Wow it’s not often I look for a problem solving video and find one!! Everything u did was exactly what i did. Except I cleaned my car floors. What a ridiculous set up. Thank u so much for posting this! I will get a new belt and something else to clean my car. :)

This was my 2nd Hoover Carpet Cleaner that went caput on me... i'm ready to just go shop vac and manually shampoo at this point... and yes this model is very messy, it's great at sucking up hair and fibers but it doesn't have anywhere for it to go except to clog the suction area, underneath and in between the brushes, etc. Serenity now!

Agree! The locking mechanism for standing up the cleaner is not reliable, and, unless you double check, the machine will eat a belt. Disagree with assessment of cleaning ability; our Hoover FH5 1001 cleans very well.

I would recommend returning it or replacing the machine

I have had nothing but problems with this carpet cleaner, everytime I used the hose my whole floor would be soaked it would just leak and then I smelt a melting burning smell and my belt broke on it. I decided not even to fix it and just get a different one

Get the Bissell Revolution its so much better. This is my 2nd dual power max, my first one had some plastic snap inside when changing a belt

I have this exact same model. Is the roller brush supposed to keep going when you’re using the hose attachment? Help 💀

No. Its supposed to stop. But this model has constant problems. Which causes the belt to keep spinning when upright burning out the belt and melting the plastic parts. Toss it and look in to a Smartwash or Bissell

Can I lower the brushes to do my hard wood floors?

No it won't clean hard floors.

There should be a meconizome that should be in there so when it is upright it takes the belt off of the spindle to keep it fron doing that

Yea this is my 2nd🙄, this machine is being retired and will be replaced eventually.

I had the same exact problem too, I was using the hose and started to smell something burning and then a weird noise started. I had a the bulky Hoover steam vac and that worked for years so I assumed this Hoover would be good. I was wrong.

I would honestly recommend returning this and getting the Bissell Revolution pet instead. Its a much better machine.

Mine will only dispenser water from the hand held hose but not from the bottom of the machine. I've tried cleaning it and still no spray

I would contact hoover. If they can't help then I would recommend a new machine.

I bought this machine and was so excited until the belt would burn almost every time I would go to use the attachment. I called Hoover and they stated it wasn't defected but would give me 50% discount on another one.

It does shut off. But that is what causes the belt burning issue

I just bought one from Walmart yesterday and I tried it for first time 20 mins ago and it leaks so bad lol hole floor flooded with water and I used it in small area in room and suction for hose was nice but so damn annoying

I honestly can't remember what belt this takes.

Use a Rug Rake before vacuuming, then after, vacuum one more time. Our Hoover Dual power max is not sucking up water.v

You can use that old belt I've burned through three of them so far I got it all jacked up with a cover off so I can tell what's happening it's exactly what you say except mine has a guide over top of the belt that shreds the belt so I've taken the guide off and it's running there like half the belts ground down and the other half still there so I just run it until it snaps go on to the next one I just sent Hoover a message to see what they have to say to me about the design

@@VacMaster1991Hoover put this guide in there that has little metal parts just snapped onto the guide that cut the belt once you get some use out of it cuz the belts going back and forth on the spindle next thing you know shred it up like cheese I like the machine I just think that that one piece is ruining it for everybody not just me everybody who changes the belt will have this problem and you have to change it a lot of belts on this machine cuz it's constantly getting shredded why would they design something like that. I've gone through three belts in one year after your first belt I think they want you to buy a new machine that's what I think built-in obsolescence

I have one and after a few uses it leaks BADLY all over the place!

loop it over the metal motor shaft. Then push it thought to body and wrap it over the brushes.

Get the Bissell revolution you will like it

Have spent well over an hour removing 15 screws and deep cleaning machine and removing hair from the rollers in an attempt to clean the disgustingly dirty clear screen on the bottom front of the machine. The screen still will still not budge. Would not recommend this machine.

Honestly just get a Bissell revolution pet. I had two of these hoovers break

hoover has been doing this for decades now and people still dont get it with this design the machine in park cannot be used. i dont even think its wise to turn it on parked or park it running. the hose on hoovers with the pedal is just a belt eating machine because park always stops the belt making it do this too

Sounds like it's defective. Check your stores return policy. I have had 2 of these break. Just toss it and get the Bissell revolution

I have one and it’s a peace of junk. My partner had it back to the shop cause it thought burned up the drive belt. They at the shop plugged it in and it works. Told her she wasn’t using correctly?My guess it was a thermal overload cutout kicked in on her ( I was working away at the time) She took it back and used it semi satisfactorily twice. Went to use it the other day and it smoked up and stopped, seems to have burnt out the motor. Might have had total 4 hours run time max probably more like 2. The carpet is low pile so it’s not like she’s trying to clean anything silly. I don’t think I have ever owned a machine that has been more useless and frustrating to use and clean. Why would you ever market this poor excuse for a machine. As an engineer I look at how it’s built and wonder how much crack they where smoking that day

Had the same hoover given to me. I replaced the belt and within 5 minutes the belt started to burn. Went to wally world I really wanted to buy the same one because of price but went with bissell pet pro instead. That is a bad design. Hoover should be ashamed

I am. This machine was free from Hoover for a review. I still can't recommend this machine. Its too unreliable. I will be replacing the Dual Power Max with something else in the future.

@@VacMaster1991 What’s funny is that I am are used to have a Hoover very similar to this it died after 5 1/2 months I replace that with a Bissell it broke after my dog got a hold of a piece to it then I replace that with a very cheap Hoover but I couldn’t take it anymore with it eventually I bought the Hoover smart wash and as of now I have had the Smart wash for almost Two years and I’ve had no problems with it not even one

I have found the most durable carpet cleaner to be the Bissell big green. Mine is 5 years old and going strong.

Hoover makes junk, and their customer service is terrible. I paid $250 for a new carpet cleaner, used it 3 times in about 6 months and the bearing for the belt locked up, burnt the belt up and destroyed itself. Hoover customer support would only replace it with this model that cost less than half of the model I paid for.

This is the absolute worst carpet shampooer to replace the belt on. 0/10 🌟 would not recommend. I will not be purchasing another one like this that has to be completely taken apart just to get to the belt. I will also be looking at other models and how to replace the belts before purchasing any other carpet shampooer in the future. After dismantling I found out that the brush rollers bearings were not freely moving and required much force to get them to move at all once they were removed. I got the bearings loosened up by wd-40 sprayed in the screw holes in the rollers and would be only a temporary fix, because once the cleaner and water saturates the brush rollers again they will become seized up again.

I had this happen twice. The first one broke. They sent me another one it broke as well.

I fckin hate this vaccum! I just used it today, bought it last Christmas and came during New Years. I had the same problem, something with the belt that melted I was so annoyed and frustrated. I wanna cry it such a waste of money!

If your looking for a carpet cleaner, just get bissell because honestly carpet cleaners are not that great in quality anymore including vacuums. Bissell is pretty much your only option if you want a decent quality vacuum or carpet cleaner
