Can someone that actually read the book explain to me why Katniss ended up falling in love with him? Or why she, from the start, cared more about him leaving the games alive? I still have hope that there's actually a reason other than 'she eventually will need to fall in love with him to make plot more dramatic'

In the books Katniss herself thought that when Finnick was restarting Peeta's heart, he was kissing his corpse

@@wintermacca That's the only gripe I have with the first movie. Due to the story being from Katniss' perspective, it makes perfect sense. She didn't know everything Peeta did to help her out, but the movies could have shown him leading the careers astray, staying awake under the tree all night worried sick, running back to the tracker jacker nest to tell Katniss to run away and fighting Cato to give her a chance to do so. The movie is all about Katniss and there's nothing wrong with that, it's her story, but they did Peeta dirty by not giving him any credit at all.

In all honesty, when I first saw the movies, I thought Katniss' performance was inconsistent, either really emotional or blander than bread. But then I reread the Hunger Games, and I read that Katniss had learned to hide every aspect about herself in order to protect her family because she had such revolutionary thoughts. That was when I realized that Jennifer Lawrence's performance was exactly like Katniss in the book

Peeta is the dandelion in the meadow. The flower that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can be good again, no matter how bad our losses. And hot. He is hot.

Am I the only one that is niether Team Peeta nor Team Gale. It was obvious from the first 50-60 pages that she will be with Peeta and I don't honstly see what does that have to do with anything of the Hunger games. This is not the love story of Katnis, but the story how she is an inspiration for Panem to stand up to the goverment... after 75 years of anual kids murdering.
