HOW BADLY DAMAGED IS THE CHEAPEST AUDI RS5

I bought my girlfriend the cheapest Audi RS5 that i could find, but now its time to find out how badly damaged it actually is. The Audi 2012 Rs5 is categorised as a CAT S which means it has some form of structural damage. Ive never attempted to repair a chassis before but theres a first time for everything. The problem is some of the jobs i thought would be straight forward turn out to be alot harder than first anticipated.

The passenger headlight you got is a non-bending headlight. The missing ballast is a driver unit responsible for left-right movement of the projector. Gotta search for a bending passenger headlight :)

That black thing on top of headlight, is a dynamic light controller. It's the thing that turns your headlights in the direction you're steering. RS5/S5 has it as standard, and A5 doesn't. But it's good to see it still works!

I’m jumping around a bit at the moment, Mat. I’m up to date with the RS6 build and I’ve watched the S3 build and the Golf R build too. As you can tell, I’m a fan of VAG’s (I have a Golf) and I’m blown away with what you’re willing throw yourself into - and the builds have ended up absolutely crazy. I feel too old for the cars that you’ve built, but your channel is such great fun to watch that I want to see them through to the end. I think I’ll have a look at some other non-VAG’s too at some point, once I’m through this RS5 build. Anyway, keep up the great work, and fingers crossed that you reach 2 million subscribers very soon. You deserve to get there and much more! All the best to you and everyone involved.

Amazing car Mat, i think this car has Semi-Dynamic Turn Signal Cables on the rear lights. You have to check it out on Google Semi / or Dynamic turn signal cable. It's like a short little cable with a small box attached in the middle that gives a small Electric signal to make them blink like that. You can check it out if you remove the rear lights There is some kind of cable attached to the rear light that you have to disconnect. And then they should be back normal how it should have to blink. Good luck with the build.

Enjoying this content Matt!. With the Audi adaptive headlight fault. The reason being you are missing a ballast on your new passenger headlight is because that headlight is not a AFS one. The AFS headlights on the rs5 is adaptive as you know but not for leveling, but for cornering 👍. Keep up the good content mate.

The headlights on you’re rs have adaptive headlights. The headlight that you bought is just self levelling, so it goes up & down but non left right. You might be able to use the old parts and retrofit them inside the new housing, but you will need to have experience opening this type of headlight. I suggest you sell it and buy the right one later on.

  • @Henny2210

Also, the self levelling uses two sensors, one on the rear passenger side suspention, and the other attached to the front passenger side suspension... just about where yours is bent and has 4 broken wires... try just quickly connecting the broken wires back up and see if it clears the levelling issue... :)
