Good thing it was invented in Italy, by Italians. If someone else had done it they'd have thrown a temper tantrum like they do everytime someone else improves on Italian cuisine.

Italian "cuisine", and I use the term loosely, is trash. It's all the same. Some kind of heavy bread carb. Some sauce. Some protein. Doesn't matter what you call it: spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo, fra diavolo, pizza, ravioli...
