    The government wanting his suit makes sense because its showing the repercussions of revealing your superhero identity. Him giving the company to pepper and being drunk was because he was dying and wanted to do as much as he could before he died, he could have stopped Rhodey from getting away but he let him go because he trusts him with his tech.

    In regards to Rhodey, I think Honest Trailers was referring to how he knew how to fly and shoot repulsors, after Tony spent the first movie smacking into walls and being extinguished by his robots. Also if Rhodey hadn't had the exact same body shape as Tony, the armor would have snapped his limbs the first time he flexed, because his joints wouldn't have been in the same position as the armors. Unless Tony had already made the suit able to adapt for multiple users.

  • @WhiteDaoist

    @WhiteDaoist

    7 жыл бұрын

    @mca mac: Not multiple users, but Tony apparently let Rhodey fly off with the suit on purpose. If that's the case then it stands to reason that that suit was meant to be given to Rhodey in the first place, with joints matching to his build.

    I'm glad I didn't watch this before watching iron man 2. Even though this honest trailer was funny I found iron man 2 to be surprisingly fun to watch. However this honest trailer forgot to mention that Tony stark not only whips up a particle accelerator using only parts he had lying around his house, by himself and creates a new element all within the space of an afternoon. That part had me saying what the hell, there are scientists that spend their entire careers trying to create new elements and some chump in a movie pulls it off while barely breaking a sweat.

    Timeyin Sholaye It is indeed true that iron man as franchise takes a very liberal slant on science. And generally that doesn't detract from the fun for me. However in Iron Man 2 it just seemed to happen a little too easily for me. Perhaps if he broke into a facility that already had a particle accelerator set up and had access to data that was way beyond the reach of regular scientists, something more than a clue gleamed from his papa's design of the stark expo layout. From what I can gather the story writers want to hint that the structure of that new element is related to the tesseract from capt'n america and it would be a cool cross over strand but somehow they way they executed left me unsatisfied.

  • @DarkNaifu

    Timeyin Sholaye Don't make it sound like he turned dust into body armor. He was supposed to be building weapons, which means he had the tools to build the suit. The only thing that Stark did that was unbelievable, was build a source of clean energy and then compress it to the size of a soda can.

    Come on this film introduced War Machine, talked a lot about Stark's alcoholism, dealt with the fact that he wasn't able to save himself this time despite being essentially the smartest man alive, and dealing with more personal issues such as his problems with his father and trying to find a real love before he goes. Plot wasn't the best, but it was definitely a fun ride, especially the fight between Rhodes and Stark and then their team-up. plus the introduction of Black Widow was awesome! IDK Why this film is considered so bad. Sure it wasn't as good as the first one but I think it's pretty good. I re-watch more often than most other Phase 1 movies besides the first Iron Man XD

    +Brandon Manary you basically stated my reasons for liking it. its definitely not as good as the first, mostly because the plot was so "meh," but it did bring up some good character development for Iron Man and to that end i felt it was necessary. this movie isn't that bad. i think the reason everybody talks this one down more than it deserves is because we have a higher standard for Marvel. although i hope they're not as mediocre with a sequel to Guardians.

    Just to let people know around here about the element which tony creates with help of his father's design is totally logical because after Captain America get's frozen and when Sr. Stark searches for him he finds Tesseract and then he has spend his a lot of amount of time to study Tesseract. Then he somehow implement the atomic structure of the Tesseract on that Estate design he gives to Tony as "Key to the future". That element which Tony creates is actually the same element by which Tesseract is created and this is also why in Avengers when Loki tries to control the mind of Tony by his scepter it simply doesn't work. Because his scepter was also powered by the energy of same Tesseract. :)

    Witness Iron Man go up against disappointing mid-trilogy villains like: Whiplash, a russian inventor and B-list Iron Man villain so generic, he could have been swapped out for either Crimson Dynamo or Titanium Man and it would barely make a difference; Justin Hammer, a completely unsuccessful business rival with terrible technology who basically just exists as a boost to get the main villain into the climax; and Senator Stern, a villain with such little reason to be a villain, they had to make him a Hydra agent in Captain America: The Winter Soldier to retroactively justify him being a dick.

    +GdoubleWB Whiplash should have (barely) survived that explosion and returned in Iron Man 3 AS Crimson Dynamo, not the bio-dragon-people. Justin hammer is there to add another personality as bombastic as Tony, essentially tony without the humility. He is a boost, he gives Vanko the resources to add injury to insult and actually tear down Iron Man's legacy. Senator Stern is a politician, he'll do anything to get re-elected or promoted, including securing the Iron Man technology for the government, that's a fast track to the top.

    I agree this is not as good as the first Iron Man, but I liked the 3D holograms. I think the only reason that the first one seemed to be so grounded in reality in terms of technology - despite the fact that there's a mobile exosuit, sonic killing device, and an arc reactor - was because The Dark Knight was THE comic book movie that set the bar for all future comic book movies at the time.

  • @bigk9000

    Agreed, but what I meant by technology that was grounded in reality was technology that currently exists in the real world, although the exo-suit does technically exist and from what I understand the US military is currently working on a prototype, but the practicality of its miniaturized self-sustaining power source is.

  • @bigmattman2005

    @bigmattman2005

    10 жыл бұрын

    Well, the "technobabble" yes. However, the technology is pretty darn close to reality. With Exoskeleton (military), jet packs / hovercraft technology (albeit MUCH louder than Iron Man), and military weaponry, Iron Man isn't exactly a farfetched idea. However, logically, Iron Man is so flawed that the time, effort, and money dumped into the suit would be such a waste for many reasons: 1.) Being computer controlled, the suit could easily be hacked/shut down by anyone; 2.) With no stealth properties, it's just a walking/flying billion dollar target practice. 3.) Having this technology back in the 1940s-1970s would have been ingenious (merely for the technology, not for actual use as THE Iron Man) and MAYBE have done some good for the wars, but now it's just useless as a handful of WWII aircraft could destroy it.

    Lets not forget Marvel still has a way better track record than DC when it comes to live action movies. Man of Steel? Batman Forever? Batman and Robin? The old Superman Movies (a lot of people like the first two, but not me)? Green Lantern? Meanwhile Marvel can still be mostly counted on to deliver the goods.

  • @iluvdrakeandjosh

    @iluvdrakeandjosh

    10 жыл бұрын

    Barry Gormley Marvel only recently got into the big movie business so they don't really have a better track record. DC has been putting out TONS of movies for decades under one license. Not like Fantastic four, spiderman, xmen and everything else under the sun being owned by many different studios. Some are good and hold up, some are dated, some are downright bad, but it's not an abundance of bad by any means. And out of the Marvel movies that have been released the only ones that have gotten critical acclaim were Iron Man 1, The Avengers, and Captain America 2. The others have middle-range ratings because they're alright movies. Not amazing but not absolute shit either. Not saying that DC hasn't been fucking up lately, because they have very badly, but DC has basically been on top for decades. And Marvel has finally pulled ahead in the race (which is exciting and makes for good competition and good movies if DC could get their shit together). Main Point: I trust them to put out serviceable movies, and maybe we'll get an amazing one every once in a while, unlike DC which can range from Dark Knight amazing to Green Lantern bad lately.

    IMortalHHD ALex I liked IM2 too. It had a consistent tone of maroon sadness, and Downey played it very well. Even in this trailer you can see it on his face when he's changing the corroded batteries that are poisoning him. Tony knows he is dying, and it's heartbreaking to watch him struggle with it. Scarlett as Natasha struck a perfect balance of beauty and sadness, and she wasn't even impressed with Tony Stark; she was unobtainable. Casting Garry Shandling was inspired, and he was perfect. Jon Favreau did a lot with the under-developed Happy Hogan. The plot wasn't great, but the mood was very appropriate for the second film of a trilogy. Even his Silver Centurion (suitcase) armor seemed sadder and less jaunty than the red and gold suits. This movie had artistic value, and I'm not sure if I feel that way about IM3.

    +SAGE It's like you didn't even read my comment. I wrote a _lot_ about the actors, and a little bit about the look of the film. Of course, it matters for a film to _look_ good, and I think IM2 does. But it's got a lot more going for it than that. Hell, I forgot to even mention Sam Rockwell. He was awesome too, and, once I got used to the actor-switch for Rhodey, Don Cheadle was damn good, too.

  • @BenCulture

    @BenCulture

    +SAGE Well, that's bizarre. Why wouldn't you take a person's word at face value, when they're sharing their opinion on a movie? Visual effects? Aside from the self-assembling suitcase armor, I remember nothing special about the visual effects. They were perfectly adequate, but nothing like "Wow, I can't believe I just saw that", like in the Avengers films. If I was in love with IM2's visual effects, I would have said exactly that.

    I'm enjoying watching all the Marvel films again on Disney+. You'd think from this HT that the film was completely abysmal...but it's actually pretty good. Quite nice to have a change of pace and have some more introspection in a film. The committee heroes do not take up that much run time (rather like the Star Wars prequels, where it's present but people pretend like they are the entire films), and they are plot relevant.

    "I want my bird." That line, for no reason whatsoever, was turned into a running gag in the German dub when Whiplash, in a bad Russian accent, keeps saying "Ich will meinen Vugel" ("foo-gle" instead of the correct pronunciation "foe-gle").

    Rockwell wasn't poorly utilized, he was brilliantly utilized. He played the Lex Luthor-style brainy, suited villain, a classic traditional villain played to a tee in this movie with brilliantly written and delivered dialogue.

    His character was excellent and the portrayal even more so I agree, but I personally would've loved to see more of him going head to head with Tony instead of him using Vanko, except for the scene in court they didn't really interact that much with I think is a mega missed opportunity

    B3ansGuy I love his character because its so rare to see a movie where the villain is incompetent. Imo incompetence paired with endless resources, power, and a sour personality can be even more dangerous than a smart villain who can keep control over their plan.

    But this movie has set up one of the best lines in my opinion. Whiplash says, “If you can make God bleed, the people will cease to believe in him.” In Infinity War, Thanos says, “All that for a drop of blood.”

    We must be in the minority. While some of their criticisms are indeed valid - specifically the whole Car Ramming of Whiplash XP - but overall the movie wasn't bad. Better than the first one? Not really. About as good. A lot of people have problems with Iron Man 3 as well, yet I didn't have much of a problem with that movie as well. Again, they had valid criticisms - mostly in the fact how Stark never used all his armors until the VERY end and WHY he blew them up - but even still: That movie wasn't a BAD movie. Best of the Marvel Movies? Hardly. But it isn't even the worse.

    Kojin MacJorn you're totally wrong. Iron Man 3 was a BAD movie! I like the line in this Honest Trailer, "Someone gets paid to write this stuff?" Valid nitpicks on Iron Man 2, but I recall it being somewhat entertaining to watch. However, Iron Man 3 was a ridiculous waste of my money and time. It's pretty much the case with all blockbusters now, sigh.

    I actually just finished watching all seasons of game of thrones and so, why did Arya? Aryanna? IDK the younger stark sister, why did she go north? Did she go north, I didn't get that part. and who the fuck is dany? since lord balish married sansa's aunt, wouldn't that make sansa and balish insest?

  • @ellerymerrilycelery

    @ellerymerrilycelery

    peoplemcnuggetz Spoilers here for game of thrones season 1-4! don't click 'read more' unless you want to be spoiled! Arya didn't go north, she went to Braavos. She went because that's where her sword teacher was from, and the assassin bloke was from there, too. Dany is Daenerys, the lady with the three dragons. And no, the marriage between Baelish and Sansa's aunt would make Baelish the uncle of Sansa and Arya. It would be incest if Baelish had sex with Sansa, and there may be a good chance of that, since he likes her :/ gross.
