looks like the slots on each side of the cat would be perfect for a saw zaw blade to access the pipe. id use the cat clamp (cable device) over this thing.

If you're talking about the heat shield then they would have to cut through the cat itself which would defeat the purpose of taking it in the first place.

Great question, I should have addressed this in the video. More and more smog stations are making an effort to use mirrors and flashlights to check cars under shields, if you’re going to run the center shield I would call a few smog shop’s before going to them before going to make sure they will work with it.

You may be having some contact cat to shield on the louvered piece that is parallel to the cat. Under acceleration the engine tilts back and the cat can vibrate against it. Our solution is to remove the louvers.

Have you had many customers have their Honda Accord Catalytic Converter stolen who had a Miller Cat Shield installed? Maximum of 10 normal Bolts and Security Torx Head bolts to remove before unbolting head pipe and sawing off rear pipe. Probably less than10 because at some point they could rotate or bend the shield to start theft. We had your Level 2 Pipe Theft Deterrent installed on my sons 2005 Honda Accord but after driving home to SoCal in Anaheim first day at his new job the Catalytic Converter was stolen again by making 4 cuts! So considering this Miller Cat Shield or the Cat Clamp.

We see 10 or so Accords a day at the shop, only about 10% come back with a stolen cat again with any of our deterrent options. Obviously they’re not a guaranteed solution. It has a lot to do with where the car is parked as well. If a thief has enough time he can cut the entire car in half with a saws all.

@@mufflertech LOL! Yeah and of course most people afraid to confront thieves or take the time to report them as they are gone in a few minutes. I worry with the Miller Cat Shield that with the Security Torx Head it would be fast and pretty quiet to remove the expensive shield. Do you recommend putting a weld over the Security Torx Head to require grinding the head off?

@@mikekimura2532 if you’re running an OEM cat I would do the shield and at least one other component. The cat strap or our roll bar with the shield should stop them. I would not weld the bolts just in case you ever need to remove the shield for services down the road. Have you seen my video about insurance?

@@mufflertech Yes I've seen all of your videos. You replaced our 2005 Honda Accord with OEM cat since we have Comprehensive Insurance. There are remnants of your roll bar on the "head pipe" (they did not remove the bolts nor the fuel mixture valve, they cut it near the bottom of the curve) and cut the roll bar and exhaust pipe between the cat and the muffler. Not sure of what muffler shop to go to in the Fountain Valley/Costa Mesa area that would do the roll bar over again.

@@mikekimura2532 We do not use security torx heads. Our screws are patented tamper-proof screws that you cannot purchase anywhere. We've had plenty of customers who have tried to use their own keys only to fail and became believers in our fastening hardware. You can also add bondo or other compounds to secure the screws and heat it up to remove the substance whenever you have to remove the shield. Thanks!

Are the bolts stainless or aluminum? Just had a couple of theives try to steal mine last night. Cut my 02 sensor wires and right thru the theft deterrent pipe you welded on there. Had a good run I guess being that it was installed 1.5 yrs ago. Looking at this as the new option. Hopefully they don't finish the job in my driveway before I remove it tomorrow

Stainless. With the effort the thieves are putting in now it’s a good idea to run both the roll bar and the shield. I’m glad to hear they didn’t get your cat. It’s very likely that without the bar you’d be with no cat again.

@@mufflertech they cut my sensors and the backside of the cat through the exhaust patch you did after the flange and through the roll bar you guys installed. I was surprised that it only took them about 45 sec to cut through it. They gave up after 3 mins. I used butt connectors to fix the wires. Hoping they'll operate normally. Not a fan of using them on o2 sensors though.
