If this was taken in 2018 then the Blackbird was already 22 year old technology. That's how good they were and still are. In Oz the Blackbird outsold everything by about 20 to 1. No other manufacturer in this class got a look in. My mechanic told me about one he serviced regularly with 450,000k's on it. Even today nothing is going to leave one of these behind by much.

I ride an immaculate 1997 Blackbird and I've gotta say, this is the most shocking dangerous piece of riding I've seen in some time. Putting not only urself but other people's life at risk, just sickeningly pointless.

I've been Blackbird rider for 17 years now. There's times and places to ride like a maniac, these guys will kill themselves and others if they ride like that.

I think this particular blackbird is carbureted as well so this was a 1996-1998 model. Honda did such a great job on these bikes

I break the speed limit all the time but, in this video, I believe you are having to rely on other road users for you not to be in an accident. Not a good thing. I believe that you should never put your life in anyone elses hands. I noticed that you were speeding through villages. You must have better reactions than me or you are a believer in fate. One person using those designated crossings or a person backing out of their driveway and you have no chance of avoiding them. Ok, you are rolling the dice, and that is your choice but I hope to never meet you coming the other way. I like taking risks, but only with my life and not anyone elses. Nice bike the Blackbird and as this video shows, like other 180mph bikes, still able to keep up with the latest in real world situations( of course the rider makes the biggest difference) Anyway, ride fast but safe my friend.

If u check the cars as well pushing in the village min 80km/h,this is romania.

I bought my blackbird with 0 history with hondas, had kawasakis and suzukis but i felt like trying a bigger more "mature" bike than the z1000 and gsxrs ive previously had. And i absolutely love it, even tho im just 33 years old and some may say the bike is for an older audience i just love being comfortable yet still smoke the R1s and Gsxrs like its nothing ;D

The Blackbird is an Awesome machine.Always will be.

Wood Wrecker r1 has pretty much same power in the upper rev range and is lighter. The power of the blackbird is in the torque it has in the entire rev range. Select any gear with pretty much any rpm and it has power available. That bike will pull in any gear. It is not 1997 anymore and the blackbird is not the fastest bike anymore, but it is impressive how broad that powerband is. Remember the bike in the vid has carbs! Great bike, sold mine 2 years ago and here i am watching blackbird vids again.

If anyone had doubts about a Blackbird, this was quite an advert of its abilities, and it's much more cumfy than the R1.

Would make more sense to leave his knee in, and get his upper body commited to the inside of the turn. Of course, he should do both! Saw a '57 R1 5 or 6 years ago, being a kawasaki fanatic, thought I would want that one, low seat, big back tyre, big engine, lovely. But how lucky was I? To out of nowhere, be the very happy owner of a' 05 GSF 650 Bandit, not even a Bandit S, wow, the most fun you can have on two wheels. Accelerates like it's falling off a cliff, red-lines at 12,000, any, any gear at 4,000 to 5k,not 1st gear, I guess that would put the rider on the back wheel, HATE WHEELIES, anywhere else 4 or 5k revs is like serious hyper bike performance, red-lines at 12,000. It is such joy always.

The BB puts the power down so well you can use it early much more, the R1 would wheelie with the same throttle application.

I had an 81 Suzuki GS1100EX...THANK YOU FOR THIS...SPEED WAS MAKING ME POWER MAD...IN CALIFORNIA...RUNNING FROM CHP(BAD BAD BOY) GOT ARRESTED @ GUN POINT TOO(NO...NOT proud either) but never did that again as well...😔) HOWEVER...MY FRIEND AND I TOURED FROM SO CAL THROUGH OREGON, WASHINGTON, MONTANA(Yes through Yellowstone (met a male ELK AND GLAD HE TURNED AROUND HIS RACK WAS THE BIGGEST I HAVE EVER SEEN TO THIS DAY!!!) WE HOT SEPARATED UNFORTUNATELY AT OLD FACEFULL HE WENT OUT THE WEST GATE AND I WENT OUT THE SOUTH GATE INTO UTAH SEEING THE GRAND TETONS ON THE WAY) OUTSTANDING RIDE...HE RODE AN KAWASAKI Z1E 900 which he got a new chain and sprockets matching my gear ratios close enough to stand the RPM noise difference to ride next to each other...man the gearing was 800-1200 RPM HIGHER THAN MINE...IT MADE MY EARS SING...I KNOW WHAT DOGS HEAR WHEN SIRENS GO OFF 2 or more...I heard why they howl...buzz up and down...whew!!!) After he changed everything...only 30 diff...ahhhhhh...not bad...humming not howling...THANKS WHOMEVER VIDEOED THIS...I KNOW HOW THOSE NEWER BIKES FLY...WOW!!!!

they are from eBay. don't remember the brand. the tubes are custom made from aluminum and they are pretty long. there are some lock stops on the fork to adjust how much to turn. but they are at minimum as i rearranged all the controls to have as much turn as possible

Do not try this at home kids. Racing on public roads is the quickest way to find that stairway to heaven. You can tell the R1 rider is trying to emulate his racing heroes eg, the leg out. On a racetrack he would be last, that is if he even made it to the finish.

I had a 99 blackbird, favorite bike, and I rode it like it was stolen. It's a big bike but is a perfect road weapon in the right hands. What was the bird waiting for? Plenty of chances to pass.

Birds came with combined braking system. They are a lot bigger than the VFR's though.

I used to ride an R1 & many bikes, this is why I do not ride anymore, I am older & wiser & have crashed at speed, wait till you crash when going at this speed & then you will realise the consequences of your actions bud.

Very good point. Came off my FJR1300 after Xmas 2018 and was extremely lucky. Had the rear end regained grip the bike (and I) would have gone over the side of a bridge onto the motorway below. So lucky to have been ejected off the bike and not hit anything. Had to walk a long way down the road to where the bike ended up, thank goodness I wasn't caught under the bike and dragged along, would have turned me to mince. Anybody who has been off a powerful bike learns respect and lives to ride another day. Greetings from Scotland

Yeah, and I came off my ZX-9R at about 135mph. Not my fault. That was on a racetrack. I would never go this fast on public motorways. I was out for 6 months until I slowly got my arm motion back somehow not to mention the fractured femur, ribs and shattered scapula.

R1 will have zero advantage over the Blackbird on a public road. The Blackbird's torque will be a good advantage. On the road the winner is always the one who doesn't care about dying.

The bird is a better all round bike.

Had the joy of being on the line at a traffic light with an R1 and Blackbird while on my 'lowly' 1998 GSX-R 750 SRAD Now I didn't expect to keep up with the R1 and when we gave them the beans at green, it stayed ahead and left me behind when I went from 2nd to 3rd gear But the BB was quite a disappointment, and it wasn't until I went to 4th gear that he managed to catch up with me but whereas I had the weight advantage (though this adds in difficulty keeping the front wheel down), he had the HP and torque advantage (at a lower RPM) and the longer wheelbase I'd expected it to get off the line a lot quicker than me ...of course doesn't change the fact that by the time I was in fourth gear, both of them were on their merry way leaving me in the dust

Guy on the R1 is an accident looking for a place to happen. Nice Blackbird though, might have to get another one.

Great bike, not so great riding. All it takes to be dead is someone to pull out of their driveway because when they last looked nothing was there, then you come by at enormous speed & plough right into them. I hope it never happens, but it is a strong possibility if you keep riding like this.

Both brilliant bikes but of the two I’d rather been onboard the Blackbird. I’m pretty sure that the guy piloting the R1 has a death wish, some of his overtakes especially on blind right handler were iffy to say the least.

Got enough keys on that key ring, I hope one of them is to unlock a new life because you are going to need more than one riding like that.
