I rediscovered your page on here, I just found a book written by you by accident. "Hop Gar Mantis Kung Fu" so far it's a good read.

lionsroarsifu what is the purpose of the seed fists? from what I can see I would guess that they are to learn to generate power, synchronize and connect that power with the stance, body and arms?

chineseboxer9991 Yes, that's it, plus, mind-body connection. In many ways the seed fists aren't particularly practical, but in my view that's not their best purpose (applied practicality). The synchronization you mention also involves arc-segmantation so that long-arm power is reduced to short-arm power and then extended back out again so that you have a full-bandwidth of the power-chain along the whole arc-path. This also entrauns the notion of multiple re-firing points along the arc-path - something which arises pout from a real clash against a non-compliant opponents structure. Stand-off fire-and forget flailing isn't the best use of 'long' arm power. Long-fists should be used for precision whole-body-weight close-in penetration and follow through. The long-arm basics entrain a degree of fitness, and also linkages for power, but in practice, these should be 'fired' with thoughtfullness rather than run out as wild flailing.

lionsroarsifu I find it so interesting that very different styles of kung fu, when trained traditionally, share so much in common in the basics. I suppose we are all human in the end. a shame how rare it can be. thank you for the in depth explanation. keep up the videos!
