HOUSE TOUR | A Former Dallas Church Transforms into a Beautiful Home

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In 2014 self-made entrepreneur Suzy Batiz bought a century-old church in Dallas’s historic Junius Heights and over the course of many years of intense renovation the structure has been brought back to life.
Suzy is the founder of many companies but most notably, Poo-Pourri, the multi-million dollar toilet-spray company. While she is now wildly successful, life wasn't always easy for her. Suzy endured some of life’s lowest lows - poverty, abuse, depression, two bankruptcies and a suicide attempt - but Suzy has prevailed and has gone on to build an empire valued at more than $500 million dollars.
Enjoy this inspirational tour!

She put idols in the house of the lord and you think your mother who served the church would be proud of it? You have scales on your eyes ma'am. Allow me to remove them. There is only one way, the way of the Lord Jesus. This is a tragedy that even a cursory glance of the Bible would reveal.

  • @homejournalist

@@person6768 She didn't say her mother would be proud of the house, she said that she, personally, liked what was done to save it -- architecturally, I'd assume. Also, I'd agree with your "house of the Lord" position if it was still being used as one. However, the building hasn't been used as a church/place of worship for many years and the Lord's people have taken their prayers elsewhere. It's Ms. Batiz's home now (one with a rich, blessed, history) and she can do what she likes with it. Remember, a building is just a building unless the Lord's people are gathered there

I wish I was your friend. I love your home. I’m glad you did that. In England because of the higher Muslim populations they have been buying them and turning it to mosques. In one way I see they saved these old churches and they did repair work, but the pews are removed and the alter is removed. If it is Catholic they bring down all the statutes and paint over Christian paintings in the ceilings.

You are correct in discarding her comments. Negativity is in the heart of the beholder. I agree with you the items in your home exude no negativity in my opinion. So it sounds like it's more of a personal struggle for that particular individual. Your home is gorgeous. And I also thought often of converting a church into a home. I love your story. I work in an old church very similar to your home. It's a private Christian school. I love it! It is an amazing structure. I've been thinking about selling my home but it's so beautiful and you're right when you say you must have a passion for old homes. The thing is... I cannot afford to renovate it right now. I connected with your story on so many levels, especially spiritually. Thank you so very much for sharing your story.... For with God nothing is impossible. Special note* When decided to write this comment I noticed that you had already received 528 of them. My birthday is May 28th! Another special note.... I am a poster child for your product. Hi. I love, love, love your home. I too felt relaxed as I was watching you. I loved hearing of your 3 rules. I’m a widow of 7 years. I live in our family home alone built by my late husband. I too have spoken to my spiritual beings in my home, especially after the passing of my husband. I feel there presence. Faith is all we need. Relax you’re in good surroundings.

She did an amazing job at restoring and conserving the church. It is an absolutely gorgeous and welcoming home which is not easy to do given the size of the place. She is so creative, unique, kind, respectful, warm, fun, authentic, generous, positive and a well balanced human being. I think she deserves everything she has. I would love to get to know her and roller skate in her living room. 😊

First of all, I love Poo-Pourri and was just looking on the website before clicking on this video. I kid you not!!! I've been buying it for over 10 years and even give it as gifts. It is the best!!! What a very unique home. It has been done really, really well. It's gorgeous. With all of the expensive things she mentioned, I can't even imagine how much the total renovation cost. Clearly she can afford it and enjoys it very much. What a dream come true to be able to design exactly what you want. Wow!

I know exactly how you felt when you walked into your church. I live in a 1864 school house, we toured the house on a Saturday afternoon put an offer in the same day. I told my husband and realtor we had to offer with no conditions. They both thought I should have condition of sale of our home in town but I knew we couldn’t have any conditions. If I had 2 houses I would rent the one in town out if it didn’t sell. I just knew in my gut I was meant to live in this school house. The floor still have the marks where the desks were screwed down, children’s initials are still in the bricks on the outside.

Thank you for repairing and enjoying this old lady Church! I share the experience of entering homes and feeling the spaces resonate throughout my body, and knowing instantaneously that I've found my home for that time (even with no money). What follows: working out a deal, easy and fast sales processes, paying the right price, coming out from behind a pack of previous offers -- it's always always right. The body knows. Also, Poo Pourii is a fantastic product -- thank you.
