Hotpoint & Indesit Tumble Dryer Taking a Long Time to Dry? Maintenance Guide Reduces Energy Costs!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Tumble dryer maintenance is a very important factor to prevent fires, If your tumble dryer is taking a long time to dry, you may either have a blockage in the airflow or the heating element may not be working correctly causing the dryer to take ages to dry. A lot of people do not realise that tumble dryer elements have a high and low setting. This means that there are two coils on the element, normally 1000 W for each coil. This would be drawing about 9 amp when running on full heat, but only 5 amp went on low heat if your dryer is only on half heat, it will take many more hours to dry. If the filters are not fitted correctly or there is a restriction in the airflow, this can cause the ducting system to block up, therefore reducing the airflow going through the dyer. This video will show you how to do the maintenance, and also prevent your tumble dryer, from becoming a fire hazard and save you a lot of money on your energy bills.

Another great vid, that made me get out my wireless endoscope inspection camera, to look down past the filter in the dryer to see i need to take apart and clean. And yes it it will be done this weekend - so many thanks !! This is the 3rd or 4th time, one of your vids helped me. I replaced a 40p capacitor on mothers machine, I replaced my aunts leaky hose. They both was thinking of buy new machines or at least paying to get a plumber in. And I also replaced a pump on my own washing machine.. So Many thanks for all the great content you've done and do !!

I'm glad your endoscope spotted the stuff that gets in the dryer, people don't realise the hidden problems that can occur and the manufacturers never publish it. people service and maintain their cars, but they never think of the tumble dryer, they sleep with it on at night not knowing the potential hazards of the dryer when it has not been well maintained properly. Now that the financial crisis is getting hold and energy prices are going up, they might start to do a bit of maintenance. glad we could help you @coxyofnewp this is for you kzread.infoe432SAb2g08 please remember to subscribe as that's what keeps this channel going. I really get humbled by some comments that people leave. I only try to make repair videos in the way that general public will not only understand but they might get infused to do the job correctly. We can all watch two minute videos that show you the highlights, (and get many more views than me) but we will never be accomplished in a video in that time. Thank you very much for the lovely comments, please remember to subscribe to the channel as that really helps us
Wow what a thorough and well explained video, thank you! Currently going through the motions of mine as we speak where the dryer is getting hot but clothes are taking ages to actually dry. I think the next step is me checking the back cover heating elements. I’m slowing learning quite a bit this evening! Turns out my drum is not rotating 🤔
Great video. Thank you for all you do and help ppl to save money in this expensive time.

That's brilliant. I recently bought a used Whirlpool Duet dryer from a fellow who had "upgraded". When I opened it up at home it too was full of lint and fluff. I couldn't understand why. Now I do. Though I will also now, having watched this video go back and give it an even more thorough cleaning .

It's not always what you see there are hidden ducts that need to be cleaned and it doesn't take a lot of pressure to close up the vent tube and this is what causes the restriction on the air flow and as soon as it starts it will just keep building up until it's cleaned that should be shared with everyone that has tumble dryer, not only for the safety, but also for the energy that they will save

General public does not always know that manufacturers are conning people. in the trade We all know that whirlpool Indesit, Hotpoint Ariston Creda are the same company, same product with a different pricetag.
Another great vid, thanks 👍

What a great tutorial on how to strip and clean this tumble dryer. It was a pleasure sir, watching it all. Thanks for your upload and time showing how to do it correctly. Please could you advise I have a similar dryer that has a square bush as opposed to a pear one. I have to replace about every 6 months and am noticing that there is a scrapping noise heard from the drum. What could be the cause of this please? If I needed to replace the tumble dryer what in your opinion would be the one to get? Thank you in anticipation and best regards, Brian 👍👏🏴👍👏🏴

Hi. I have an opposite problem, whereby my Beko condenser tumble dryer doesn’t switch off when on sensor drying. Have changed the metal strip sensor in the drum as a precaution but this didn’t make any difference, any ideas please?
I’ve a hotpoint dryer it’s making a droning noise I’ve replaced the fan , capacitor, and rear bearing still making a noise any clues

Lid rubbing drum.
I have a heat pump tumble dryer, can you please do a ‘maintenance’ video which does not involve taking the panels off? I clean the filter after use, and once a month or so take the other filter out the bottom and vac it clean and wipe it all down

It's already on my list to do, as you're mostly aware, I'm not a great fan of the heat pump dryers because they are not lasting much longer than five years, and when you consider the cost three times more expensive than a basic vented tumble dryer and then consider the energy saving. It's not stacking up. The technology is fantastic, but mixed with fluff they seem to be clogging a lot and some mikes are having gas problems because of corrosion.
Do you repair other appliances? HVAC, Hot Water Heaters, etc.?

why was the machine so full of fluff? Surely the ducting system is sealed. I've had tumble dryers for years, and we've never had fluff build up like that. We did always use White Knight, and our ancient one that finally gave out was really clean inside. We couldn't buy a new one as WK ceased trading. We have an Indesit one similar to one you have in this video. The filter for it is rubbish as it is only a half grid, so a fair bit of the fluff gets vented out the back pipe.

The vent tube that comes out of the back of the machine must've been kicked and a restriction started to form. this then causes the system to back up with fluff. Hence the problem when there is back pressure more fluff ends up inside the machine. But the filter not fitting correctly because of an obstruction caused much more than normal. I hope this helps you please remember to subscribe to the channel is that helps us?

Reason why this particular dryer was full of lint, is it’s a positive airflow design (pushes air through the heating element, drum, lint filter). Positive airflow dryers can dry things fairly quickly at lower temperatures but the unfortunate downside is anywhere, where air and can escape, will escape into the inside of the machine since there isn’t a 100% seal. The White Knight dryer you had more than likely was a negative airflow dryer (pulls air through the heating element, drum, lint filter) and negative airflow dryers don’t accumulate lint as nearly as fast as a positive airflow dryer since the air isn’t pressurized inside the drum pushing air and lint inside the machine will it will accumulate fairly quickly.
Why am I not surprised that it's an Indesit?

To be fair I have seen this happen on a lot of makes when the vent pipe is kinked. My favourite vented dryers are the zanussi and white knight but they have gone now
