Hong Kong university campus torn apart by deadly street battles

Around a hundred exhausted, bedraggled young men and women are hunkered down in Hong Kong’s Polytechnic University, the scene of pitched battles between police and activists. (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
Inside we found exhausted teenagers, stranded and desperate, worried as much about being arrested by police as by their parents’ reaction. Some of the protestors were ditching their distinctive black clothes, the uniform of the protest, to try and make a run for it. Others stay put, wanting to fight until the bitter end.
Tonight tension has flared up all around the city as other protesters try to distract police, hoping to give the stranded students a chance to break out.
More mass protests may be on the horizon too, as rumours swirl that, after months of chaos, the government is going to cancel this weekend’s election.

That being said i still commend them for going to the front lines of this. Bottom line is all media has its bias you just have to look past it and see what the actual news is, it helps to get that from multiple sources.

I mean, if this is what the students want to call a revolution, then they have to fight to the end. But some kids were probably caught up in the moment and think they can be a heroes. the protestors made a huge gamble when they tried to take over HK Polytech. HK Polytech is located in Kowloon, across the harbor from HK island. It is their first real attempt to establish a foothold in Kowloon, which is physically located on mainland China. If successful in the takeover, than it would be a huge victory for the protestors. But it failed badly because the local Kowloon residents would not support them. About 800 protestors were arrested. Now the protest movement is now confined to HK island. It makes it much easier for China to deal with them.

There was never a plan to begin with, they destroyed the campus themselves, flooding the halls and classrooms, forcing protesters to camp outside. It's kind of funny actually, they're so poorly prepared they didn't think about the long run. It was probably better to camp inside the rooms instead of destroying them and having to live outside. That is one of the reasons they didnt last long, because it was an unpleasant stay. Nobody really wants to sleep on grass with hundreds of people around them.
