what bothers me about people criticize this movie is people want to make katniss a super strong superhero when she's really just a partially deaf teenage girl with ptsd who never wanted any kind of revolution in the first place. all the stuff about her romance or being the mockingjay is just other people manipulating her into what they want. katniss literally just wanted to go hunting with her best friend and not have her little sister sent off to her death.

The people running right at the front knew they were going to die shielding the people with the BOXES of explosives, also the part where they all jumped on the peacekeepers and attacked the living shit out of them. There were around 300-500 people if guesstimate and look closely. -Rant over.

Zed Have you seen what a full metal jacket round does to a group of civilians in a tight column? At that range those rounds would be scything through them like butter, they would lose far more than the dozen or at each point. Also, the mob wouldn't get that close without alarms or security systems triggering, several more squads would reinforce the dam before the mob got within a hundred metres of it.

TrinnaBotAMVs Thats't the cop-out response people have been throwing around imo, but the movie (also dont care how it should have been or is in the books) portrayed Katniss as a whimsical brat, even worse than in the first two movies. This movie had a chance to make a strong female lead for once, without sacrificing her internal struggles. When she volunteered in the first one and I was hopeful, the first half of that first Hunger Games had me excited, to only slap in the face with disappointment, not for being bad, but for not being what it could have been. So in this one they again fail the opportunity to portray a female lead as strong, by having say, get all pissed at snow, play the "propaganda thing" to keep 13 happy and the revolution going, while on the side plot to get Peeta out, leading to the last scene with the rescue mission but with her being there to get him out. Filler footage of her trying to handle the PTSD on her own without showing it, maybe have her get close to alcohol/pills abuse and have Haymitch come in to help her on it (him having experience and all that). I'm no screenwriter but watched enough movies to come up with a few hints to make this boring 2h trailer worth a watch, I cant understand why no one with proper skills gave 2 corrupted bytes about this to at least try.

shes 18 years old you expect her to be a completely rational girl? she can be strong while still having mental illnesses and not doing the right thing. strong characters can be villians even. they stand for what they believe in- katniss, for everything shes been through, is still passionate about protecting people like her mother sister, gale, and peeta. in the books, CF specifically, when she learns shes going back into the games she gets drunk. but in mockingjay its specifically said alcohol isnt a resource to be consumed there in the movie AND the book (i say 'to be consumed because im sure they have it for sterilization'). the movie does feature her dealing with it. people just mistake it for her being a baby.

A lot of tension and atmosphere, and her discomfort discovering this new underground realm. It made me really excited for the next one which, sadly, was kind of a mess and a huge letdown for me.

Jennifer Lawrence looked awkward in this film and like the 1st hunger games felt like she was forced to show emotion whenever she mentions Peeta. Also Gale saves her family and goes through enemy territory to try to save Peeta and all he gets is a Thank you at the end?

My theory behind it is that they're doing it because everyone else is. Harry Potter, Twilight, The Hobbit, etc. I feel they jumped on the train just so that they could bring in that extra money. I've not read the books, but as someone who wants to get into film, that movie coulda been done in half the time or less and just added as another 45 minutes to the final film and make it have a running time of like 3 hours. Like it's the final film of a series, why not split it up into 2 b/c you know you're going to make that profit as people won't skip the last film. If you do that with the first film and it flops (Batman vs Superman let's say) then it screws everything else. But as the last film, you have nothing to lose b/c we know everyone is going to see the final installment.

+jay kj seriously? Redeemed the series? It let the series down. If it was just one move, then it would have been more successful than it already is. The fact that they made it two parts, and longed it out, made the hype fade away cos it's the waiting. The waiting that makes the excitement fade. You grow up eventually. They could have showed part one is 20 mins. Should have made the rest about the war. You can't believe this was better than Catching Fire? Catching Fire was too sick. I still liked Part 1, it's good for the book readers cos it's an adaptation, you just wanna see it played out on screen cos you already knows what happens. But for movie watchers it's shit.

Not that I didn't like catching fire, but the amount of criticism Mockingjay part 2 received in particular, surprised me.

They could've easily n probably should've made it 1 movie. This movie was jus a money grab. Compare it Harry Potter. In Both the last movies, there was an acutal purpose in both

Watched this on the plane yesterday, and honestly, I have no idea why it's getting this much hate. I freaking loved it! I know it was severely lacking in the action front and reading such harshness about it made me put it off for almost a year, but it was surprisingly tense, visually stunning, and exceptionally well-acted, with most of the stars giving their best performances as their characters to date. I agree that the Peeta-related stuff started to get a little exhaustive, but since Katniss is such a strong hero you can root for and relate to, all these "do nothing" scenes intended to add a serious tone really got to me and all the emotional talk, arguing and crying, etc. didn't really get very annoying because you could truly feel the pained, atmospheric weight of the situations at hand. It didn't "squander" its supporting cast, for a matter of fact - Julianne Moore got a hell of a lot of screen time as Coin and spent it well, and Philip Seymour Hoffman was a blast to watch. His final role was a good one. And for all the action it didn't have, that raid scene at the end intercut with Finnick's narration was damn thrilling (Sutherland was terrifying as Snow), and the Capitol's backlash to the waterfront's destruction (with the bunkers collapsing) really kept me on the edge of my seat. I understand that it needs some patience to get through and fans of the first two movies may feel a little alienated with something that feels so different (I know I did), but to me it really paid off all that anger and emotion built up in the first two films, and really shows what a rebellion should and would look like. Also loved all the appearances from so many TV actors like Remy from House of Cards, Foggy from Daredevil and of course Natalie Dormer - I don't watch Game of Thrones but I loved her in Elementary and she was great here too. Superb movie and a great setup to a very promising-looking part 2.

Anyone who read the book knows that the first part of Mockingjay is about Katniss coming out of her trauma at the arena, the war and loosing Peta, who she finally start realizing she cares. If this movie was made WHOLE and not in 2 parts, it wouldn't be an issue, but the crap screen-writers wanted to make money and divided in two something that shouldn't. The result is a movie that has no plot and only the built-up annoying part of the book. Sure the second movie will probably be great, but any Hunger Games fan will have to survive this crap to get there. They have to stop cutting books in half ASAP

If we go by that, since I haven't read the book (Nor will i ever), then they effectively ruined both movies because they're putting the buildup in one and the climax in the other. It's like a comedian doing 2 standup shows: in one he has the set-ups, and in the other he has all the punchlines

And let's face it, books adaptation where never the strong suit of Hollywood to begin with. Yet, I think I will watch the part 2 WITHOUT watching part 1. I didn't watch it and came see the honest trailer because I pretty much knew it was going to suck hard, the first part of the book is already dragging with angst, the book is only good because of the "second part", so it was a given it was going to be terrible. The worst part is that not only apparently they had to stock a lot of filler into this movie, the second "part" is kind of shorter (it is more action oriented, so while in a book it takes more space, in a movie it's smaller), so I am guessing .... more filler time.

Carlos Gallon (Grnvolpe) You should read the book, it is really a great society critique, specially the first and last. The Peta annoyance is waaay down (while still bad in this first part of book 3, but in the book it actually makes more sense). Probably the best book (that was adapted) lately. The first book is adapted almost word by word into the first movie, very few details were removed, nothing changed. Second movie started the shitfest of changing the book, Third movie .. well, the honest trailer tells it all (BTW Katniss does not down those fighters into the hospital on the book, wth was that? the whole hospital attack was a ploy to drag Katniss to the war, but from those seconds on this trailer I can see they derailed hard form the book). Anyway, you are totally right about the standup show, book 3 part 1 is all about them trying to convince Katniss to join the fight (and they use Peta for that, thus why he is important here), but it falls apart if you remove the actual CONSEQUENCE of that, which is the rest of the book. Alas, I won't even watch part 1, will skip to part 2.

And I have thus far been severely dissapointed in most of the films (although the second one slightly lived up to expectations so again I really hoped the third one would fully live up to them). Idk, I remember loving the begining of Mockingjay up to about the last 25% of the book, so this was kind of a big chunk of the part I enjoyed and yet...I hated every moment of it on screen...I really just can't expect better at this point, because the next movie will be showing the part I absolutely hated in the book. *shrug*

execrante Actually, I felt UP could have been edited. If they had cut out the whole section in the beginning where he is growing up and married, and the death, etc. the film looses nothing. The director should give the the info we need, to tell the story. And everything in that aging montage, was given afterward. We see the empty chair, the pin, the scrapbook, the photos, etc. We do not need to sit through all the aging stuff. The worst film for this was the 3 hour Hulk film. Where all the flashbacks were repeated over and over, and then played out again at the end. The film could have started with Nick Noltie and his dogs looking up at Bruce's window (about 1 hour in.).
