Pinion MGU!

I started riding an ebike around October last year and both embn/gmbn have been invaluable to me as a new rider. I've smashed out nearly 2500 miles, lost 3 stone in weight and learnt a few lessons the hard way out and about on the trails. You're helping me become a better rider and your insight into maintenance and repair has been great. I love all these future tech videos and I just want to say thanks for all the great work, you're a credit to the community. Cheers! :)

So anti pinion… why?

Hey ebike motor producers and ebike manufactures in general! Please unify some things like: - One charger plug for all motors: like its is with usb-c in electronics - Open BMS (battery management systems) for easy battery replacements or cell swaps. Ebikes should be sustainable right? So please give us an option to repair batteries when these are out of production or are not available in some regions. - Two/Three standardized motor mounts: for full power motors, for SL ones and others. At least "one plug" and open bms should be mandatory for all e-bike stuff producers!

Is it me ? Or after watching the last two episodes EMBN seems very anti pinion !! Pinion have a system that’s potentially a game changer and it feels like the response is “blah 🤷‍♂️ not interested “ Is it because they don’t want to upset bosch or shimano ??

Well... kind of. Shimano's auto shift is great but Pinion doing the same thing is "meh". Or maybe we're wrong...

Shimano/SRAM have managed to keep Pinion from raping their markets for a while now through the less efficient gearbox drag….naturally a motor is going to negate that…something the media fed by the big $’s don’t want to happen…

We covered it in more detail at the end of our Day 1 recap, so we aren't ignoring it! We're hoping to get to test some bikes with it on very soon to get a proper idea of the system, how it operates, and what it's like in the real world. There are a lot of interesting combined gearbox/motor units coming onto the market, so it's exciting to see how things will progress in this area.

i'm happy to see there are more belt driven bikes

BiXS... The brand that has one the Megavalanche in 21 & 22 with Stefan Peter onboard a BiXS Lane ;)

I'm loving that new KTM and the colour sets it off it, reminds me of the Trek Supercaliber in design, but the price is even out of my price range, especially when I can get a KTM Duke for half the price, I can't understand why ebikes are so expensive. And yes I have 2 eBikes and to be honest there's maybe only 2 bikes I'd have over my Mondy in the two days you've shown, but it is nice to see what's available. Thanks Steve, Adam and crew.

Belt, no derailleur, no casette makes SO MUCH sense on the eMTB. It's a true "duh moment". 10mins. vids won't cut it guys. We need 5x that😊

Those M1 bikes are absolute eye candy. I wouldn't dare to afford me one of their boutique bike line, but I bet riding one would feel like piloting an F35🤘

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - they do not appeal to me at all and I find them ugly. This is good, would hate it if we all liked the same aesthetics

@@quitemountainous2528 Truthfully so! I often turn away from fanciful color schemes with aggressive mixtures from all over the palette. All while my friends fancy them the most 😆😆😆

Stevie...love all the new Tech! My eBike does not have a UDH set up so it precludes me from getting it...but I just need a sharp Carbon House to modify my Rear Triangle to get UDH....I have 1 55mm Chain line so it's all I need! Just got to find a Carbon House with the skills to get me going on UDH!!

@@quitemountainous2528 Well I definitely don't NEED it....but just like the SRAM XX1 wireless Shifting and Wireless Reverb Dropper I already use ...I want it! How about just being a happier rider??? I raced XC plenty in the 80's and 90's when Mt Biking was just getting started and raced a totally RIGID bike....I sure as hell do not need to be lectured by you for what I want!!!

Love your videos guys, but what I don’t understand is 5 seconds of Zaney. A brand new bike from Greyp company with a complete new look and Fazua motor. Seems to me if it doesn’t have Bosch motor, it does not deserve more than a minute…cheers!

anyone know what is up with the suspension on that ktm bike? looks like the upper stay must have some sort of sliding lateral support rather than a linkage?

That bike was fitted with the Classified Powershift. It's an internally geared hub, so in conjunction with a regular cassette and derailleur it allows you to make some bigger jumps in gearing if the trail requires. It also greatly increases the overall gear range too.

Why are u so biased against featuring the integrated motors and gears or even bikes with IGH? Even when u did the Bulls bikes u hardly said anything about the model with the Pinion MGU. N u haven't done anything on the other brands such as Valeo or OLI, etc. Is it because they are such a threat to Shimano and Bosch which u love so much?

We covered Pinion's MGU system more at the end of our Day 1 recap 👍We also covered a couple of others in that same video. We're looking forward to testing out some of these bikes in the real world to see how things match up - there are a lot of interesting developments in that area, so we're keen to see where it all goes.

Revival it? What the fcuks that? Is that like when you revive something and make it better than some other brand?

Boring. Gone all the way to the biggest bike show on earth and all you two seem to be talking about is Bosch SX motor. Not one of your best videos.

We had a section at the end of yesterday's video specifically about the MGU 👍 We're waiting to get out on the trails with it to give a proper verdict on it.
