    I would have loved to see the part of the movie where Batman's painting the bridge, just humming idly to himself and messing around with different voices.

    The final shooting script features several deleted/extended scenes not found in the film. Most are "character moments" though some also clarify details of the plot. They include: A longer opening scene and introduction to Bane, where the character gives a speech espousing his ideology which echos that of Ra's Al Guhl in Batman Begins (2005); A longer speech by the Mayor, explaining the powers of the Dent Act and an elaborate police search for Batman which drove Bruce Wayne into exile; A scene at Wayne Manor where the Congressman tells Foley that he's next in line for the role of Police Commissioner, setting up the conflict between Gordon and Foley and Foley's obsession with arresting Batman for the murder of Harvey Dent; A conversation between Miranda & Daggett where she refers to the false power of his wealth, hinting at her true identity as Talia; A conversation between the two thugs that capture Commissioner Gordon where they debate killing him before taking him to Bane (explaining how Gordon learned Bane's name) A scene at Wayne Enterprises where Miranda warns Lucius Fox that Daggett is trying to take control of the company; A longer scene of Bruce Wayne and Lucius Fox at the Applied Sciences warehouse. Fox gives Wayne the special leg brace which allows him to walk again. Their conversation also establishes that while the Applied Sciences equipment and weaponry is kept "off the books," the warehouse is not. This explains how Bane knows the location of the armory, as its location had not changed since the events of Batman Begins (2005); A longer conversation between Batman and Gordon in the hospital. Gordon warns Batman that the truth about Harvey Dent will eventually be uncovered sending the city into upheaval; A scene between Selina and Jen at their apartment implying they are both prostitutes, and that Selina is instructing Jen how to be a thief to get out of the hooker lifestyle; Scenes of Bruce Wayne trailing Selina to Miranda Tate's costume party; Bruce testing the leg brace in the Batcave, explaining to Alfred how it works to match the muscle patterns of his uninjured leg; A much longer scene outside the stock exchange and a lengthy chase scene between Bane, the police and Batman where they race around Gotham. The trimming of these scenes accounts for the somewhat abrupt day-to-night shift in the final film; An argument in the Batcave between Bruce and Alfred revealing that Bruce bought up all the land and homes surrounding Wayne Manor to prevent anyone from seeing him coming and going as Batman; An extended, much more heated confrontation between Bruce and Alfred. Alfred threatens to leave Wayne Manor if Bruce continues as Batman and Bruce argues that since Rachel Dawes's death, Batman is his only reason to live. Alfred confesses that he burned Rachel's letter and lied about her choosing to marry Bruce. Bruce accuses Alfred of betrayal before Alfred gives his speech about protecting Bruce's life, which does appear in the final film; A longer conversation between Bruce, Miranda & Fox discussing the reactor and Dr. Pavel; An extended conversation between Bruce & Blake where Blake warns Bruce that others will eventually figure out Batman's true identity. Blake also jokingly gives Bruce cash for cab fare. A longer scene in Gordon's hospital room. Gordon orders Foley to focus on capturing Bane, not Batman, then promotes Blake from beat cop to detective. A slightly longer love scene between Bruce and Miranda where she explains her scar--the same as Bane's--resulted from a mistake in her past; A speech by Bane when he delivers Bruce to the Pit Prison, explaining how hope is the cause of despair; A scene of Blake telling Gordon and Foley that Bane may have killed Batman. Foley then apologizes to Blake for not listening to him sooner. A conversation between Blake and Gordon where Blake plots out all of Daggett's construction work on a map of Gotham City before he confronts the construction workers; A much extended scene of Bane storming Blackgate Prison. Bane burns a picture of Harvey Dent and explains that Dent became the villain Two-Face after his injuries and encourages the city's poor to attack the wealthy and powerful before he destroys Blackgate, releasing all the inmates; A brief scene of Selina escaping Blackgate; An expanded conversation in the Pit between Bruce, his Prisoner caretaker and the blind prison doctor establishing that Bruce's back is -not- broken, but that he has a dislocated vertebrae. The Prisoner also explains the significance of Bane's mask as a painkiller delivery system; A scene of Bruce gathering supplies in the Pit as he prepares to climb out without the rope; A brief conversation between Fox and Bruce establishing that he purposely hid The Bat under camouflage on a rooftop instead of the Batcave to prevent Bane from finding it; A series of extended or omitted scenes showing how the city reacts to the burning Bat-signal on Gotham Bridge. Most significantly, Bane's army of mercenaries begins to panic and is demoralized; An extended battle outside City Hall. Bane orders his men not to attack Batman, determined to fight him alone; An extensive flashback sequence after Batman defeats Bane. Bane confesses that his devotion to Ra's Al Guhl stems from the League of Shadows rescuing him from the pit. A flashback scene then shows Ra's Al Guhl training Bane, who he has provided with a crude prototype mask to numb his pain; A scene of Talia openly taking charge of the League of Shadows to form a convoy to detonate the neutron bomb. She then floods the reactor core and, as in the film, Fox tries to escape, though even the finished scenes of fox in the film occur earlier in the script version; A longer argument between Blake and the Army blockade on Gotham Bridge. Blake argues with the commanding officer, trying to convince him that Batman has returned and battle has broken out in the city streets. In the script, after Batman harnesses the bomb to The Bat, he's never seen again--The Bat simply flies out to sea and the bomb detonates. The scene of Fox and the technicians examining the autopilot of The Bat then follows, with Fox realizing that Batman had ejected before the bomb detonated, and that Bruce Wayne must have survived the explosion. Source: IMDB I know a lot of you won't read this because it is very long but it sort of fills some plot holes.

    Sounds like the full length film with all these scenes would be 3.5 hours long, which would be awesome and would rank this film up near the Dark Knight. I say they should've cut some subplot with Foley, he was pretty unnecessary and the police who chased Batman can be just a random guy, I can buy that.

    The so-called "plot hole" that drives me the craziest, is when people say "how did he get back with no money?" That's all he did for YEARS after he left gotham, wander the earth with no resources! Why should he "suddenly" have trouble getting back?! But then if people can't understand that he stayed retired for 8 years because he could do more good by staying away, or that his fight in these movies was specifically with the "gotham mafia" rather than the idea of crime as a whole; then you can't really expect them to understand much.

    Let's take a look at some of the supposed 'Plot Holes' in this film.. "Why does no one notice that Bruce wayne is in a Cafe when he's supposed to be dead?" Okay, so, what would the Media focus more on? The fact that a Nuke was detonated right next to Gotham, or some not very rich guy died? The first one. Also, "Why does Bane keep the city alive for 3 months? Why doesn't he just detonate the nuke?" Okay, Bane wants people to feel the pain that he felt in that hole, the pain of hope, that's why he uses the hole, it is such an effective torture, the fact that freedom is so tantalisingly close, but impossible to achieve, he doesn't only want to end Gotham, he wants to crush them.

Most certainly Bane caused his spine damage and two or more vertebrae moved, creating something blocking his back. It happens. And it must be VERY painful.

    Batman and Bruce Wayne dying on the exact same day is not that revealing. For one, dozens and dozens of rich people were murdered/executed during Bane's reign. Secondly, Bruce Wayne was not as famous after disappearing for so long, so more attention would be on the rich, more famous Gothamites (or, you know, the nuke that went off over the bay). Third, in the chaos that filled Gotham, it could be easily explained that he was murdered by some random criminal. Fourth, tons of people died on the day of the battle, so he could have been one of them. Fifth, the public could never know what exact day Bruce Wayne died on - maybe they just waited to have the funeral until the terrorists had left the city. I could continue, but I feel it's unnecessary.

    Ryan Cora 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5: Bruce is the CEO of the largest company in Gotham. Given what was going on at the time, people would have either been interested in his whereabouts or too preoccupied with the lock down. In my experience journalists don't rest until they have the full story, and most of them have a sixth sense for a story that doesn't coagulate.. 3: Neither Bane nor Talia would have let some random criminal kill Batman/Bruce. These guys are executing the big wigs left and right while Bruce was shanked by a mugger? Normal civilians maybe, but I don't think any of the other rich folk of Gotham went out like that. I imagine most of them held up in some secret bunker or something. Correct me if I'm wrong of course.

I don't know what your experience is, but I doubt it has anything to do with supercriminal terrorists threatening your city of two million with a nuclear bomb. 3: Um, I dunno. In the beginning of Bane's reign, it showed lots of the rich being murdered, I doubt that they would have time to regulate every murder. Also, some of the rich were killed in court. Bane and Talia, of course, would have given _no_ attention to Bruce because they knew he was gone, so it _would_ be more reasonable to assume he just died than that he was Batman.

  • @AdonanS

    @AdonanS

    Eight years? When the heck did that happen? I thought he was gone three months. Secondly, I think you're underestimating Bane and Talia. They know what Bruce is capable of so they would have kept one eye on the destruction of Gotham and one on Bruce's return, and by, "in my experience" I meant from what I've seen and heard over my life. Bane and Talia didn't just plan on holding cutting off Gotham from the rest of the world, they planned on destroying it. This would have ended one way or another, and one way or another someone is going to be to noisy for their own good.

    Are you kidding me? The only way someone can like Adam West Batman is due to nostalgia alone, otherwise it's a grueling viewing experience. And as for the Schumacher films, those films are abominations to the character of Batman and are completely unwatchable, especially Batman & Robin. You mean to tell me that The Dark Knight Rises is worse than bat-nipples?! Really?

  • @1krani

    @1krani

    9 жыл бұрын

    Miroslav Gnjatovic Yes, yes it was. Because Batman & Robin doesn't try to pretend that it's any less stupid than it is. Dark Knight Rises thinks it's intelligent, which makes it bad in the bad way, as opposed to bad in the "Look at him and laugh" way. And, aneurysm-inducing movie aside, the Adam West TV series was actually pretty good. It was really bright and Silver Age-ish, but some of the plans those villains hatched were pretty diabolical. Hell, Vincent Price's character figured out Batman's secret identity through logical deduction, and UNLIKE Dark Knight Rises, it doesn't make Batman look like a idiot, rather it makes Vincent Price look even more awesome, were that possible. So, no, I don't like Adam West's movie, but I'm a huge fan of the TV series in all its goofy, Silver Age glory.

    I'm gonna have to disagree with Honest Trailers on this movie. "Why did he reveal identity to complete strangers?" - Because Robin already figured it out "Conduct background checks on maids and board members" - He actually does after that scene, he hasn't run the company for 8 years so why would he do background check on board members? "Use ineffective gadgets" - They're only ineffective against other shadow legion members "Why did Bruce Wayne show up in french cafe after being pronounced dead?" - Because he wanted to fulfill Alfred's dream "How did Batman eject and swim to survive if he only had 5 seconds? - He fixed the autopilot so he must've jumped out way before 5 seconds but to make us think he died they showed a shot with 5 seconds remaining "Didn't anyone think it was weird Bruce Wayne and Batman died on same day?" - Lots of people died on that day, I think it was believable. Besides, not many people knew him very well and the ones that did knew his identity.

    frozenkiller7 Dude, I've been steadily consuming batman comics since before I could walk and that doesn't bother me even a little. Although, as I said, it makes subtle nods to the comics all over the place. It's one thing if you don't like it, but choosing to do something different from the comics doesn't make it a bad movie. It's consistent to itself, and that's what really matters. As for whether or not it's stupid popcorn, it would be pretty dumb of me to go into some long explanation of why I don't think it is when I don't even know why you do.

I honestly like when they mix it up a little and don't give us the SAME exact thing we've been reading, watching and nerding about since we could even say the word "BATMAN" but honestly this wasn't a very good movie to me.. i didn't like the progression the 10 minutes of action and the fact that through the majority of the beginning it was kind of a snore-fest. Now "Dark-Knight" was awesome. Had me on the edge through most of the movie because for once in this trilogy they made u REALLY interested in the villain. you couldnt even care less about his back story. he was just awesome and entertaining. Bane sucked in my opinion :/. But Twas a good movie just wasn't WOW good or "i'm gonna watch it again" good.

    What the hell does the amount of comics you've read have to do with the actual movie? Getting rid of the fact that TDKR's Bane has nothing to do with bane, ignoring the fact that Batman has more to do with Master Chief than Batman, Forgetting about how every single character or interpretation is just barely the same as the comics were, that doesn't excuse the film for being generic. But even if, even if you want to get into the "faithfulness" of the movies, you'd still be wrong. TDKR has NOTHING to do with it's source material, and the entire film series should be flat out ashamed to even call itself The Dark Knight, as if any accumulation of "realistic" and "serious" pandering to the masses can somehow save the the movies from the inevitable comparison to THE best Batman story ever told. This is not the Dark Knight. This is not THE Dark Knight. And this CERTAINLY is not the Dark Knight Rises Its not even a bad movie, its just painfully stale. It goes through the motions we all expect. And that's why people love it. That's why now in 2014 there are so many "fans" of Batman. That's why we have "real fans" who have to somehow prove their worth to the franchise by saying how many comic books they read. It doesn't matter. The Dark Knight Rises is only successful because it panders to the most basic denominator

    I love the redlettermedia guys, but to be fair the Dark Knight has just as many plotholes. Like how did three ferrys depart without anyone noticing the dozens of explosives on board in the open? How did the bus at the beginning of the movie get away when there were SO MANY witnesses? How did Batman digitally recreate a fingerprint on the bullet? Why didn't they blame the death of Harvey Dent on the Joker instead if Batman? Not hating on the Dark Knight or anything, its still great

    The reason why this movie has so many plotholes and seems rushed is probably because Christopher Nolan didn't even want to do it. Especially after Heath Ledger's death. He had ideas for two movies and then was practically pushed into doing a third one, becauss Warner Brothers needed his name on the entire trilogy.

  • @spencermalley10

    That is literally too stupid for words. There is no evidence whatsoever to suggest that Chris Nolan was "pushed" into making a third Batman movie. If he didn't want to make it, He wouldn't have made it, simple as that.

    Spencer Malley There were never any plans for the third movie the way we saw it and he wanted to leave it at two movies after Heath died. When I say pushed, I obviously don't mean that he was forced to do it, but he was reluctant and Warner Brothers most likely solved the problem with looots of money.

    This is Nolan's batman, he wanted it to be more realistic and dark, which is why i like it, it works. How stupid would it be if you see bane is fighting batman, and bane is a giant wearing a bane mask with pipes all over his back, have you seen how stupid bane looks in the 1997's batman & robin? Okay it works in the comics but not on the big screen and nolan did a good job converting that.

    I don't know who doesn't love this film, it was amazing, Bane was amazing, stop mentioning Joker everytime, Heath did a good job but the movie didn't depend solely on him, i liked the first movie of the trilogy too, it had a darker tone, unlike the previous Batman movies and Nolan chose a thrilling script, it doesn't have to be copy-paste from the comics, Bale did a good job as batman, so did Ledger, Hardy and Neeson as his villians, it was the best trilogy of a superhero ever put to the big screen, even better than the whole Marvel movies. Marvel movies are fun to watch of course but they have no interesting plot whatsoever or memorable villians, and pls don't tell me you can compare Loki to Joker or Bane, + all Marvel movies depend only on CGI and visual effects, TDK trilogy on the other hand is all about storyline and lessons

    Air Siren In the first Batman Begins, Bruce needs to stop his master who taught him how to fight, he should stop a maniac who is terrorizing the whole city too, in Dark Knight he faces and extremly intelligent twisted villian like Joker who breaks him mentally, causes more panic, kills the girl he loves without being able to save her and he is forced to break his only rule, not to kill someone, furthermore the person he kills is his friend, he breaks the leg in the process and he is hated by everyone after that. in Dark Knight Rises after 7 years living alone hidden from the outside world and being hated he gets to face an even stronger enemy than him, gets his parents house burned to the ground, gets his spine broken and he then suffers in a pit which happens to be a prison while he watches how Gotham falls and criminals cause mayham, he trains with a broken leg and spine and still goes back to save Gotham only to understand that the woman he started to love was the mastermind behind all the chaos, he still gets a knife on the back but he manages to save Gotham once more playing with death when he drops the bomb. Now pls tell me how Tony Stark or the others face such difficulties, Tony is billionare like Batman but he uses his money to have fun too, he gets drunk and acts like a stupid fuck sometimes, he likes fame and attention and his armor is pretty strong, with guns and rockets and he can fly, Captain America suffered more than the others but hey, he is an OP soldier whom steriods made him godlike, bullets can't sop him, he is fast, strong and has S.H.I.E.L.D agents who help him a lot all the time, his shield made by Tony is unstopabble too, Thor is an OP God who is literally unstoppable, he is a God, he is strong, he controls thunder and his hammes is the strongest weapon ever, he gets to rule another planet, Hulk is OP of course, he is infinitely strong because he gets stronger everytime he gets angrier, steroids made him a beast, he is a scientist and in the end, he always win. How is Batman a God who controls thunder and has legendary weapons, how can he get angrier and stronger, how does he have a shield bulletproof to everything, is he under steroids and can stop bullets with his skin, does his armor make him shoot rockets, bullets and fly out of space, do some skilled agents or OP friends help him when he needs most? Nope, he is just a trained human without superpowers, steroids, legendary weapons or armor whose strongest weapons are his iron will and his determination.

    I did the same but strangely my conclusion is different. The first film is a mess and Gotham is a totally different place - its a fantasy/futuristic gotham with slums/favelas that oddly dissapear in thevother films. The city transforms into a much more realistic, NY/Chicago hybrid Gotham in 2 and 3. Also too well lit, dodgy special effects, iffy plot and a poor villian. It's more like the other Batmans before it and looks dated. Parts two and three however slot together nicely.

    Well, that goes without saying. They probably wanted to get at the stuff that wasn't as obvious with how bad it was.

    Dude, bane's death was even worst. Especially that cheesy line Catwoman said afterwords. Oh god it was awful.

    I rewatched this recently. I still found the film way too long. The middle act in particular drags so much, basically killing time while the bomb degrades, and then mid-way through Bruce's stint in the "hellish prison," the film's pace suddenly goes into overdrive.

    The main reason i rewatch this movie is for Bane. I love Bane.
