Yes, China raises chicken free range in the countryside, not locked up like in West. Growing up as toddler, we had many chickens running around our courtyards and tea plantation. They go out and play and get mixed up with our neighbours but they are smart enough to return to our cages at night. Every family had a few chicken because back then we were very poor and so those chicken provided rare occasions of protein to our largely vegetarian diet. Brings back good memories of us toddlers catching big giant grasshoppers and dragonflies to feed to our chickens.
