to his house only for the dad to open the door casually and he like “OHHHH I KNEW I was forgetting something. Heh. Thanks, dawg.”

SAME! How is that river not inundated with boats looking for him?! And a kayaker finds him?! That's not someone who's in any rush. You enjoy your time out there. Nice and relaxing, just checking out the serenity. Not all of a sudden come across a little kid floating around with NOT ONE OTHER PERSON around looking for him! 🤬 Editing because I rewatched that clip and totally missed the fact that the kayaker was a former policeman. For people saying the rope should have been thrown BEFORE the woman jumped, read this: The current was strong enough to push her further away, meaning if the rope was thrown BEFORE her the rope would go back to the shore and she would definitely miss it because of time. If they toss it before her then she jump she will miss the cord because the cord had been pushed away. If she jump and then they throw the cord in her direction it's more likely to end up in her hands. Tossing it to her when she was still standing doesn't work because gravity. The rope is floppy, the end of it won't reach her, it will curve (if it's the right word) and fall in the water before she can grab it. If she jumps and then they throw the rope the rope will inevitably go in HER direction.

@2:39 why make up a BS story? Now I can't believe anything you say. This lad was left in the middle by his dad and was not warried away from the shore. Even when he was returned, his dad was upset because he left his son to find his own way back as a lesson on being tough.

Don't get me wrong, these are great acts by great people. I just feel that it is a bit sad that these are the exceptions now days. The exceptions should be those who don't help the next man. I hope videos like these make other people to take that step and not only mind their business, but others who might need help but don't ask for it.

3:35 is a sign. Malignant or not, you don't say that to an oficer. I say that to the 7/11 employee when I get some pizza and plan to get more after doing DoorDash
