This IS AN EXCELLENT 3 part series! Thank you! As another has commented, very easy to understand and contains the information we need to setup!
Best training and instruction I have seen on using AS3X to date.
Great timing.. I have been acquiring all these AS3X receivers with BNF purchases ,, but have no idea how to utilize them properly. Now I am to the point I want to upgrade my old DSM2 receivers in my Balsa planes I built years ago (bought a DX9 Black). It will be great to use all the features. Thanks for sharing !
yeah I don't know, I have an AR 636 receiver that I tried setting up with stabilization in a glider. Gave up hope after like 2 hours of trying to fuss with it. Has to be so damn complicated. Ended up just going with an external stabilizer between the servos and a standard receiver.
Wonderful instructions. And remember to set up AS3X before setting up SAFE. And if you just need to set up a replacement receiver for a stock plane that comes with SAFE/AS3X...good luck.Amazing how Horizon complicates things.I can't get a stock programmed receiver,or a simple file to download, but Horizon sells the plane with a setup receiver.Customer service? Motion sells a gyro receiver with panic recovery. Looks much easier to set up.
I've just binded dx7s to ar630 system works but how do I get safe without going on computer which I don't have
do i have to program my phone and the As3x. i dont want any safe guards.
How do I add/remove models in the Available Models page of the iOS application? Currently in my list I have two Default models and 4 models out ow which I am interested in only one. I want to remove 3 models and add a new one - I already have the file on my PC, but not in my iPhone.
Anyone try using on of these Spektrum receivers with an FMS PNP? I can not get the throttle channel changed over to port 3.
Does anyone have a setup file for the Eflite Air Tractor.5 chats with "tech" service gives me nothing but heartburn.
cant get my viper to turn in the space of a 2 lane road, noticed I can't adjust the rudder much. Was told by Horizon the plane was released with a software bug, and I can get more travel if I use this thing, the transmitter rate is limited. So they send me this thing, instruction says 012345 is the pin to pair. Try entering it, and told "incorrect pin #" everytime. WTF?? Why does this have to be such a PITA..I just want to turn the damn plane !!!
I got the .srm programming file loaded into the app from the Spektrum download page. However, how do I write the file to the receiver? Every time I pair the Bluetooth , it wants to create a new model. It won’t push the settings to the receiver.

Don't use bluetooth !! That app just does not work. Get the USB cable and do it from your computer.
I have problems with the configuration of the AR636B receiver when the plane is flying, it makes me suddenly tremble and it returns to normal and then after a while it gets shaky again and I don't know what to do or why it does that in As3x technology assisted flight mode

gains are probably up to high then.
Ali is it possible to get your settings for the cub email to me
Something I have learned since recently going through these useful steps. I got the idea of leaving the Bluetooth Dongle attached to the rx bind/program port from this video. It seemed like a no-brainer and super convenient for flightline programming touch-ups. I'm not certain about ALL Spektrum Rx's but on my AR9350T I'm running in the Carbon Cub, if I leave the dongle plugged in, the satellite remote receiver port "L" will not recognize the remote, making one of the 3 receiver antennae useless. There are some reports of rx glitches due to some of this BLE process as well. There's a discussion on RCGroups regarding this issue for those that may be utilizing this helpful video. The fix? Do your programming, pull the dongle, shut off all blue tooth on devices around plane, plug in remote in to L port and then power cycle the rx. I have just run a 6" heavy duty servo extension to an accessible location just inside the Cub's door so I can plug the dongle in easily. Otherwise, all has been flawless! Very helpful video series!
Does the AS3X work fine with a petrol engined aircraft?

Paul, yes indeed. We used this same AS3X setup on this exact plane after converting to gas: kzread.info/dash/bejne/omesxsGGcruoqJc.html

Can you set up safe for a petrol engine model?
How can we get someone to email the settings to us?

Interesting conversation but lost me. I've been away from my RC Sailplanes for a few years and now returning (timing is everything) the technology has leapt so far forward that while these great instructors are nodding their heads, I'm scratching my brow. Even common terms in the iPhone app have turned to Yaw, Roll, etc....no more simple stuff for us like rudder, elevator...feel like I need an orientation class to everything now. LOL
That goddamn beeping!

Agreed. Its distracting and not needed for the video.
Hey guys can i put the ar636 in a nitro powered plane?
@Scairborne66

NO! these devices cannot handle the vibrations of anything higher than a .90 electric motor. Gas/Nitro a no-no. sorry for delayed reply

While I’m not sure about the ar636 I know you can use the ar7350 and 9350 in gas and nitro planes. I’ve been using the 7350 with a Saito 4stoke with no problems. They specify that they are designed to work with gas and nitro engines.

@@Scairborne66 I’ve heard mounting them on fuel line hosing or some rubber for dampening works... no?
I think Horizon is about to jump the shark with all this complexity. I waste all my time screwing with this confusing radio. Takes all the fun out of it.
This is neat but. Feels like someone is Phishing for info when I started to install the app. Why would this need my location and access to audio? Not going to be installing this one. It is an invasion of my privacy.
no interest in the ape just the radio for this oldschool guy and having to buy a phone isn't an option
That guy talks to much, just program the damn thing
