I rode a cb750 hornet for an obligatory riders course here in Sweden and was positively surprised by how good it sounded for a stock exhaust! (even made it pop once lol) with my limited experience riding (regularly practice with a cb650) it felt pretty tourqey and handled very smoothly. I hope they make more bikes with this engine!

When I started riding, ot was on a CBF 125 and afterwards I switched to the Transalp XL 650. I loved the bike for it's comfort and reliability but it was too tall and heavy for me so I sold it again. Some years later I bought a CBR 250r with some technical issues very cheap which I repaired and the funny thing is I feel much better on the CBR 250r and ride it for many years now. It is so easy to ride... just like the CBF 125. The thing is the new transalp, especially in this colour, looks really awesome. Maybe I try one by the time you get them used (at about 100.000km the prices start to get interresting).
Really appreciate your demonstration of the low rev, small throttle opening fuelling in the commuting section. You can hear that it's not too bad. Great review as usual. BTW, the Metzeler Karoo, also oem are much better than the Dunlops, still street orientated but good.

Thank you, Schaff. I really appreciate your comments and opinions of the TransAlp. I just bought one today. Traded in my Ducati Scrambler. This bike will just take me farther and is much more versatile. I agree with you on many points - it's a tad dull, especially the styling as compared to the Tenere. For a daily commuter and for something that I will take on overnight camping trips, this was certainly the most practical for me. And, in the US, you can't beat the price. I think the engine and gears are just buttery smooth. Is it the most exciting bike around? Not even close. But, for a 53-year-old dude, this is a bike that I will spend many, many hours on. Prost!
Thank you! ❤

Hello there. Thanks for including slow (also known as "legal") speed test and comments. It's cool to know that a bike is a blast to thrash around on nice free mountain roads, but what is that worth if it's unbearable the other 85% of the time when the road conditions require you to ride "slow". It's sad to say, but these days I have two criteria to choose a bike : that it is fun in the twisties (which is why I ride) and that it behaves in town at 30-50 kph (which is what I have to do a lot before reaching said twisties). Not obvious to fulfil these days with injection, poor fuel and severe emission restrictions. Anyway, as usual thanks for the great quality video and comments!

such a lovely sound, stock exhaust? Im considering this model versus BMW 750/850 gs , any tips?
@Schaaf
8 ай бұрын
yes. In my eyes the 850 GS might be better but it's a soulless piece of engineering. One of the few bikes I don't like.
That Trans need 3 things, front and rear suspension upgrades and without a doubt a much shorter gear ratio, like a 2 tooth bigger sprocket rear sprocket and the front one reduced 1 tooth in the size. It will be a proper character for this bike. Cheers.

sounds very nice - and some great information to go on with. Thank you. Like Suzuki's 800DE, Honda's new Transalp has ride by wire but no cruise control. They are basically lovely tourers, potentially high kilometre travel bikes. No cruise control (or at least option of CC) in this day and age is like having a car without air conditioning. Ridiculous and silly management decision. Non tubeless wheels are a fail for me as well.

I sat on this bike a few weeks ago at the only Honda Bigbike dealer in my place. I must admit at first look, if you do not look at the name, I would have mistaken it to be a 750cc variant of Honda's CBX lineup of adventure bikes. This could have easily been the Honda CB750X. 😎

It seems like in a lot of your videos you lean your bike very low, but not really lean with your body. Is there a reason for this? Leaning further often means higher risk, but its also obvious that you know exactly what you're doing. Genuine question coming from a beginner rider.
@Schaaf
9 ай бұрын
keeping your body neutral gives you a better point of view (your head is higher compared to hangoff) and you're slightly faster to react when having to adjust your riding line unexpectedly. Since the lean angles I'm riding are nowhere close to the actual limit of the bike there's no need to reduce them.
