Gash there is so many electric motor manufactures these days. They should standarize some things like: - One charger plug: like its is with usb-c in electronics - One Open BMS (battery management systems) for easy battery replacements or cell swaps. - Two/Three standardized motor mounts: for full power motors, for SL ones and others. At least "one plug" and open bms should be mandatory for all e-bike stuff producers!

Motor mounts for sure it just reminds me of the early disk brake mounts. an A/B/C layout or a fudge of a swappable mount carrier. I think we might see it once today's motors crease production and start to die on otherwise working bikes. People demand replacement path, companies will start to see the value of an agreed upon standard.

Kudos to you for being the first UK-based KZread channel to report from Eurobike 2023. It's nice to see a British company, namely, Intradrive, trying to break into the market of combined motor & gearbox but I fear that their struggle to become established and eventually successful is going to be a much harder one now that we are out of the European Union and the single market but I wish them loads of luck.

Pinion MGU for me too! It seems to be miles ahead its competition in basically all aspects including weight, size, power and gear ratio (big fan of the belt drive system - Gamux Factory team is using it on the DH world cups and seems to be performing well so I'm excited for the future of biking) Brose takes second place - not as great as Pinion on paper but still might be a great product. Intradrive seems to be in an early stage of development but a big fan of their work and hope to see their more refined products in the future. Okawa products look great too but we haven't got too much info about them to be fair..

I think revonte (and others smaller companies like intradrive) can't offer proper/competitive price or don't have sufficient processing capacity to make it to the mass production. There is an inherent problem with comparing torque numbers between internally gear boxed motors vs, a non-gearbox motor. Also... there **really** needs to be a standard mid-drive/gearbox mounting bold pattern so you can use manufacturer A's mid drive or gearbox in Manufacturer B's frame.

the latest and greatest? there is only one answer to this for 2024: The Pinion E1.12 gearbox! Bulls VUCA EVO AM 1 releasing in april 2024 for 7000 € (!) is the first of its kind with gearbox, beltdrive, autoshift combined in a ebike. (besides "Simplon" who hopped on the ionnovation hypetrain and also released a bike like this: Simplon RAPCON PMAX PINION - but Simplon gone too far with the greed. they charge 10k for their bike which i will NEVER pay for any kind of bicycle.) i really hope this system will find its way into the enduro / light ebike frames because i dislike those huge down tubes on ebikes a lot. i dont need & dont want such a huge battery, as simple as that. on a ebike i would accept not more then 23kg. sadly, the Bulls VUCA EVO AM 1 weight is 25kg maybe propain can deliver us a affordable Pinion E1.12 gearbox bike. Their frames are very slick and lightweight. But i heavily doubt that it would be affordable... Propain has always been on the 8-10k range for new bikes beltdrive gearboxes are the future on ebikes, you can remember those words. my DREAM bike looks like this: 20-23kg, ebike, gearbox, 12 speed, autoshift, beltdrive, diamond design full carbon frame, full suspension 140+ front 150+ rear and a maximum pricetag of 7k € i dont care about stock components because i will swap all parts except the suspension, fork & frame anyways on a new bike because they rarely come with good parts at that pricetag. glad i already own lots of high quality bike components, that will dampen the financial hit if i buy a bike for 7k. and i can always sell the stock components from a new bike. Too bad you cant buy the RAPCON PMAX PINION frame only... :( i would love to buy the frame only with the pinion gearbox. summary: at the moment, the Pinion E1.12 gearbox bikes are just TOO HEAVY for my liking. Ill wait and see what 2024 will bring. If i encounter a 20-23kg bike with this tech, im definately in to buy one. If anybody knows a bike that has this tech, message me!

Quite surprised at your skepticism of the pinion motor gearbox and its tech compared to your unbounded positivity of the clunky kit from the uk in a flight case. Pinion are ex Porsche gearbox experts and their product will see off any alpine ride as there's nothing to bend break or go out of adjustment. Anyhow I expect the pinion unit and the 3 brands using it, will drive the other main motor brands to do the same. It's the future of ebikes, all the benefits (seamless pedal free gear change auto if you want it) and none of the drawbacks (deralier chain sprockets wear and maintenance).
