@@simplord3589 okay here’s a way to survive a tsunami 1:first gather food leashes if you have pets now you wanna get a full rubber suit trust me this comes in handy. gather your animals and loved ones and get into a car. 2:Drive to a hiking mountain. Safe for kids or pets. 3:if you don’t have any hiking mountains hurry and drive to the highest building. 4:as soon as you are in the building this is when the rubber suits come in handy hurry up and change. 5: climb to the top and grab on to a bar or something just in case. 6: as soon as the tsunami comes brace yourself because you don’t know if the building is gonna tip over or if the tsunami is too high. 7: if you do get swept away this is where the rubber suits come in handy because if the electrical pole hits the water everything will be zapped and everyone in the water would most likely die but that is why we have rubber on it should be able to save your life just make sure your pets are ur first priority and if I have a fish..... they’ll be fine they can breath underwater lol. 8:swim to a boat or anything like that follow these steps and you will have a better chance at surviving have a great day :) oof and I forgot one more rule. 9: DONT DIEEEE Hehhehe I’m so smart lol ( oh and btw the water only zaps u for a few seconds)

Whenever I hear about a giant tsunami hitting the coast somewhere I always picture a tall, monolithic wall of water; but when you actually look at the footage of the Indian Ocean tsunami it looks like a tumbling mass of water like giant river rapids or breakers crashing into the shore. Brandon Hall Yes, exactly. A Tsunami is commonly misinterpreted visually. It is much easier to picture a simple wave than picturing lumps and lumps of water running over anything in its path. So yeah in most cases a tsunami is not in a shape of a "wave" more like a big lump.

Depends. If you look at the videos of the Indonesian one, there were boats which filmed how the sea simply bulged a lot up and down in deep areas close to where the crust fracture happened. There are many videos of Japanese boats filming their tsunamis doing that too far away from the coast. Now... once the water starts to get close to shore, the mass is too huge to continue with the same shape and then it starts to roll with the friction of the ground, turning more into the typical 'surfing' waves. But simply by physics and fluid dynamics, there is no way that you will have a single giant Hawaii-5-0 kind of wave like the drawing in the video. It will be a huge advancing mass of water, _maybe_ with huge waves on the top portions of the water mass, like the huge waves that have been filmed in those crazy north sea storms near Ireland. It would be like having the waves of a storm riding on top of a giant bulge of water that moves all at once.

Most tsunami are a chain of waves, not just one. example: a 60 foot one, then a 100 foot one, then 60 foot, then 40 foot. You get hammered by a series of waves, not just one like it is often shown.

Guys in Norway there's an unstable mountain called Akerneset and will one day slide into the fjord causing a flood wave about 80-100 meters tall, there's also a number of towns around the fjord like Hellesylt and Geiranger which will be receiving waves about 84 and 70 meters high. Everyday I go to this live camera on Geiranger because that landslide can happen at ANY time. There's also a Norwegian movie about it called The Wave it's on Netflix, it's pretty sad.

In Lituya Bay, it was not a wave that was 1722 feet. It was a surge of water that went up the hillsides that reached that length. The wave itself was about 40 feet high and carried boats over top of trees
