Cause the engines are now turbocharged and don't have these crazy high redlines any more, now VTEC is used in the lower and the turbo in the higher rev range.

This might have educated me if I had any idea what all these terms mean. I'm just a guy with a childlike fascination for cars without knowing much about them, I don't even drive a car myself (yet). As long as they go fast and/or sound nice, I'm content. But thank you for the explanation anyway, I will try to deciphe rit now.

That would be appreciated. I do understand the concept of a turbocharger since I follow Formula 1 (if it works the same way in a Civic that is), but I don't know how that's related to "crazy high redlines" and "VTEC", both of which I have no clue about what they are or do :D And of course I'd be interested in learning why all these things change the sound.

For example, the Honda civic type R used the B16B engine which was reving past 8000 rpm the redline was at 8400 just the point you shouldn't rev the engine past to avoid damage. VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) just changes when and how far the inlet valve opens and closes to get a sufficient filling of the combustion chamber also at the higher rev range (where the window is much smaller of course). There's a sweet image here: www.carthrottle.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/VTEC-Sys.jpg A turbo sort of muffles the sound that comes both from the intake and the outlet as air has to flow through the compressor and the turbine making it sound heavier and less defined. Nope. In WTCC all car is 1.6l turbocharged.

its because they are L.E.D. I believe. which pulse and the frame rate of the camera misses some of the pulses causing it to look like they flash. but I could be wrong lol

This is correct. They are not actually flashing; they look just like normal modern LED headlights.
