How Brain-based Education Can Change the World | Tammy-Anne Caldwell | TEDxKinjarling

After years of practical usage, Tammy-Anne Caldwell formalised her practices of combining an understanding of how the brain works with the ways in which we teach. She goes by the professional nickname of the 'Mind-Brain Lady' and is on a mission to help educators, parents and children better engage in the learning process According to the statistics, she should have failed school and be unemployed, but instead she is a social entrepreneur, a business owner, a teacher, consultant & motivational presenter, and a social-emotional trainer & co-author.
After her first job as an educator at age 19, she became a qualified teacher, a decade ago and has taught at schools, homes, organisations and universities across Australia & New Zealand. She was a 2020 semi-finalist in the Western Australian Regional Achievement/Curtin Teaching Excellence Awards, and received Government funding to share her brain-based workshops at regional schools. She was the only Australian to receive one of 28 grants from the International Brain Research Organisation in Paris, in 2021 - and a second grant in 2022. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Your talk is so inspiring! If only all of our children could have access to this type of work - the world would be an entirely different place xx

Tammy's energy and passion for teaching is inspirational. What an exceptional talk! We need more reformers like this in our rigid "education" system.

1:30 - Oh snap! Clearly, the Darwinian view of evolution, that we teach our children is fact via the public education system, makes no sense! 🤯

Choice and PURPOSE? And if we assume a purely naturalistic worldview... What is the "purpose" of human existence-or the existence of anything for that matter? 🤔🤫😱
