Hong Kong is in the grip of its biggest political crisis since the city’s 1997 handover from British rule to Chinese sovereignty. Continuing protests, which at times turned violent, have slammed the government since it proposed an amendment to the city's extradition laws that would open the door to transfers of suspects to mainland China.
Hong Kong people say they are slowly losing freedoms they enjoy - freedoms not offered to citizens on the Chinese mainland. But how do mainlanders who live and study or work in Hong Kong view the crisis?

That UK flag in the background though. We forget that Hong Kong was probably the only British colony that was not happy about the British departure

Props to the PhD student trying to understand the HK perspective.
Look at how they care about each other...heartbreaking..
Humanity shows when they warn her to wear protective gears🙂
The young people ask the elders to have gears and concern about her safety is really2 heart warming
All the british cononies have leftover problems. Can anyone notice this? India vs Pakistan;Malaysia vs Brunei;China Hongkong vs China mainland etc... No exception.
"Without justice prosperity is just an illusion"
Ngl if I lived in HK I would be terrified to even step out of the house
It's the trust factor.if HK trusted China, they would've signed it long back

It's incredible to see the amount of care that the protesters have for each other.
My whole family is Catonese, only my mother is Chinese. Because of the protest, I had to skip my lessons just to protect her while she was going to work. What is wrong with them, what is wrong with us?
"People willing to trade their freedom for security deserve neither and will lose both." -- Benjamin Franklin. Fight to stay free, Hong Kong.
Heartbroken when seeing all these.
Only the people who have tasted the fruit of freedom will understand what they have lost and become fearless to fight for it back. There is a difference between people who fight for freedom and people who fight for lost freedom.
That's not protest, that's struggle for freedom.
Even admist all the protests I’m glad they still care about the elderly :)
