Some things are different, but the fact that we are still so close to each other (for example TV shows such as The idol aren´t separated into 2 TV shows but we have The idol - Czecho-Slovakia), makes it really easy to continue the line of everyone understanding each other as if there was no barrier :) You can compare it to let´s say British and American English and it´s always been that way (nowadays Czech children might find it a bit more difficult to fully understand Slovak because they don´t watch as many TV programmes in Slovak as Slovak children do in Czech)
@miso3685

There are mistakes. All Czech words are formally but on the other side, in Slovak informally. Ano is correct áno in Slovak, if we can use Slovak word hej like áno, then on the czech side we must use jo like ano. Chci is Chcem and not Prosím. Bad translate, because there are more ways, how you can say the same sentence.
@standooostandooo9195

Lot of czech words are simply obscure synonyms or archaisms in slovak or are close enough to them. So even though translation to official language can be different people can still understand.

Slivo áno je prebratý švejkizmus.
"Hej" is not a word for yes in Slovakian. It is pure slang used mainly in northern regions. Official word is "áno" similar to the Czech one. In Slovakian, you can also say "mám hlad/smäd" and it has the same meaning as "som hladný/smädný." In Czech, "prosím si zmrzlinu" is also correct, it's a little bit more polite form, just like in English I'd like an ice cream or I want an ice cream. Seems to me that you're trying to find differences even there, where they aren't. Even the last one is a pure slang, depending on the region, you can use plenty of words like "vole, krávo, cype, kurde, pyčo, brďo, koky, kokso, vaďo..." instead.
