I am pretty sure I saw them at 12 Y/O (friends mom dropped us off!) near Erie, PA? Northeast, maybe? I can't recall exactly where it was .. Absolutely unbelievable concert. Anyone recall where they may have played? I'm 62 now., so it was 1972 I think ..

More horns with Blood, Sweat & Tears "Spinning Wheels" and "You've Made Me So Very Happy". Good stuff.

I would add "Vehicle" by Ides of March. The horns are insane!

We are truly blessed to have lived in an era where there is so much talent on display. Early Chicago is unrivaled IMO. RIP Terry Kath. I’m pushing 60 and it’s heartwarming to see younger people get to experience and enjoy Chicago songs for the first time. Music is the closest thing we have to a time machine. Past present and future, it’s all there in the music if you are open to it.

Chicago had three main vocalist in the band: The first one you listened to - 25 or 6 to 4 - Peter Cetera (the bassist) sang the lead vocal The second one you heard - Make Me Smile - Terry Kath (the guitarist) sang the lead vocal This one - Does Anybody Really Know What Time it Is - Robert Lamm (the keyboard player )is singing the lead vocal. I love the song "Dialogue parts 1 and 2" where Terry Kath and Peter Cetera trade the vocals back and forth in a conversation. There's even one song I know of by them where Lee Loughnane (the trumpet player) sings the lead vocal - Song of the Evergreen.

Great info. The era with Cetera on vocals and most of the songs of Chicago's Greatest Hits 82-89 are their best collection IMHO. Cetera's voice is completely unique unto itself. Hard to Say I'm Sorry, Look Away, Love Me Tomorrow, You're the Inspiration, etc... that album is amazing. The channel should dive into some solo Cetera as well: Glory of Love from Karate Kid II, The Next Time I Fall (duet with Amy Grant), After All (Duet with Cher).

But, it would be good for them to know that after the first albums, that sound loaded with wind instruments began to disappear. They still had good songs, perhaps the most popular ones, like If You Leave Me Now, but for my taste it became a group of pop songs, generally ballads and soft rock tunes, very different from the music of its origins.

This was your 3rd Chicago Transit Authority song reaction and by chance or design each featured a different lead singer. I just love Chicago, especially their early stuff with Terry Kath. This one was written and sung by keyboard player Robert Lamm. Everyone in the band are great musicians. BTW, Make Me Smile was written/composed by Trombone player James Pankow and was actually part of a longer piece called "Ballet for a Girl in Buchannon" , Sung by the late great Terry Kath. 25 or 6 to 4 had Peter Cetera on lead vocal. Great reaction you two, Thanks!

The first 3 songs from Chicago you chose to listen to featured 3 different lead singers. Those voices combined with the glorious horns, killer rhythm section, stellar keys and Kath on guitar and you have one of THE finest bands of all-time.

You two have to be the happiest couple I’ve ever seen. You two have such chemistry laughs and happiness it’s great to see. One of the reasons I subscribed a while back. Love your channel. 💪🏼💪🏼👍🏼👍🏼

BEST concert I've ever been to in my life!! One of the Best bands Ever!!!

Robert Lamm sang lead on this one. He, Terry Kath, and Peter Cetera all sang lead over their catalogue. As an aside, they had to change their name from Chicago Transit Authority because the actual transit authority in Chicago got flooded with calls from fans. So they just became Chicago. Have a great day!

“Listen” or “Question 67 and 68” will give a good dose of both the amazing horn section and Terry Kath’s guitar

A solid horns experience is waiting for you to discover it. It's the flugelhorn, and it is played masterfully by Chuck Mangione. Check out the full length version of "Feels So Good" (it's around 9 minutes long) I wore that entire album OUT as a kid. The album is also called Feels So Good.

it's sad that we no longer have musicians like Chuck ... Chicago ... Stevie Wonder ... Herb Albert ... there are others who were so good and never really got the credit they deserved. At one point Chicago, Stevie and Chuck were just melting ears everywhere with their smooth and amazing sound

A time of such chaos......war in Vietnam, the draft, violent protest in the streets, the Watergate scandal, social upheaval in every corner........all played out to music that has stood the test of time. Ya just hadda be there!

I saw Chicago in the late 90s. They were amazing! So many hits. They opened for Crosby, Stills and Nash. For amazing harmonies you need to listen to CSN. Suite Judy Blue eyes is a good start.✌❤

Chicago, and Earth, wind, and Fire were in concert together! Talk about Horns!

Remember when you a kid out of school on Summer vacation, and you were outside playing the whole day, a day that only had two times; sunrise and sunset? That's the feeling and the philosophy this song invokes for me.

And for an incredible jamming Chicago song without horns - I’m a Man (also from CTA) There’s a good reason this first album is in the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Earth Wind and Fire is another horn heavy song. Saw them and Chicago together in concert. Most awesome part was when both groups shared the stage together to play. AMAZING

Colour My World is an awesome song by Chicago I used to play the flute and this song was one of my favorite songs to play. Been to many of their concerts and the never fail to pull you in and make you happy just to be there. The whole band is so instrumental and talented.

Chicago has an entire horn section as part of the band. Their lead guitarist "Terry Kath" is one of the best to ever play guitar. 25 or 6 to 4 showcases Terry`s abilities, RIP Terry!

I've had the good luck to see them in concert 4 times. Once with Earth, Wind and Fire, and their horn section joined in on this and other songs. It was amazing!

From the late 60’s to the late 80’s, Chicago was literally the soundtrack of people’s lives through good times , bad times and just everyday working and living, their music was always being played somewhere. Brings back so many memories of my childhood and teen years especially. Amazing to think about so many great artists like Chicago who made so much great music that defined the decade!

Chicago’s been around so long that their music is a spectrum. One band with so many sounds that when you say “I love Chicago” ya kinda have to be more specific to give people a sense of your music tastes.

Listen to Chicago's "Feeling Stronger Every Day" with lyrics. I was a victim of domestic violence, and at the very end of the song, they change up the lyrics to say: "The best thing to happen to you, is the worst thing that happened to me." When I arrived at the Women's Shelter, the first thing I saw was a poster that said "He hit her 99 times, she only got flowers once." Then you see flowers on top of a coffin. WOKE ME UP! I was too good to be put through what I thought I had to endure. The last time, I had a concussion for three months. Complete freedom for 5 years now ~ and feelin' stronger every day."

Keyboardist Robert Lamm is the lead singer on this one. Terry Kath and Peter Cetera are Chicago's other lead singers. You should check out "Wishing You Were Here" a great ballad which includes The Beach Boys providing backup vocals!

I haven't seen any comments about anyone recommending listening to a fabulous cover band called Leonid and friends. They are absolutely phenomenal. Mostly Chicago covers, but 98%accurate. Really need to have a listen. Definitely won't be disappointed

Three different lead singers. You heard bassist Peter Cetera sing on 25 or 6 to 4 and soulful Terry Kath (lead guitar) on Make Me Smile. This is Keyboardist and one of the principal writers Robert Lamm. Probably the best horn song from Chicago is Beginnings - from this same album. Make sure to play the full version - not the radio edit. Also Saturday in the Park is a classic. For a harder edge of their music try Poem 58 from this album or Free from Chicago III. Lowdown from Chicago III is also a great showcase. And while you are playing the CTA album start at the very beginning - their first song is called Introduction and showcases just about everyone in the band.

U2 have spread your musical wings… It’s refreshing to watch and listen to. Your appreciation comes through every single time, and I know I can relate I’m sure everybody else can…

just watching your live stream. I was at the grocery. You just unwrapped something that said VINCE GILL. He's a really big country star. Before that he was in Pure Prairie League. The song Amie is a huge hit. Still know every word. I was lucky enough to see Chicago in concert twice in the early 70's. Love it.

The songs "Introduction" and "I'm a Man" off of the same album are a must listen to. Introduction is an amazing opening song that takes you on a musical journey from beginning to end. I'm a Man has an awesome extended percussion solo.

Chicago has a fantastic Holiday album (Chicago XXV: The Christmas Album) you should check out for the coming season!! Especially "Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!" it is a Banger and has plenty of horns. Also their song "Saturday in the Park".

I love to see the expression on young people's faces today when they experience some of the incredible music from the 70's

The first concert I ever saw was Chicago at the height of their career in the 70s and they become my favourite band. I'm a sucker for horns and played trumpet in high school so I also became a fan of other bands like Chase, Blood Sweat And Tears, Tower Of Power, and Earth Wind And Fire. Chicago though is still my most favourite band of all time. ❤

You want horns, listen to Chuck Mangione "Feels so Good" or Herb Alpert " Spanish Flew" You won't be disappointed.

My only problem with him is he often played sharp on the Flugelhorn and did not adjust while playing to get it in tune, although something not easy to do on those damned Flugelhorns, lol, it can be done. Yes I was a player and music student in college

I can't imagine why anybody would care about time. We've all got time enough to cry. This one was so much fun with you two! I actually could feel your gratitude and joy. This is one of those songs I have to sing along.

There are horns (or a horn) in this song. It is a flute - which I guess is technically a woodwind.

Chicago was so ahead of other bands of the era. The layers and layers of sound, from horns to the spectacular backup vocals are like a wave coming over you when you listen. Thanks for this one❤️

I have always felt that their first album " Chicago Transit Authority" is their best all around. My guitar teacher used to praise Terry Kath as one of the best in business. Love your reactions.

Blood,Sweat, & Tears, was the template for Chicago Transit Authority, a.k.a. "Chicago" If you havent checkd out those guys yet, you should.

Having grown up in Chicago, pretty much on the lakefront beaches and parks on a daily basis growing up and for exercise, later working for the park district, and then working in the Loop for a number of years, this song is so very visual to me. :) Never gets old. Love this band.

Another song that I have the privilege of playing with my local jazz band, THIS song is the best fusion of jazz big band and rock and roll you can find!

South California Purples by Chicago is a must.

How have you missed Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass "A Taste of Honey" all this time though? Or any of Al Hirt's classics including the themes from "Get Smart" and "The Green Hornet" for that matter?

This is exactly why I still listen to this, a great horn section.

Just a reminder for new listeners, the original band (first 10 years) featured three lead singers including Robert Lamm on this one. Peter Cetera's voice is more of a classic tenor and was featured on Old Days, Feeling Stronger, Questions 67 & 68 and 25 or 6 to 4. Terry Kath's voice covered the low register (Make Me Smile) and his was extremely soulful. Few bands had three great singers plus three HOF song writers.

If you’ve not reacted to Blood, Sweat & Tears, they are a must. Their horns are even better than Chicago. Both were recording and hitting the top of the charts at the same time. I had all the albums of both bands. BS&T was my favorite. Spinning Wheel was a big hit, but listen to Lucretia McEvil for an incredible music experience.

Chicago had 3 vocalists - Robert Lamb (this is him), Make Me Smile - Terry Kath, 25 or 6 to 4 - Peter Cetera. Try Beginnings - Robert Lamb sings on that also.

Note this song was sung by Pianist Robert Lamm the third voice of Chicago along with Pete Cetera and Terry Kath. They had so much style and could change in a second! Jazz/Rock was born.

Little One is a must listen by Chicago. It’s not a highly requested song but definitely worth a listen. A beautiful musicians song to his child and if you know the full story will bring a tears to your eyes.

There's a "one hit wonder" group with great horns you may like from the early 70's called Chase, named after the lead trumpet player, Bill Chase. The song is "Get It On". They played my high school about 1972 and he died in a plane crash a year or so later.

I always include them in the discussion despite the brevity of their existence due to Chase's tragic death. I figure, if their output had been of the quality and attack of "Get It On", they would have ruled, also.

@@celestemartinez3560 I like that one too. "Lisa Listen to Me" and "When I Die" are other favorites. They also do a great version of the Beatles' "Got to Get You Into My Life". Everyone thinks of the hits like "Spinning Wheels" and "You Made Me So Very Happy". But I prefer the more up tempo stuff.

You have to do "You've Made Me So Very Happy" by Blood, Sweat and Tears. Justvas much horns as Chicago and unforgettable lead vocal by David Clayton Thomas. Trust me you will love it,

You wanna see how Chicago started out? Try the first song on their first album... Introduction.

This was their 1st album before they shortened their name to just Chicago. Imagine hearing this on the radio the 1st time!!! Same reaction as Rob & Amber. Smiles and a happy step in your walk.

The first one you listened to - 25 or 6 to 4 - Peter Cetera (the bassist) sang the lead vocal The second one you heard - Make Me Smile - Terry Kath (the guitarist) sang the lead vocal ... and here on Does Anybody Know the lead singer is Robert Lamm ... Many reasons why Chicago was and still is a unique, super successful, and awesome band ... 3 excellent lead singers was truly a special signature to this legendary band, Denis Rouma T.
