How a NASCAR Xfinity Series Crew Chief Blows Off Steam

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Episode 22: JR Motorsports NASCAR Xfinity Series Crew Chief, Taylor Moyer, joins Steady at the Wheel to talk about his passion for agriculture, particularly cattle production .
Taylor's farm is where he can retreat to to unwind from the intensity of NASCAR racing. His farming philosophy focuses on methods to protect and enrich his land and soil. He talks about rotational grazing, bale grazing, and annual crop planting as tools he uses to maximize his land's potential.
The episode ends with an interesting tidbit about one of the techniques Jaxon recommends when driving a semi in high winds. Taylor's focus on aerodynamics in racing answers the question of why two semi truck driving next to each other reduces wind effects driving down the road.

I don't haul cattle. I don't own a ranch. I don't fix teeth. But I LOVE this podcast. Thanks fellas for putting in the work to entertain this ole fella as I drag a dry van around the country!

The Bitterroot Valley and Missoula are where I identify with most in Montana. We did the majority of our shopping in Missoula, and there was an awesome pet store in Hamilton where we bought the majority of our exotic pet foods for our rescues. I bought my first teacup poodle in Hamilton from a really nice woman that worked at the Cenex station. It makes me quite sad that the current owners of the beautiful, historic Chief Joseph Ranch chose to lease the ranch to a Hollyweird film company to film Yellowstone. I don’t know how many times I’ve had to tell people that the show Yellowstone is not filmed right next to Yellowstone National Park but approximately 270 miles away! I have watched some Texans I know bale feed and it is such a huge waste!! They end up burning about half the bale, and end up with blank spots all over their pastures. We always fed square bales and loaded the hay wagon in the morning and went out and fed, then did it again in the late afternoon. Never any waste. To us farmers are the individuals who raise crops for human consumption, hops for Budweiser and Corona to make beer, etc., ranchers are large scale producers who raise animals for mass consumption. Anything less is a homesteader, hobby farmer, nursery, or “gentleman rancher.”! 🤣 After my father-in-law passed away his wife and her son converted from cattle to goats and made far for money taking the goats to California to sell. BUT, goats are a pain int the butt and you have to have some really good guard dogs such as great Pyrenees to help guard and contain them. Ma and Joe cut losses to predators way down once they put llamas in the pastures with the goats. It’s fun and interesting to listen to Taylortalk about his ranching. A lot of people have the misconception that all NASCAR people do is NASCAR! Thank you for another great podcast! ❤️🙏

I like your definitions of people in agricultural pursuits. Bale Grazing...it is an at that has to be practiced to be successful. The "waste" is a desirable part of bale grazing. It is a fine line between to much waste that leaves dead spot vs. just enough waste to create health lush growth.
