How Creativity Can Transform Lives | Anisa Kissoon | TEDxBethnal Green Road

Creativity has the extraordinary capacity to profoundly impact lives by fostering connection, empowerment, and transformation. Anisa's inspiring journey illustrates this beautifully, showcasing the boundless potential of creativity to address pressing global challenges and work towards positive change.
Initially tasked with creating a safe space for young girls, Anisa drew inspiration from a theater company using the arts to aid women escaping domestic violence. This experience ignited her passion for harnessing the arts to tackle broader societal issues. By empowering troubled teens to channel their creativity, Anisa demonstrated how the arts can serve as a powerful tool for healing, expression, and social change.
Through her thought-provoking TEDx talk, Anisa transcends preconceived racial prejudices and injustices, revealing the universal language of human connection found in creative expression. She illustrates how embracing our creative potential can transcend barriers, unite communities, and drive meaningful change for all. Anisa argues that creative change is a global issue and serves as a compelling testament to the limitless possibilities inherent in the human spirit. Anisa Kissoon is a woman of many hats, or as she puts it, "hijabs." With almost 30 years of experience serving humanity at the grassroots and leadership levels, she has made significant contributions to society. She is a presenter, author, director, humanitarian, health and well-being lecturer, and coach, among other things.
Anisa is the founder of Creative Change, a revolutionary company that has been featured on many media platforms. Creative Change specialises in using creativity to educate, inspire, empower, and heal. The 1st ever ‘Great Muslim Panto’, her smash-hit, was written and directed by Anisa and her family. The play was featured on the BBC, Times newspaper, and other mainstream media outlets worldwide. She was awarded the 'Women Empowerment Champion' title in 2023, as well as the best youth service award in the UK. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
