I have been using open stock for a couple years along with several BNF Safe Select planes. Did my first model download. Used the Eflite Extra in an Extreme Flight 48” MXS. What a huge difference and pleasure it is to fly now.

Can confirm the part about reversing the servos. It's really hard to try and land in windy conditions while the AS3X is doing the opposite of what it should. I've done it xD

Very nice video, thanks for posting. That said, quick question: I just bought a Draco 2.0 with AS3X and SAFE Select. Is there anything I need to do, other than bind it to my Radio (Radiomaster TX16s) if I JUST want to start flying!? It sounds like as if I only need this tool if I want to use the RX in another Plane, or if I want to change some settings in the RX. Correct? Thanks.

Nice tutorial, question, if you program the RX , is it then not required to do the same in the TX, only to bind and fly... going to put this is a Cirrius and hopefully the FMS Fox (trying to find a setup but none found)

Thanks Tom. I have an AR636A and I followed your instructions. Everything was as you demonstrated but I couldn't find "calibrate". Any advice? Anyway truly a great instructional video.

So what do you do if the plane you are going to use it in is a different mfr or an unlisted plane?

Could you expand on how to use the AR636 in a model that may not be listed in the configuration files?

Some things not discussed in video... how do I know that the upload of the model to the receiver has been successful? What is the difference between 'this device' and 'other device' on the models screen? I never get the 'Calibrate' question. After going through all of the steps in the video, then installing in the plane, doing a new bind. All of the AS3x functions seem to have been lost. There is no gyro correction and no SAFE functions, and yes, I did arm the ESC by running the motor.

For calibration, you will be prompted to do level calibration if upgrading from 1.xx. If you have newer firmware already installed in the receiver, it won't ask this.

Thanks for the very comprehensive article on this subject. It appears that at times in the video, the receiver was an AR636a and other times an AR636. Does it matter which one I have?

Jerry Hill the only difference is the A model will need to be reprogrammed, as it programmed from the factory.

Is there a way to turn on AS3X if you are not using one of the provided profiles? ... like if I'm using the RX in an FMS jet model.

Having trouble running Gear and SAFE select in an AR636A. Downloaded 1.2 P-51 Mustang which has retracts and flaps. Gear in ch 5 and flaps in ch 6. Do some 636A’s allow using ch 5 and others do not?

Hi.I have the ar636b from aeroscout 1.1 .will I be able to install it to a Turbo Timber having the SAFE functionality and flaps like the bnf model?

I have the cable etc and latest everything, I’ve got an old ar636 from my old viper I wish to put the carbon cub setup on. However when I try to import the new srm file it doesn’t show in the window. Then if I disconnect my rx it shows the new srm file but I can’t transfer it as I’ve turned the power off to the rx. Really confusing me

I have the PC program for the AR636 I have programed my F 16 64mm and it is currently in Safe mode continually and working, I cannot program a switch to turn it off. I have noticed in the program in the Port Assignment section that the Aileron, Elevator and Rudder is highlighted in the Safe section. Would this affect me not being able to set a switch to turn off Safe mode. Should I put them back into the Hold section, and try again, any help would be great..

Great video. Please excuse my simple mind but does this mean that an AR636 AS3X receiver that I bought almost 2 years ago can be updated with firmware to become both AS3X and SAFE Select capable? Also, would the firmware update also make the receiver bluetooth capable?

If you bought it two years ago, the receiver hardware already supports SAFE. But the "stock" AR636s came with firmware 1.xx (AS3X-only). You simply need to flash it to firmware 2.xx to enable SAFE. The actual story is much longer than the above simple sentence. Question ? How can whipe out one model to install a new program ? I have a AR636B I followed this application but would it be nessery to delete one model before adding another in the receiver ?

I did the steps like you show us here but when I got to the calibration it didn't ask me to do so, the AR636 I'm trying to set up it's an AR636 that I got from the clip wing cub and I'm trying to put it on my F-27 evolution, I need your help!!!

hi tom in installed an 636 rx in my cirrus pnp. everything downloaded ok but it never asked me to calibrate. does that mean its calibrated already., and no reason to calibrate?

What do you do if the model you want to install it on is an obscure model not listed on the ap?

If I'm at the RC Field I fly at and cannot connect to the Internet on my laptop and logon to the account I've already created can I still use this to change some settings on my AR636A? Also, upon completion do we simply unplug the receiver from the cable and our changes we made, if any, are already applied?

Good information. I would not have been able to get into this hobby without safe select. However there is a lot of Safe Select Shaming in the club I belong to, but no one wants to buddy box either. I’m working out of it, but a shame for new flyers not wanting to crash out of the hobby

I bought a SPMAR630 DSM2/DSMX 6-Channel AS3X/SAFE Telemetry Receiver. It arrived with a programming cable but no USB connector. I did buy the SPMA3065 - TX/RX USB Programming Cable. Forward programming is available in my DX8e radio transmitter/receiver. I am having trouble understanding how to program SAFE Select ie: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced modes. Where can I find specific instructions for MY receiver? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Is it possible to do updates and AS3X modifications using a Spektrum bluetooth connector on the bind/batt on receiver and a iX12 AS3X app?

I did this on my 1st gen Timber and things are working much better. However I can't get safe to turn off. I've tried binding it before and after unplugging the bind plug with no change. Any Ideas?

I have problems with the configuration of the AR636B receiver when the plane is flying, it makes me suddenly tremble and it returns to normal and then after a while it gets shaky again and I don't know what to do or why it does that in As3x technology assisted flight mode

Motion RC has a receiver with a gyro that works similar although a little more difficult to program ( much cheaper price). It is something 600 on their site.

Now if your receiver dies you can get another one & simply program it. NO .. nothing about spektrum is SIMPLE

Could this be used to set up AS3X and SAFE channels "from scratch" on a Spektrum receiver without a Spektrum radio? Also, are these combined into one "flight mode" channel?

Wants me to register device and comes back as can't register. You must register device first and website not allowing me to register it as well. I replaced a servo and reversed my servo with the blue tooth program tool and my phone. I am flying the Aeroscout. I must have erased the receiver settings by a accident. I downloaded the Aeroscout file with my phone. I went through the motions and put the copy of the Aeroscout on the Ar636. Now the ASX gyro doesn't work. I can pick up the plane up and it has no movement in the surfaces. I'm stuck and don't know how to activate the gyro

Please help--going crazy. I watched this video and programmed two AR636 with no problems at all. I then pulled another ar636 out of a viper and followed the video BUT when I download the model I want it does not show up in the program. I am connected to the receiver and click on models and my receiver is in the window but the model i download does not show up in the window. To really drive me nuts when I disconnect the receiver the models I download show up in the window. If I reconnect the receiver they disappear and only my receiver is there. I tried it on two computers and two receivers so maybe my cable is bad?? That is the only constant so I guess I'll try a new cable.

I bought your F-15 BNF airplane, put it together and now i have a problem. If i turn on safe, the elevator is going to a slight down position. Is this right? I'm looking forward for my maiden flight and i have to handlaunch it. Will the plane fly itself into the ground or is this 1-2 mm elevator down setting how it should be to counterstear some lift that is generated otherwise? Thanks

What are we importing? New settings from the Spektrum website into Spektrum Programmer on new settings from the Spektrum Programmer into the receiver? You are not clear which of the two?

The settings (model presets) come essentially "live" on the website. The program is the tool for getting those files to the receiver.

So if you can do all this through a computer, what is the point of buying a fancy transmitter then? Thanks!

I've just purchased a 2nd hand E-flite P47 1.1m which has a spektrum AR636A receiver but I don't think it has SAFE installed, can I reprogram the receiver to have SAFE?

It would be great if you would add the ability to change the orientation of the receiver in the computer program. It seems strange you left that out of the most usable software for programming yet it was in your mobile versions.

When I connect my AR636 or AR8010T to the program it only allows me to access the "Software Update" portion and the other options like Dashboard, Model Settings and Initial Setup are all greyed out. They are only available to me when the receivers are NOT connected! Of course this doesn't make sense. Any tips?

David, the AR637 has SAFE programming that can be used for almost any plane!

Henry, unfortunately no. The Fusion 480 needs extensive programming that the AR636A won't be able to accomplish on its own.

Can I mount this receiver upside down. Im trying to put this receiver on the Conscendo Evolution?
