It's so cool that even Lord and Miller initially said the Spot was too silly to be the main villain. But then they thought about it and realized that it was the point of the character to not be taken seriously at first and then be a gradual threat. And it was executed brilliantly.

Thank you. Due to the story's tone, that's the reason I wasn't suprised when Spot was the main villain.

It’s not really gradual he’s incompetent at the start. In mumbattan he’s just running away and then he turns into a god level omnipotent being 5 mins later. Not to say that takes away from the movie I just think they were going for a character that juxtaposes himself from the start hence the inverted colours and new art style for him

It's funny that Epic Voice Guy mentioned Japanese Spider-Man not being in Across the Spider-Verse because back when this movie was still in development, Lord and Miller stated he would appear in the sequel. I’m so sorry to hear about the artists’ working conditions that forced them to quit. I love Miles’ Spidey to death and was awestruck by, at the same time worried because of, the sheer scale and power of the production. I was only hoping they were taken care off. Because it was 4 years in the making, I thought maybe this is safe. But now, I’m very conflicted because I’m thankful for everyone. So not getting good treatments for your artistic contributions and endeavours is just 😢

Worse still, it was dangling in front of us even before the story came out. The reported budget was $100 million which, even accounting for some tech developed for the first movie making the workflow easier, was suspiciously low for a movie of much bigger scope and ambition than the first (reported cost: 90 million). Which means they may have rather squeezed out the people they had.

Most of the art choices absolutely SCREAMED imitating what they were applauded for in the first one and going OVERBOARD. They even forgot what the point behind having miles low frame rate was...because in this movie everyone is low frame rate. It was a cute way to show inexperience in the first movie...but is it implying that everyone is incompetent in the second? Lord and Miller have achieved the impossible with this sequel and raised the bar even higher and the craziest part is that it, of course, doesn't stop there. I think most of us can relate to beginning/planning a really ambitious creative project only for it too not meet expectation because of said ambitions being too high This movie basically just goes to show that it can be done with a great amount of patience and talent and the whole team are amazing for reaching the end goal.
