Homemade WELDING TABLE (rotary table)

Ғылым және технология

For the convenience of cutting metal, welding, making stuff ... so I decided to make this welding table. Part of the table can be rotated. Later on I will update the automatic rotation under the table for TIG welding. Hope you enjoy the video :)

    Bad ass welding table bud. You can tell how much thought went into the design and building of this table. I love your lazy Susan or rotating part of your table. I know that part alone is going to get a hell of a lot of use. Really makes me wish KZread was around when I was doing metal fabrication. I have built quite a few tables during the time I was doing fabrication work, I could have used something like this at that time. It's been 10 years since I've done any serious fabrication and have lost my shop so I have gotten rid of most of my tables or benches. I still have my main welding table which was just a basic table that I got the frame from my Father in law well over 20 years ago. The frame was made from galvanized steel and was sturdy as hell when I got it from him. I eventually cut and welded a metal top made from 1/4", cold roll steel plate that's 3' X 6' which I completely welded all edges onto the table frame worked great for me. Being able to put my ground anywhere on the table and being able to place the piece I was welding onto the table and easily being able to weld on it was great. Especially for smaller pieces that a ground clamp would have been in the way. Having the table top being 1/4" thick worked out great when I needed to persuade pieces of joints together with anywhere from a ball pein hammer to a 10lb sledge hammer. Having all edges of the table tob welded made sure that the piece I was working on moved or bent like I wanted without damaging the table. I wish I had put more thought into like you did to make it easier to clamp pieces down instead of welding clamps to the table top

  • 6 жыл бұрын

    yeah. that rotating part worked good for me, actually helped me alot. but the problem my ground goin through the bearing and now it's kind of stuck inside. I have a plan to upgrade it into the automatic rotary for tig weld. with a longer shaft and puly conect to the speed control motor also i can put my ground on it.

  • @mrbratt69

    @mrbratt69

    6 жыл бұрын

    Cà Lem That's a pretty good idea, I wouldn't of originally thought the bearing would have offered problems with the ground but I understand why now that I think about it.

    Nice work, lots of good ideas built into that table. I like looking at others' welding tables because they are each different, and tailored for the builders' particular conditions and preferences. I made the mistake of trying to build somebody else's idea of a perfect welding table from drawings once, and I didn't get very far before realizing that it wasn't going to work well for ME. Ended up cutting it up and building something different that did.

    I used this kind of setup before, but even in my small shop I ended up having better experience having separate welding cart and table work better. if you have your machines below your workspace you will end up damaging the outer covers and the hoses and cables will be in the way all the time. But this is a very nice set-up and I will use it as an inspiration in my own build of new fab table.

    Epoxy some magnets on a power strip and keep it on the clamp side of the table for just in case you need to do anything outside so you can have multiple outlets at your table instead of using a bunch of extension cords...

    Lem, you do beautiful work. About six months ago I dropped an angle grinder on my leg just like the one you used in this video. In about a second the grinder cut through skin, muscle, tendon, bone, nerves, veins and arteries. It dug deep into my leg, as far as it could go and when I took it out it was still on, because I left the suicide switch on. So, after 40 years experience in metal and fiver glass workshops working with this tool it jumps out of my hands and I would never have believed that this would happen to me. Keep the blade guard on except for the rare exception, use the handle and use safer substitute cutting tools when possible... please take good care of yourself.

    Damn bro !! I haven’t finished watching the video and I gotta give you props ! You really get into your imagination and work it thru. Already just now subscribed and look forward to watching some more. I’m very new to welding and trying it out on my own so people like yourself are some mighty high goals to achieve

    Awesome job !! Looks great ! only $0.02 I could add would be to cut your stock/sheet metal vertical in the band saw. Great job. I enjoy these no talking, more doing videos. nicely done.
