Houdini Quickie: Orient Normals Easily with a Transform
Фильм және анимация
This is a super quick one! Did you know you can orient Normals, or other attributes, with a Transform SOP? Well, I never thought about it either! Here's how to get a little more art direction using Normals.
Update: It has been brought to my attention that the this was just covered on the CGWiki Channel a couple days back, but with velocity. I hadn’t come across this video, but want to give a shout-out since they are such similar videos. Check out those addition transform quick tips here: • Houdini 30s Quick Tip ...

I'm glad you like it!
NOICE !
Pretty cool little trick. Although it would be much easier to see what your node settings are if you select the nodes rather then just flagging them.....just saying. Also, you wouldn't know how to get the normals on a line/curve so each end point normal is pointing out away from the line parallel to it? I want to attach an object to each end of a line using the point normals to orientate them parallel to the line/curve. I stumbled on this researching it....amazing what you find when you go looking 😁
My C4D looks different
