    If @deathdealers comment about him doing a 2M engineer run were true, he would have a video on it ... @casualsab has actual proof of at least 4 players doing over 2M DPS ... I'm def not a fan of dps chasing, but it seems to me that @deathdealers only dps record is him just running his mouth about something he can't accomplish in game ...

    Thanks for doing this video. One of the hardest things, when teaching new players, is that the chart topping DPS records were not just because of 1 person, and their build. So many content creators make videos, bragging about how much DPS their build does, but not telling their viewers that it wasn't possible without an organized team. Over the years (I have had to take breaks from the game due to health issues), I have taught a lot of players how to do different types of builds. But the worst thing to do is try to explain to someone that spent hundreds of real life money on the game, that even though they copied the build they saw, they are not getting those numbers without a proper team. Your honesty, and willingness to clearly explain how each role works to make those numbers happen, is going to help a LOT in teaching fellow players. I will be sharing the link to your video a lot. Because of health issues, I have had to take breaks from the game for years at a time. And since I am disabled, and have no income, I can't afford to buy a lot of the stuff needed to keep up with min/max builds. In the past, I was able to just by spending 48+ hours in the game grinding from my medical bed. But when my health started getting worse, it became harder to keep up with the min/max community. This also made it harder to do what you did here, and share different builds that explain how each role works. You video will be a big teaching tool. A few years ago, I started focusing on doing true budget builds, so that new players would have a platform to begin working towards their full, endgame builds. After being gone for a few years, I have had to take time to relearn some of the changes in the game, while I was gone. But I always loved teaching others. And this game has allowed me to do that over the years. But there is an area where I have lately been falling a bit behind in. I was wondering if you would,please, be able to help. If you have the time, and are willing to, would you please do a video that shows how to do true budget builds for tanking, and support? True budget builds are ones that don't use event ships, weapons, or gear, because those are only reasonably available if you were able to do the event(s). Also, they don't use C-Store, Lobi, or Lockbox ships and consoles. Crafting, rep, fleet, and episode rewards are the only things used in a true budget build. If you could make a video on these things, it would really help a lot of new players, that don't spend real life money on the game, to start with a decent, affordable, platform to start with. I have horrible internet where I live, so it is really hard for me to work on things like this. I will even be willing to help if you would like. Sincerely, Razar.

    I agree with "Phil's" comment, 'the (time) investment is not not worth it.' I'm at best at the 50K DPS on just one of my toons. I don't have all the consoles that was mentioned and the EC prices on the exchange is just ridiculous.

    First part of this video is why I pay zero attention to the ISE parts of Build Videos, as that is what the build does in a dedicated team. I wish they would do like "Wanted" solo on elite of something, as it is a better representation of their build. Thanks for making this btw.

    This is a really interesting video, came up in my recommendations, I’ve been trying to get my DPS higher for sometime now. Through watching some really good build videos and with a little help from friends online my Prometheus phaser build hits somewhere between 70K and 80K DPS. I still consider my build incomplete. One thing you mentioned in this video that I’d like some clarification on, you mentioned timing on clickies? Is there a preferred order that you activate abilities in? Do you activate all abilities at once or only certain abilities at a time?

  • @CasualSAB

    @CasualSAB

    Жыл бұрын

    Many abilities need to be used at certain points in a run or only under certain situations to get the most value out of them. For example, lets say you have the Agony Redistributor (AR) console on. The AR console is marked on a target, and will deal a portion of the damage you do to hat target to up to 10 nearby foes within 5km. So knowing what targets are good to hit that on will allow for much more dps potential from it in a run vs someone who runs it on their spam bar. It's basically figuring out what conditions each ability is best under, and waiting for those conditions to maximize the impact of that ability. Many people either don't hit their abilities at all, or just spam bar everything. Both of which can result in poor ability usage.

    The term "excessive" comes to mind. Honestly, as a veteran of STO since day one, I do not understand the DPS record-breaking meta. So much time, effort, and in many cases ridiculous amounts of money is put into it that it can't be worth it. You can complete elite difficulty content with free ships and free builds, but people continue to find the best possible build despite the game not increasing in difficulty as the builds get better.

  • @CasualSAB

    @CasualSAB

    2 жыл бұрын

    It's a result of STO having no long term endgame. Once you complete reps, what is there really to do? People that chase DPS have a goal number in mind, compete vs other players, or just want to see how certain builds/ships do. It creates an endgame that attracts part of the playerbase.

    DPS chasing is just another end-game goal. I have many, one is levelling toons that cover every faction species in the game, another is DPS with an aim of getting to 160k, and as someone that pugs, I've got to 127k ISA and 130k ISE. Once I hit 160k, I'll look to get 200k, and look to more like Hive. If I don't feel like going for those goals, I have plenty of others to do on any of my 56 toons!

    @@johnn8373 First of all, learn sentence structure and punctuation. Secondly, PvP will never be a focus of STO for obvious reasons, and there are about ten people who take it seriously in this game's playerbase. Lastly, we don't like PvP because this game is ridiculously, hilariously unbalanced. Getting killed in one nanosecond because someone is running a $1000 build on a gambling ship with the best consoles, doffs, and traits with a keybind tool that lets them do everything faster than you can blink, that is not fun, it's just pointless.

    FAW just allows for spreading debuffs to as many targets as possible around you. CSV would work if the enemies were only in front of you, but the issue then is that CSV will be doing quite a bit more damage to the foes. The supporting team generally doesn't want to be doing a ton of damage, so we've opted to go with the mk ii beams + faw route.

    I'd say to post your build up on the Builds Discord (discord.gg/stobuilds) just to double check things. But it's largely going to be down to your piloting and what type of team you have in the run. Beam overload is a bit more difficult in ISE because of it being single target. So you need to have a team that can clear the small targets while you focus entirely on the large ones.

Shame really, new players haven't a chance of enjoying what's left of this once fun game now and wont stick around for more than a week or two before they catch on that they'll need to spend hundreds of real pounds/dollars/whatever just to buy a ship/traits with which they could keep up even if they magically learned how to play that build before the new meta comes out...
